Little Purple

Chapter 73

Qing Bo, seeing Zhi Yu's furious expression, patted him on the shoulder, signaling for him to calm down and stop leaking his killing intent.

"May I ask you what is the meaning of this?" Qing Bo sternly inquired. He looked left and right and saw the other mourners looking at each other in bewilderment. The Great General was widely renowned, and there were still people coming to visit.

"The general's residence was bestowed by the previous emperor," said the official carefully. He knew the right chancellor was not an easy person to deal with. "As such, if the master is gone, it should be returned to the previous owner."

Qing Bo's gaze was cold. "You said it. It was bestowed, as in given. Do the revered give something and take it back whenever they want to? Of course, the emperor is not that type. His Majesty is the most benevolent ruler. Why would he do that?" He raised his eyebrow.

"That is..." The official broke out in cold sweat.

"Go back." Qing Bo's eyes glinted dangerously. "Tell them that this household belongs to the heir and bloodline of the Hu clan. No one else can claim it."

The official gritted his teeth. Just before he could affirm his standing, someone came from behind him.

"Right Chancellor Qing Bo, it is a pity that you bark in the wrong direction."

The melodic voice, coupled with an irritating smile and cool composure could only belong to one man.

"Your Highness crown prince…" Qing Bo frowned when he looked at him. In his heart, he wondered when he had come back. He had spies everywhere in the city, yet none of them caught news of Jin Min's return to Jin Ye. Qing Bo broke into cold sweat. He wanted to investigate the assassination right away, but now that Jin Min was back, things would be harder.

The commotion quieted down. Zhi Yu and Qing Bo did not have a good history with these two. When they saw who stood behind Jin Min, their expressions darkened further. The crown prince had brought his new consort with him.

Qing Li looked at Qing Bo and the house, wrinkling her nose in disgust. She sniffed and threw her face to the side, making veins pop in Qing Bo's head. "That pig…" he said in his heart.

She walked to Jin Min's side along with Jin Lei before glancing up at him. She was surprised to see his gaze heavily fixated on something. Following his line of sight, she spotted a black bow to the side. Her eyes widened, it was Qing Guang's bow!

Qing Li gritted her teeth and her eyes flashed. Even in death, that wench wouldn't leave her alone!

Jin Min finally glanced away from the bow and chuckled. "Right Chancellor Qing, it has been so long since our last meeting."

"Quite right. Has it been two years since then?"

"En, more or less. Right Chancellor, ever since our first time working together, I became aware that you are a very capable person." Jin Min looked straight into Qing Bo's eyes. "But no matter how capable or sly you are, I never thought that one day you would dare to go against the edict by changing the person who was meant to marry this crown prince."

"Your Highness, may I inquire as to what this is about?" Qing Bo smirked. He leveled a stare at Jin Min, seemingly challenging him. "Who exactly went against the edict?"

Jin Min squinted his eyes, giving off a dangerous aur. The corner of his mouth curved up, forming a smirk. "Is that how you are going to play this game, Right Chancellor?"

Falcon and Fa Sui, who heard the commotion, ran to the front and shivered when they saw the scene from behind the wall.

It felt like behind Jin Min was a dragon, and behind Qing Bo was a tiger.

The air was heavy as the illusionary beasts started to spark and give a chilly feeling.

Fa Sui, who peeked from the corner of the wall, trembled as his small face went paler and paler. The main courtyard was full of people who held their breath like him, trying to not make a sound.

His masked friend was also holding his breath, but curiosity got the best of him. He went ahead and whispered to Fa Sui. "Sui, what does the crown prince mean by changing the person in the edict while he was gone?" He spoke with a heavy frown.

"You don't remember?" Falcon shook his head, making Fa Sui roll his eyes. "Sheesh, it was when the emperor, crown prince, and second prince were away that the person in the edict changed."

"Ugh… I was away on a mission when that happened…" Falcon scratched his head. "Tell me the details."

"It was like this, the edict only stated that the crown prince would marry the first daughter of the Left Chancellor's household. The first daughter at the time was Miss Qing Guang." Fa Sui made a serious face. "Our Young Master and the right chancellor hatched a plan in their absence. They cornered the left chancellor and forced him to sever his family ties with Miss Qing Guang. Because she was no longer his first daughter, the edict ended up falling on Miss Qing Li."

"I see, that was brilliant of them." Falcon gasped. "The crown prince was away for two years. Of course he is bewildered with this development."

"Yes, he seemed to be quite distressed by it. Since the whole court was in a huge uproar that time, even the emperor himself had to come back early to clean up the mess they made." Fa Sui gulped, wondering if they could get out alive after this.
