348 He was chosen

Inside the capital of the most powerful country on the continent, in an area far away from the residential areas of ordinary citizens, the main buildings and structures of the strongest military organization of the said country were built.

Inside the vast area, numerous small and large facilities with various usages were built in neat order. The workers and agents of the organization were all moving according to what they were ordered to do and were busy doing their jobs.

In a corner of the said area, a black and sturdy-looking building was located. The all-black building though had numerous deep cracks all over it. A few of the walls were almost on the verge of collapsing, making people avoid walking and standing beside them.

“He was chosen by the crown!”

Inside the building, in a room facing an interrogation area, a golden-haired man slammed the table with his fist as he said through gritted teeth.

“That explosion! That fucking research lab that you guys created. It was that!”

Alan didn’t care how the others were looking at him. His insides were boiling with uncontrollable anger and he was barely holding himself back from attacking any of these people randomly and strangling them.

“Those bastards were researching that matter! That mysterious power, they were dealing with that cursed shit! It was that explosion! It must’ve caused a reaction in the Temple of Dawn and awakened the artifacts that were there as a result!”

Alan was talking to no one in particular. He was only spitting out those words in a fluster, cause if he didn’t, he felt like he’d explode.

.....

“The other artifacts got activated because of that as well! It’s why one of them reacted to the power of that weirdo with that strange power and chose that agent as its master!”

SLAM SLAM SLAM

“I was also awakened at the same time. That fucking research lab fucked everything up! That damned holy saint must’ve also sensed it, or maybe he sensed the activation of his temples, and that’s why he came back here. He’ll fucking destroy this world for real this time!”

Everyone had moved as far away from Alan as they could. The objects around him were starting to show strange signs from themselves. Some of them turned to dust all of a sudden and some aged severally as if thousands of years has passed in one second. While the others got newer and newer. There were even green sprouts growing out of the wooden table.

While Alan was busy venting his anger on the objects that were beside him in the room and the people present in the building had walked as far away from him as they could, inside the interrogation room that was separated from the rest of the building by thick, unbreakable glass walls, a tall man with a slightly brawny body was being restrained from strangled someone else who had long white hair.

“If you wanted revenge then you could go kill those motherfucker SMF bastards, why did you wrack havoc in the whole continent?”
“Aaron, let him go!”

“Your story won’t justify what you’ve done the slightest. I won’t let you go like this. I’ll kill you with my own hands. I’ll kill you with my own hands!”

Yelling at the top of his lungs, Aaron struggled to free himself from the group of people who were holding him back and pulling him away from the prisoner, the previous boss of Philomns. His face was red from anger, his teeth were gritted and his lips were bleeding from him bitting them hard. His arms were being pulled to two sides by two different people while someone else was pulling back his body and the other one was rescuing his target of anger.

“Killing me won’t bring your brother back to life! Heh! Heheheh!”

The target of anger however seemed to be enjoying the situation very much. He let out a burst of laughter as he smirked at Aaron.

“Shut up. Shut that dirty mouth of yours!”

BOMMMM

The building shook all of a sudden, making the people holding Aaron back almost fall to the ground.

“He is not dead. He is still alive, so shut the fuck up!”

The white-haired man raised up his body a little bit while massaging his neck, which had visible red fingermarks on it. The smirk on his face didn’t fade but got wider.

“Is that so? Seems like you finally lost your mind, outlander! Pfffttt!”

The man once again burst into laughter. He laughed as he watched his previous subordinate being dragged away from the others. He watched how the ‘outlander’ who always hid his face behind a hood now had bloodshot eyes, how small and almost unrecognizable tears were forming on his eyes, and how his long hair had lost its tied-up and neat form and was now messy.

“It can’t be stopped anyway!”

After laughing all he wanted, the man pulled back his hair and said in a loud voice.

“Even if you kill me, nothing can be stopped anymore!”

Right now, his face and demander were no different than a lunatic, someone who had lost their minds and their reason. He chuckled and continued.

“I’ve already set the things up. There is no turning back for it anymore!”

The man on the other side didn’t seem to care about his words though. He only struggled to get out of the hold of the people around him and strangle his enemy to death.

The building shook more and more until it threatened to fall apart. It was only after the white-haired man was dragged out of the room that Aaron finally gave up on strangling him for now and instead his figure slumped down to the ground.

The building was half-destroyed. On one side of it, a golden-haired old man was going crazy, and on the other side someone was trying to strangle the prisoner, so it was no wonder that the building was about to collapse.

Sitting on the floor, Aaron watched as the agents hurriedly tried to calm Alan down and leave the building. He watched as dust rose from each crack in the wall and as small pebbles rolled on the ground.

“He’s not dead.”

He mumbled under his lips.

“My brother is not dead. I won’t accept it until I see his corpse. He is alive.”

He whipped the edges of his eyes with his sleeve.

“He is alive.”

. . . . . .

In a land surrounded by darkness and nothing but silence, a few small lights were flickering faintly and weakly.

In one of the places with a faint light in it, two people were sitting in front of each other, staring at the other’s face with narrowed eyes.

“Don’t look at me like that, I told you I’ve gotten better at cooking!”

In between the two of them was a table full of food.

“My question is, how can a soul eat food? How did you get better at cooking after your death? Is that even logical?”

“Is the fact that we, the dead, live here with you, a living person, in the same house logical?”

“No.”

“Then there is no need to seek logic for the rest of the things here. Trust me, I’ve tried before, and I nearly went crazy!”

But you’ve completely gone crazy!

Kairen remarked in his mind as he picked up a spoon to eat this mysterious food in front of him.
