Little Purple

Chapter 31

The moon shined and lit up the cold, icy face of the young maiden. She was standing under a tree near the backdoor, her eyes closed, seemingly thinking hard about something. She frowned a bit, making her face look even more immortal.

Hu Ye could not help but widen his eyes a bit. He then lowered his vision and shook his head, trying to keep that unfamiliar feeling away. Unfortunately, no matter what Hu Ye thought, that woman was very astoundingly beautiful. The beauty in front of him reminded him about Fa Sui's words just a few minutes ago. "Girlfriend, eh?" A flash of a memory came to him, one about Qing Guang's greed for meat. "No...Most definitely not." He chuckled

"Why are you laughing, Ye?" Qing Guang asked, opening her beautiful eyes.

Hu Ye stopped chuckling. He was sure that there was no way Qing Guang could hear him at such a distance. "Did you hear?"

"Just a bit." Qing Guang rarely saw the stoic and impenetrable Hu Ye smile, let alone laugh, so she was curious as to what could make the troublesome young brat be in such a hearty mood.

"Oh." Hu Ye was very impressed. Up until now, he had not realized that Qing Guang's hearing was sharper than most people's. He stared at her face.

Feeling his intent stare, Qing Guang raised an eyebrow and said, "So, why are you laughing?"

Hu Ye blinked a few times, suddenly having forgotten why he had been laughing. "That is…" When he remembered, he unconsciously showed a small smile and asked jokingly. "Guang, have you ever thought about being someone's girlfriend?"

"Girlfriend?" Qing Guang automatically thought of her stepmother, and her expression turned darker than the night. She clenched her fists until her palms became pale. In an angered voice she said, "Slut!"

"What?" Hu Ye's eyes widened. He did not think that she would give him such a powerful response. Qing Guang quivered, almost digging out the skin on her palm. She gritted her teeth, and her calm expression changed instantly.

She seemed to be in so much pain and anguish. Hu Ye frowned, unsure of what to do. Thinking that he should come closer first and talk to her, he took some steps forward, but then…

"Argh!" Suddenly, there was a searing pain in his right shoulder that was grazed by the black arrow just a few hours ago. It felt like his shoulder was on fire. The pain was unbearable even for a martial practitioner like Hu Ye. He clutched his right shoulder with his left arm and fell to his knees.

"Ye?" His cry and the sound of his knees falling to the ground made Qing Guang turn her head to his direction. She gasped and immediately ran to him. Seeing him half-conscious, his eyes hollow and his face pale, she cried, "Ye, Ye!" She called his name repeatedly, trying to wake him up.

Hu Ye's head was spinning. Though his eyes were open and he still conscious, he could not hear what Qing Guang was saying. His body was cold and suddenly started collecting sweat.

Qing Guang instantly fell to her knees and grabbed him when he was about to fall. Qing Guang's natural body temperature was always a bit colder than normal, making her used to feel only warmth when she touched anyone else's skin, but when her fingers pressed against Hu Ye's body, through the fabric of his clothing, all she could feel was the chill his body was emitting.

"Ugh…" Hu Ye shivered a bit and slowly closed his eyes.

"Hu Ye, Hu Ye! Somebody, help!" Qing Guang shouted. They were still inside the Hu resident, just a bit far from other buildings. Unfortunately, the Hu residence was void of servants, so she just hoped that there were still guards who were patrolling around.

"Oh no…" Qing Guang looked at his skin and saw a change in color. Shifting Hu Ye's body, she observed the pallor of his face. Her eyes then flicked over to the skin that was wrapped in bandages. In a second, she froze, her body trembling tremendously.

Hu Ye's shoulder was turning black, pure and hollow black. The dark thing looked as if it was alive as it consumed Hu Ye's pale skin little by little. Some of it spread to his neck, and his breath hitched noticeably; he was struggling to breathe.

Qing Guang took a guess as to what was causing Hu Ye's skin to blacken.

"Poison?"

Qing Guang knew a bit about poisons since her stepmother always tried to inject some into her meals. She decided to confirm her guess.

Even though Qing Guang got poisoned every so often, she had never treated someone else who was poisoned, so she tried to be careful and not rush. Carefully, Qing Guang ripped a piece of Hu Ye's clothing in order to expose the skin around his injury. She touched his injured shoulder, causing him to flinch. "I'm sorry, hold on a minute."

Qing Guang got rid of the remaining fabric around Hu Ye's shoulder and exposed his skin under the moonlight. But just when she did that, the blackness disappeared from his skin like it had never been there, and his body temperature slowly turned back to normal.

"Eh?" Qing Guang halted. she checked once again and saw none of the blackness that had previously been on Hu Ye's body. It was completely returned to normal. Although his breath was still ragged and his body temperature was still a bit cold, it was nothing like when there was still that eerie black thing. "Was it just my imagination?

"Qing First Miss!" Falcon shouted. He got down from the roof and landed near the bushes below the tree Qing Guang was standing under. "I heard your call, is something wro—"

Falcon saw Qing Guang on top of Hu Ye, his clothes opened and exposing a bit of his chest. Falcon gulped. "Well, this is a bit awkward."

"What do you mean?" Qing Guang looked down and her expression immediately changed. "No, I think you are getting it all wrong."

"It is okay Qing First Miss, everyone has their own little secret." Falcon said cheekily. The moonlight shone on his mask and making it glitter a bit. Falcon smiled innocently at Qing Guang and added, "The Fourth Young Master is very kind, gentle, and reliable. I am sure Qing First Miss will be happy by his side. This lowly guard will keep this a secret, so don't worry."

The corner of the ice princess's eye twitched. "Hey! Listen to my me, your master suddenly got sick, so I was just trying to check on him."

"Oh, I see, of course, of course." Falcon wore a smirk. His mask only covered the upper half of his face, so Qing Guang was able to see his expression clearly.

"You still don't believe me?" Qing Guang fumed.

"Agh…" Suddenly, Hu Ye tried to get up.

Qing Guang snapped to attention and reminded Falcon of Hu Ye's earlier condition. "You better call your doctor friend right now."
