Kairen had to find Alan.

That was the very first thing he wanted to do the next morning. He wanted to search for that man as soon as possible.

Kairen didn't know how and where he was supposed to find him though.

Yesterday after the monsters attacked, Kairen left him behind in the teleportation center to go and fight the other monsters.

The rescue group arrived a little bit after Kairen left the center and moved the people to a safe place.

The teleportation center was greatly damaged in the attack so it was closed today and there was no way to find the rescue group's members and ask them about Alan.

In addition to that, one whole day had passed since the attack. Obviously, Alan wouldn't have waited for him all day in the teleportation center, so Kairen had to find where he was now.

That was what he wanted to do.

But he could only want it, not actually do anything.

Why?

Because they were too busy with work that he didn't even get time to eat properly.

There were a lot of things to take care of after what happened. Kairen was also absent yesterday because he was in the hospital, so he had even more work.

They had to take care of the damages that the city had taken, the dead people and agents, find the reason why the monsters attacked, check all of the systems installed in the city, and attend to a lot of meetings.

And the busiest one among them was obviously the team leader.

Kairen was waiting for the team leader to scold him from the moment that he entered the office in the morning. He was preparing an answer the whole night.

Surprisingly, the team leader didn't tell him anything. Actually, he didn't have the time to talk to him at all.

Their only interaction the whole day was the only time they met in front of the elevator. The team leader only glared at Kairen for a short moment, but that short moment was enough to make Kairen's soul leave his body.

He didn't know if he was supposed to be happy about this fact or not. He just wished that team leader Dains would forget about him sneaking out of the office yesterday.

The problem wasn't only the team leader. The one who had been bothering and asking him questions nonstop was Reyan.

He stuck to his side and asked him various questions, cursed him, and scolded him.

Still, Kairen was happy. He thought that Reyan would beat him up as soon as they met again so he was happy that everything ended with a few curses and insults.

'Whatever...'

Kairen decided to stop thinking about the team leader and the others for now. He pushed his thoughts to the back of his head and focused on what he was doing.

That said, he focused on staring directly at the air with a serious face.

"...."

The only thing he had to do was to silently stand in one place and pretend as if he didn't exist.

He, as well as about half of the unit members, were all standing in a big hall. They weren't in SMF's headquarters but were in another building that was probably more important than SMF's headquarters because of the people who were currently there.

Why they were acting as guards now? It was also because there were a lot of important people here attending a meeting. The people were busy talking and discussing things.

Again, this too was because of yesterday's incident.

It was a little bit after that the monsters were taken care of that Bordkly's president called SMF and complaint about the situation.

He asked if they knew the reason behind the incident and the monsters' attack. He asked why didn't the protection system work properly. They also asked why did this happen on the first day of Bordkly's agents' arrival.

After the breakout, SMF's reaction was quick and effective and the situation was taken care of without them taking a lot of damage.

Yet, Bordkly's president said that Hainston couldn't solve the problem probably and it took them a lot of time to calm the situation. He complained about how unsafe this country was and how they let lots of people suffer.

What Bordkly's president said wasn't really a question. He demanded that SMF, and particularly this country, knew that something like this would happen.

No, it was just knowing about it. Bordkly's president claimed that this incident was intentionally caused by them.

They claimed that the incident was intentionally caused by Hainston to harm the agents that were sent to their country.

He said that there was no way for such a thing to happen in Hainston's capital, and exactly on the day of the agents' arrival.

Bordkly believed that it was an attack to harm them.

Honestly, the idea was ridiculous.

Truly ridiculous.

But he insisted on his theory and didn't want to believe any of the explanations given to them, and even threatened them.

That was one of the reasons why this meeting was arranged. These people had gathered here to discuss the breakout.

As the meeting was a secret and important one, unit 5's agents had to disguise and act as guards.

Now standing inside the hall, Kairen and the others had to act as if they didn't exist at all.

"So, could you find the reason? Was the protection system broken?"

One man asked that while reading the documents on the table.

One woman wearing military clothes, the deputy commander of the Special Military Forces, answered the man.

"We've checked all of the systems thoroughly. Everything was working properly and flawlessly."

"Then..."

The man didn't say anything else and continued to read the documents.

"How are we going to deal with Bordkly now?"

Another person asked that, and the woman answered the question again.

"It is not false that we showed them our weak side, but we can not keep quiet and watch them behave as they want. Our people had to suffer more losses because a big part of our forces had to stay behind and protect those agents and couldn't go out to fight. Considering everything, if someone is able to create such a mess in our land on the same day of Bordkly's agents' arrival, it is more likely that it was done by none other than Bordkly."

Silence filled the room.

Everyone looked at the woman. She was talking with a calm face, but her words were quite harsh.

"Are you saying that it was done by them?"

The woman looked at the person in the eyes and answered with a cold voice.

"It is a possibility, sir. We can't be sure about anything. Bordkly and Hainston don't have a good relationship after all. It is possible that they've done something to make monsters attack our city."

The woman leaned forward and tapped the table with her finger.

Tap Tap Tap

"Yes. Bordkly and Hainston don't have a good relationship. Bordkly requested to send their agents to Hainston, and Hainston accepted it. That was done so that the two countries could become a little bit closer. Then, on the day of those agents' arrival, an incident happened."

Tap Tap Tap

The woman continued to tap on the table.

"Did Bordkly cuase the incident? Did they not send the agents to Hainston to achieve peace, but to stab them from behind? Or was it Hainston who did that? Did they harm their own land and people, only to show what they were capable of doing to their enemy?"

Tap Tap Tap

"Or is it none of them?"

The woman stopped tapping on the table and looked at the person who asked that question. She smiled and leaned back.

"Yes, president. It might be none of them."

The president continued her words.

"Hainston will suspect Bordkly and Bordkly will suspect Hainston. The two countries' relationship would get worse instead of them achieving peace."

Everyone in the room looked at the president in silence.

The woman was the one who broke the heavy silence after a few seconds.

"Yes, president. That is also possible."

The room was filled with silence one again after her words.

People started to talk one by one after a few moments.

"You are saying that there is a third person in here, who wanted to make the two countries suspect each other?"

"That's only our thoughts. There is no proof for what I said."

"Are you sure about that? It wasn't done by Bordkly?"

"As I said just now, that is just one possibility. Nothing is for sure."

"Why would someone want to create a war between us and Bordkly?"

"Whoever they are, they will probably gain some benefits from the two countries fighting each other."

The woman answered the people's questions one by one in a calm voice and with a smile on her lips.

The people in the room are either politicians, cabinet members, heads of different departments, or other powerful characters in the country. Yet, the woman talked to them as if they were all ordinary people.

And no one seemed to mind it at all. She was the deputy commander of SMF after all.

"Then who? Who would benefit from us fighting?"

The woman grabbed her chin and tilted her head.

"Who? That too isn't possible to answer for sure. Yet, we all know a group who really seeks our destruction. Both Bordkly and Hainston's."

The man opened his mouth to say something, but stopped and closed his mouth.

The president was the one who said the next words.

"Philomns."
