Loki’s Successor System
Chapter 97: Three Days of Happiness (8: Finale)
Jin grimaced. "What? I thought they got murdered during a bank robbery!"
She looked away. "They did. But I'm the one at fault for it. I insisted that I had removal surgery again. My parents were forced—that day—to go withdraw money for the operation. They were essentially very poor, just so you know, yet I remained careless about their financial situation at the time. In short, they went to the bank for the money and received bullets to their bodies. I … killed them. My brother and I were forever alone afterward.
"I had to drop out of school to take care of him. We insisted on not going to an orphanage. As a freelancer, I did whatever I could have done to get money. That's how I got where I am today."
Jin peered at her for a while. Then, he turned his head, looking away. "Parent murderer, huh? I guess we're both alike in that regard."
It became quiet for a moment. Sylvia had moved her hands from her skirt. And when she had done so; a strong gust of wind blew her skirt up again; revealing her pink underwear. She embarrassingly pulled the skirt down again. "These winds are perverts."
Jin was looking at her. He had somehow managed to laugh. He laughed aloud. And what laughing eyes, he looked at Sylvia again. "Most of the time, you're all gloomy and sad. But sometimes you can get silly just like the rest of us. I finally understand what your parents had to cope with."
Sylvia remained silent; keeping her eyes to slits. Her eyes were glassy. A nuance of profound sorrow lingered on her countenance. Her radiant silver eyes had dulled. But remnants of the beauty in them lingered.
Jin noticed the change in her eyes. Was it something he had said? He didn't pay attention to anything else other than her ethereal eyes. His lips slowly parted. "Those aren't normal eyes. They're that of an angel's. They changed color."
Sylvia looked at him. "I want to explain my eye color, but it's better I don't. I'm sure it's already been a long day for you. People ask me about them all the time. I actually wore eye contact lenses for half of my life, trying to avoid attention. I don't wanna give you too much—"
"Can I," Jin chimed in, "kiss you?"
Sylvia quickly tossed her head in his direction. Her eyes widened in shock. "W-what," she stuttered, "what did you say?" Confusion was clear in her eyes.
Jin kept his eyes half-closed. "I wanna kiss you. And I have my reasons."
Sylvia's cheeks flushed. She was looking at a black-haired teenage kid just about her age. With a tattoo below his right eye, and falling onto his cheek. His lips were akin to the color of fresh cherry blossoms. His attractiveness was conspicuous. Yet, she was scared to kiss him. She hesitated. She did certainly have a reason to. It was clear that Jin was becoming just another monster in the world. Could she trust him? Should she even be near him?
Her heart quickened its beats. Why was she near him anyway? Why was she staying at his house? He had already told her that her innocence was proved to him? Was she staying for his protection, knowing that Alura was after her? Staying to further prove her innocence to him? Was she staying because ... she liked him? Or was she staying because she didn't want to leave him ... because she saw the trauma in him, and because she was—to an extent—the cause of this trauma, and she felt sorry for him? Usually, she was cold when it came to people. Why wasn't she cold to him? She heard blood thundering in her ears; crescendoing ... faster. Pulses. All because she knew the answer to her questions. To every single question; her heart answered yes.
She now looked at Jin; with certainty that she did love this boy. However; she would rather not kiss him. At least not tonight. She wanted to be there for him. With all he's been experiencing, he needed a genuine romantic partner to have his back. She wanted to be this partner. But ... she felt too scared. Jin was changing too—
Jin suddenly placed a hand upon her cheek. "I'll kiss you with or without your permission. I'm experimenting."
Sylvia was quelled. She felt her skin going warm everywhere, though mainly at her thighs since she pushed them together—uncomfortable in her current position. Her cheeks flushed. Her face crimsoned. Her heart was thundering in her chest.
Jin slowly ran his hand down her rubescent cheek and stopped at her chin. He turned her head to him, looking her in the eyes. He then deliberately carried his head to hers. In doing so, he heard her heart throbbing. The warmth of frisson escaped her parted lips, entering his nostrils. Her breath smelt alluding to his sense of smell. Eventually, lips touched hers, and he shared his breath with her. The scents of their breaths meshed perfectly, and they both closed their eyes such that they sharing looks just as they were now sharing saliva.
After a brief moment; Jin edged his head away from her; with serenity in his eyes. Then, these eyes began to glow. Sylvia looked at him. "You love me, Sylvia. And you would do anything for me. You'll die for me. Do you understand?" Jin demanded; cupping his hand around her neck.
With glassy eyes; she looked up at him; able to see the glow in her eyes. She hesitated. "I ... understand."
Jin wasn't satisfied. "Repeat after me," he commanded, " I am Jin's pawn. He is my king. And it will be almost impossible to get promoted to his queen unless he is always pleased with me."
Sylvia looked up at him again. "I am Jin's pawn. He is my king," she echoed with mild slurs to her speech, "And it will be almost impossible to get promoted to his queen unless he is always pleased with me."
A screen appeared in Jin's face.
[Effect: Deceptive Delusion]
He peered at Sylvia again. The green glow in his eyes faltered. "Now ..." he said, "there is something that you're not telling me ... spill it."
Sylvia heaved. "Fine," she said. " mentioned removal surgery earlier because I have ..."
Suddenly, she stood on her feet. Jin looked up at her. Her skirt was blown up; however, this time did not hear. Suddenly, her silver eyes glimmered. Then the glimmering intensified. And suddenly, strange protrusions of absolute congruity burst through the back of Sylvia's clothes. They were colorful and brimmed with energy. The protrusions were sharp and resembled the wings of a butterfly. They were, indeed ...
"Wings! Because I have wings," Sylvia said.
Jin gasped. "You're a fairy!?"
