Legendary Shadow

Liam didn't get any answers, so after he and Lance rounded up all Team Shadow members, they called officer Jenny to come and arrest them. They left Team Shadow's hideout, and when they got outside, Liam was conflicted on what to do next, until Lance brought him back asking for a battle. 

Liam wasn't in the mood to fight anymore, but he promised Lance he would give him the battle at the end of all of this, so he agreed. Both their Dragonites were tired, so they both decided to bring out a different Pokémon.

Lance brought out his Flygon, which surprised Liam a little bit because he didn't remember Lance having one. Lance noticed this, and he said, "Flygon has been staying in my hometown for a while. I just got him back, and he's stronger than ever." Liam just smiled as he took out his Pokedex to check Flygon's level. 

Flygon was only a level 50, so Liam decided to use Latios as they were both the same levels. When Liam brought out Latios, Lance was surprised as he asked, "What kind of Pokémon is this? I've never seen it before." Liam explained that this was a mythical Pokémon called Latios, and he couldn't give him any more details. 

Lance admired Liam for having so many unique, rare Pokémon but was fired up when he thought of battling him. To start the match, Flygon flew into the air as Latios did the same. Flygon used Tackle, but Latios dodged it. Latios flew past Flygon and had its back facing him. 

Flygon saw this as an opportunity and used a sandstorm as a sandy whirlwind that came out of nowhere and made it hard for everybody but Flygon to see. Latios became a little scared because he had never been in that situation before, so he started crying out for help, and Liam simply told him to fly up. 

Latios flew straight up out of the sandstorm, but as soon as he did, a hyper beam came from behind him and hit his back, causing significant damage to Latios. Latios was falling from the sky with his eyes closed. Liam kept calling for him to wake up before he crashed into the ground. Still, it was to no avail as Latios crashed into the field, making a big crater, he had fainted making Lance the winner. 

Lance thanked Liam for the battle as he started walking away with dignity. Liam saw that and yelled, "Wait, I have more Pokémon…" Lance cut him off by saying, "Your head is not in the game, so I don't think we'll be able to fight like we usually do." 

Liam pondered for a moment and understood what he was saying, so he just let it go as he went to the Pokemon Center to go heal up. Lance was leaving town soon that evening, so they hung out with each other for a little bit before Lance left to visit his hometown. 

That night Liam was sleeping under the stars petting Shadow in his chibi form while Latios was flying around the sky. Liam asked Shadow what he thought about team shadow, and Shadow told Liam that he thinks it's incredible that an organization is named after him, and he couldn't wait to meet the person that made it possible. 

Liam could shake his head as he noticed Shadow's colors start to change. Liam was surprised by this as he thought he was going crazy. He asked Shadow why he was reverting to his old image, but Shadow wasn't in the position to answer that question. Liam thought he would have to go back to the Bellsprout tower for more training in the future.
