Little Purple
Chapter 76
"Aunt Zi, Xiao Yi…" Zhi Shao Yao, who was inside the main hall, contemplated. She heard from Doctor Fa that Falcon didn't find their bodies. She wondered why that was.
Because her own mother was busy with the store at day time, Zhi Shao Yao played with her two other aunts a lot. Hu Cheng Se became her teacher even before she entered the school. Her second aunt's knowledge was fast, and she passed a lot of it down to her niece, Zhi Shao Yao. Now the young girl knew many common pieces of knowledge that adults knew.
She overheard Fa Sui and Falcon discussing their plan of searching for the bodies that might have fallen off the cliff; evidently, there were traces of confrontation near it.
Suddenly, there was a huge commotion outside.
Zhi Shao Yao looked to the door and blinked twice, wondering what happened. She slowly took small steps toward the grand door and peeked through the gap between the leaves.
She couldn't see much besides a bunch of figures due to the sun rays partially blinding her eyes. Squinting her eyes, she looked through the gap carefully.
When she saw a pair of purple colored eyes meet her own, her eyes glittered as tears formed little by little. "Aunt Zi!"
Zhi Shao Yao rushed through the door. Fa Sui spotted her running and began to panic. He couldn't let the tender young miss go to the courtyard when the situation was still so tense and dangerous. He came out from behind the round-shaped gate wall and tried to run as fast as he could, but ended up stumbling back down.
Zhi Shao Yao called to her aunt and hugged her from behind, tears streaming down her face.
Because of the force of the impact, Hu Zi stumbled and something fell out of her sleeve as she tried to balance herself.
The white thing hit Zhi Shao Yao's head. "Aiya!" Her head aching, she placed her hand on top of the painful area in order to try sooth it. "Ugh… What was that?"
Zhi Shao Yao looked down and picked the shiny white thing from the ground. It was a key.
The key looked like a stick that had a dragon carved on it, the hole and cleave from the carving would be the one that fit the hold in the wall perfectly.
Zhi Yu's eyes widened when he saw the key in Zhi Shao Yao's hand. He immediately looked at Qing Bo.
"That's the one?" Qing Bo exclaimed. Zhi Yu answered with a nod.
Hu Zi wondered why they looked relieved while she was still so sad, but immediately after, when Qing Bo said a few words to Jin Min, Hu Zi understood the situation.
Losing her house right after losing her family would simply be unacceptable!
Hu Zi gritted her teeth, the image of the imperial dragon tattoo on that man's wrist flashing through her mind. Though was furious, since she was unable to see that man's face, she had decided to hold herself back so that she wouldn't put blind judgment on anyone. But now that the imperial family came to take the house, she was even more certain that they had a hand in her family's massacre.
She regretted that she was unable to see the man's face when she was still on that cliff. If the air around that man wasn't so sparse, she would have been able to use her wind and map his facial features.
"This is the key to the residence given by the previous emperor himself." Qing Bo took the key and showcased it to Jin Min. "Your Highness, with this, I am afraid that the decree can't be applied to the Hu household."
Jin Min looked at the key and quietly contemplated.
Just like how Zhi Yu had his necklace, for the Hu family to abrogate the current emperor's decree, they needed two major things. The key to the household and a descendent.
The descendant, in this case, however, needed to be a male heir because a female would sooner or later marry and need to leave the household. They couldn't be a true heir to the house.
"The Hu family does not have any heirs left. "Jin Min stated. "The decree still stands."
Qing Bo gritted his teeth. To think that the crown prince stated that fact right after they received the coffins. Just how desperately did the imperial family want the house?
"That is not so!" Hu Zi suddenly came forward. "We still have an heir."
Jin Min frowned at this. He heard the report saying that Hu Zi and Hu Xiang Yi were nowhere to be found. Hu Zi was an elemental practitioner, so she was used to training in the middle of a storm, but Hu Xiang Yi was still a baby. For him to survive the trip from the memorial palace to Jin Ye in such cold weather and such quick time was very unlikely unless he had an extremely healthy constitution.
Hu Zi opened the bundle of clothes that she was embracing and revealed the little Hu Xiang Yi inside. "Behold!" She raised him up in the light for all to see.
Hu Xiang Yi was exhausted but still breathing. He fidgeted for a moment before opening his mouth and yawning.
Qing Bo blinked twice at this. Although he looked paler, the little guy sure was his nephew. He yawned like how his Hu Ye did if he was bored.
Hu Xiang Yi clearly had no idea that his presence had caused an uproar.
