Loki’s Successor System
Chapter 77: Magic Reawakening (1)
What people clearly did not understand about the demons is their existence. The Government assured that they had eliminated all the hostile threats and the rebellions against magic suppression; to ensure vast world peace and order. The demons, a hostile race, were in truth never extinct but instead dwelling on a faraway island, called the Demon Continent.
Just because the people of Earth had failed to recognize the existence of these creatures; chaos was beginning to dawn. The very first phase was to reawaken everyone's magic, which was suppressed because of the Great Rendell's Spell. The grim city lit up as something spanned across the globe, something they could not delineate.
Citizens felt sensations rushing through their bodies; as if they were being charged with power—and they were. The government already knew that world order was about to be upended.

The President sat in his office with a high Bureaucrat sitting opposite him. Mr. Armstrong looked at the President with apathy in his eyes. He didn't fear what was going with the world. Much less did he care. It was the President's job to take care of those problems. "Sir," he said, "what is your opinion on this new circumstance?"
The President had a cigarette betwixt his lips. He certainly didn't fear the current dire situation either. "Well, I don't know what I should really say. My opinions are the people's opinions—combined. But I can still be real; not all of me was lost because of this high political role I must play."
"I'd very much like you to be real, sir." Mr. Armstrong replied. "Our Great Rendell is dead, and the demons are beginning to breach the city in human forms."
The President's eyes darkened. "To be real, I was expecting that this day would come. In the past, I would've bombarded the Demon Continent with all the nuclear bombs if I weren't stopped. But today, I know bombs aren't gonna be enough to take out monsters like them.
"But do I fear them? Fuck no. Yes, the order we've built will be screwed, but what does it matter now? As I said before, I was expecting 'em. Let them come. We'll give them what they want; then we'll take it back. They're not the only ones powerful ..."
"What exactly do they want, sir?"
The President leaned in, "Carnage."

Jin heaved, irritated. "Fucking easy tasks." A towel was on his shoulder. He took the towel, and wiped a negligible amount of sweat from his face.
He barely broke a sweat.
"Oh, I've still got 15 upgrade points from yesterday's man hunting." He opened a system screen upon the mere thought of it.
Jin had spent all the points on skill this time. And of course, it faintly bothered him. After all, it was a level one skill that had caused his Grandmother and dog to perish.
He still regretted it. But somehow; regret wasn't a thing he felt strongly now. His feelings were more so on the cusps of impotent. Yet, it felt as though it was always a part of him—this decrease in sentience. The system was to be blamed.
[Skill: 35]
[Skill Lvl 30 reached!]
[New Skill: Invisibility]
{Invisibility: Become completely undeceivable to the sense of sight for a period of time}
"That should come in handy. Let's say I want to take down a gang when they can't even see me." he smirked softly.
He heard his door open, and turned to it.
It was Ashton. He stood at the door, and said. "Um, Jin?"
He was expecting Jin to reply. Jin didn't. He stood looking at him, with slit eyes.
He averted his eyes, and continued. "Ah, there's someone at the door. Dobby and Tristan's gone grocery shopping, and I'm," he blushed, "too scared to check myself."
It was totally understandable. Who could blame him? After what happened because of Flint, Ashton had become a lot more discreet and apprehensive. Even going as far as to fear going grocery shopping with Tristan and Dobby. Jin blamed himself for this.
He walked past Ashton, and walked into the living room. He stopped at the front door, and paused for a moment. A familiar scent entered his nostrils. It was a flowery smell. Pleasant. Jin knew it. A nuance appeared on his visage. What was she doing here?
He placed his hand on the door knob, and revolved it until it a clicking sounded. He pulled the door toward him, and saw Sylvia standing, uneasy. Unable to look him in the eyes. Overpowering guilt.
Jin furrowed his brows at Sylvia. He stared at her for a while; quiescently. Rage festering inside him. "What are you doing here!?" he snapped, his eyes beginning to glow green.
She flinched, taking a step back. She clasped her hands behind her back; her eyes downcast at the floor. "I-I need to talk to you … there's a—"
He scowled at her. His nose looking down at her, chauvinistically. "You need to talk to me after stabbing me in the back?"
She finally looked at him. "I didn't stab you in the back. I wasn't with them when they did it, I didn't know they were about to do something like that. And that's why my life's in danger. S-since I know about them, they'll want to end me off. You need to listen to me, Jin."
Jin gritted his teeth, and slammed the door on her. His blood was boiling to steam. He placed his head on the door, closing his eyes. Why was she here? How could he be so stupid to not see betrayal in the past?
It all came back to him in that instant. Flint, Alura, Krod, Baron, and Sylvia herself. He thought they were all his friends—a huge blunder that had hindered his sight. Blinded him. He couldn't see what was being set up.
And that's why his trust issues were at its peak.
"What's wrong, Jin?" he heard Ashton from behind.
Why was she here? He didn't see her when they attacked them on the roof. He in fact didn't see her for days before that even happened. Was she speaking the truth? He knotted his brows. Or was it … another trap.
Ultimately, Jin made up his mind to open the door again. If it was another trap; he didn't care. He wanted it to be another trap. So that he could fight. So that he could win this time, and not need someone there to save him.
He was going to take advantage of Sylvia being alone. He was about to interrogate her. He opened the door; and looked daggers at her. "Come in." he growled.
It was time to lash out, and he surely didn't care if it was a girl.
