I’d feel bad if I only receive dinner, so I decided to take some cheese, bacon, and wine from the cellar as a present. Cecily and Miina would be at risk of getting the disease if they were to enter the village, so I told them to stay on the ship and hold the fort.

“Rouge, never let your guard down, okay? I’m entrusting you with the task of guarding Shirou.”

As usual, Cecily is being so earnest and worry too much about me.

“It’ll be fine. There are only old people and children over there.”

“Don’t let their old age let your guard down, Shirou. No matter how old a woman is, they may still do terrible things to you!”

Well, come to think of it, the grannies were peeking at me bathing earlier. Back on earth I’ve often saw lecherous old fart doing perverted misconducts, I guess it’s almost the same thing here.

“Don’t forget to bring the Invisibility Ring and the Staff of La Messeine! Also, might as well bring several Ball of Light and Explosive Balls too.” Miina suggested. [1]

Guess I need to prepare my equipment and get ready for any eventuality, huh.

After that, to calm their worries I hugged both of them and gave them a peck on their forehead.

While Cecily stuttered, Miina only keeps silent.

“Why are you complaining? You got to eat dinner with me, right?”

We then headed to the temple with Rouge is still holding her head, contemplating deeply about it.

We gave the present to Recoa-san and Innis, but the temple helper seemed to be far more appreciative than the temple head.

“Oh dear, it has been so long since we had meat, since we only have fish around here for every day. Praise be the Lord, praise be the Lord.” Innis-san was worshipping me and the piece of bacon alternately.

“Shirou-san, it’s too precious of a gift, we can’t possibly accept it.” Recoa-san said with a troubled face.

“Don’t worry about it. We have too much stock on our ship, and we can’t eat all of them by ourselves. It’d go bad otherwise.”

After that it was decided that we would offer a simple prayer before eating. It’s my first experience to join a prayer since I came to this world, but the way they pray is like joining hands in Buddhism, and it was interesting.

Then, it was time for dinner.

The only thing served as dinner was fish soup and bread. The fish soup was simmered with onions and potatoes fried in olive oil, and it was a little salty but still delicious.

Come to think of it, it’s been a long time since I ate food cooked by someone else.

“Is this soup made by Innis-san?”

“Yes, it is. I hope you’ll find the taste agreeable, since it’s only a village cooking after all.”

“It’s really delicious, actually. It’s been a long time since I’ve taste something like this; reminds me of my mother’s cooking.”

I think Innis-san is about the same age of her. I wonder if my mother is doing fine…

“Oh, dear. Saint-sama, does your mother usually cooks too?”

“My mother was a cook, actually. And thanks to you, I’m able to experience the taste of home cooking again. Innis-san, thank you very much.”

The back of my nose and the tops of my eyes were tingling, but I managed to hold back the tears.

♢ Recoa’s POV

Recoa and Innis saw Shiro and Rouge off at the entrance. Only after the light from Shirou’s lantern was far enough did Innis open her mouth.

“Truly, what a kind and lovely saint he is. Even the words he said to a person like me is full of compassion…”

“Yes…”

“I heard from his companion, Rouge-san, that he’s really good at cooking and sewing. If only my daughter Cindy could bring someone like him to be my son-in-law, I would have nothing to worry about.”

“I agree…”

“And he has that ideal body type. I heard that a man like that would be able to give many healthy offspring…” [2]

As the light from Shirou’s lantern was finally no longer visible, Recoa then returned to her room.

She sat down in her chair and tried to calm herself down, but the words Innis had just said seemed to be stuck in her ears.

It wasn’t Innis who imagined lewd things about Shirou. It was me all along!

Recoa felt an irrepressible burning sensation from within her, but not from the wine that Shirou had brought with him.

Fearing that she would be unable to get anything done at this point, Recoa decided to employ her last resort. She never thought that a time would come for her to have to use it, and while being terrified by her uncontrollable desire, she took a small box from the back of the cupboard.

After we returned from the temple, I made myself a cup of coffee. Apparently, it is not usual to drink coffee after having a meal in the temple.

“It’s become something normal since we’re living with Shirou, but actually to be able to drink coffee is something luxurious, you know.”

“Eh? Is that so, Cecily?”

“Aah. Coffee beans grow only in special climates, don’t they? Most of them are transported by ocean-going vessels, so they are quite expensive.”

If that’s true, that means I might be able to rake in a large fortune just by creating and selling coffee beans! [4]

“Okami-san, why do I have the feelings like you’re experiencing an evil smile right now.” Miina remarked while slightly shuddering.

Did I really let out such an evil-like impression just now? But I was only thinking of making easy money.

Well, currently I have enough money, so I don’t think I need to earn more right now.

“Anyway, how was your dinner?” Cecily kindly asked the question, but somehow it feels like she was forcing it.

“It was great. It was the first time in a long while that I ate a meal served by someone else. I knew it, having someone to make food for you really feels good.”

I said so expressing my honest opinion, but somehow Cecily looked deeply apologetic.

“My bad. I should have cooked something for you.” [5]

Not only Cecily, even Rouge and Miina looked apologetic too, now.

“Cecily, you can cook?”

“Well, if it’s something simple, sure…”

“I can cook too, Okami-san!”

“I also have some skills in cooking…”

Is that true? I never once saw any of three of them cooking, though.

“So, what kind of food can you make?”

“Salted grilled fish! (by using my explosion magic)”

So… Basically, all three of them only know how to make salt-grilled fish…

Oh. It seems that Anne’s medicine has been completed while we were chatting.

“Since the medicine is finally finished, I’m going to go to the temple again.”

Rouge put down her drinking cup and started to get up, but I refused her.

“That’s alright, I’ll bring the two Wonders to guard me, so please slowly finish your coffee, Rouge.”

I also still have the Invisibility Ring on my finger, and Staff of La Messeine on my bag.

Holding a magic lantern on my hand, I quickly ran outside toward the temple.

I breathed a sigh of relief as I finally gave Anne the medicine. The medicines that I had created until now were usually very effective, so I’m sure she would be getting better soon.

I’m planning to stay in the village for awhile to check on her progress, but it should be alright now. Not only Anne, I hope the other sick villagers would get well soon.

I can see the villagers who were nursing them were sleeping on the corner of the temple room, probably they’re exhausted as well.

I took the opportunity to check on the other patients, but none of them seem to be suffering from high fever. I also gave some sports drink to those who said they were thirsty, and wiped the sweats from their faces and necks. After finishing my final round of checking them, I then decided to leave the temple, but I guess I should say a few words to the temple head before that.

With that in mind, I headed for her office in the back of the building…

It was just before I knocked on the door of her office when I heard a strange noise.

“Mmpf!”

I heard a muffled voice of Recoa-san’s. Maybe she’s currently talking to someone?

*whip*

“Ahn! Kuh… Evil spirit… begone from this place!”

*whip*

No way! The temple head is fighting an evil spirit!? I need to go and help her!!

Alright, I’ve equipped Eminence Rock. I’m also activating the Invisibility Ring now.

In order to surprise the demon, I gently opened the door so as not to make a sound.
