Yan Yi opened his eyes and was enveloped by a strange pheromone scent.

He struggled to get up, but his spine felt heavy as if it was nailed to a pillar. He reached out to touch his back. There was indeed a light metal injector nailed to his spine as a cold liquid drug poured into his body along the crevices of his spine. Most of his body felt cold and numb.

There was darkness around without a single ray of light. He stretched out a hand to feel where he was, but he just reached out to over ten centimetres before he touched a barbed wire fence.

Just by extending an arm, Yan Yi had already exhausted the strength in his entire body. He laid on his side as he panted weakly, losing his spirits to continue his search.

Someone pushed open the door to enter, and turned on the light.

Like a poisonous snake sticking out its tongue, the extremely rich scent of opium poppy rolled over. It belonged to an M2 high-grade alpha.

Yan Yi was unable to open his eyes from the harsh light. After a while, he squinted his eyes, only then could he clearly see the current circumstance he was in.

He was locked in a narrow animal cage lined with barbed wire on one side.

Shao Wenjing squatted down beside him. He stretched out his finger into the cage and gently touched his cheek, licking his lower lip, “You’re finally awake. I saved you from hell, aren’t you going to thank me?”

Yan Yi raised his eyes with difficulty and looked at him in a daze, the light grey pupils of his eyes seemed to be shrouded in a layer of dust.

Shao Wenjing sat down in front of him and opened the cage door before touching his cheek gently.

His cheeks were streaked with tears, but no expression could be seen on his face.

Three years ago, he had investigated the lop-eared rabbit omega, who was Lu Shangjin’s beloved wife, kept in a golden house and who unexpectedly possessed the rare A3 glands. Since then, he had been thinking of ways to seize this little rabbit.

However, Lu Shangjin was an extremely insane man. After stealing his things, there was no telling of what appalling revenge he could come up with.

So he could only continue to make Lu Shangjin bored of this little rabbit a little more. As long as the little rabbit firmly believed that he was pregnant, have an abortion because of Lu Shangjin, and let them willingly go their separate ways, he could benefit from it.

In fact, Shao Wenjing thought he hadn’t done much other than occasionally fanning the winds and lighting a fire at the right time, freeing the two people who were tormenting themselves as soon as possible. If they really were a pair of mandarin ducks whose love was stronger than gold, how could they be easily separated?

Yan Yi didn’t move, his rabbit ears drooping down morbidly.

His eyes were already covered by the despair of loneliness, no feelings could be shown at all, like a walking corpse.

Shao Wenjing tutted as he opened the cage and carried Yan Yi out, gently placing his soft body in his arms, “Come, let’s go out for a while.”

Yan Yi gently pushed him away and murmured absently, “Not going.”

“Let’s go, it’ll be better for your body to take a walk outside.” Shao Wenjing gave him a cordial smile.

The maple trees in the courtyard grew luxuriously green by the hot spring pool. Shao Wenjing took his hand and led him to sit on the bench by the hot spring.

“After a few months, these maple trees will turn red, and the red leaves will float down onto the white steam of the water surface. It’s especially beautiful.”

Shao Wenjing was like a spider sizing up the flying insects in its web, slowly approaching its prey to be slaughtered.

His gaze swept over the glands at the back of Yan Yi’s neck several times. Right now, the little lop-eared rabbit was still too fragile, perhaps he wouldn’t be able to bear the bite of his sharp fangs.

The breeze blew open the collar of Yan Yi’s coat, revealing the cyan blue serial number PBB000002 imprinted on his pale and frail chest.

This line of serial numbers was powerful proof.

Shao Wenjing couldn’t wait to bite through him and enter him, scraping off the smell of Lu Shangjin in his body.

An A3 omega was nearly invulnerable. Their most fatal weakness was that they could be instinctively infatuated with the alpha who marked them. They would be driven by him, love him manically, and become a ruthless sharp blade in his hands.

Therefore, without hesitating to turn back, he was reluctant to leave Lu Shangjin’s favour.

“Are you sleepy?” Shao Wenjing held Yan Yi’s head and let him lean against the hollow of his shoulder, “Where do you want to sleep?”

Yan Yi leaned against him stiffly without moving at all, like a statue.

“It’s established that Lu Shangjin is cold and heartless. You’d be worthless if you stick by him and don’t leave. You can’t move him emotionally, you can’t even move yourself.” Shao Wenjing leaned against the back of the chair, putting his hands on the beam as he stretched out his long legs and lazily crossed them.

Yan Yi lifted his eyelids rigidly as he showed some reaction.

No one could see the little prince in the castle through his eyes and hear the sound of the piano that saved him from the abyss. They couldn’t feel the warmth of the breeze blowing against his body when he was carried out of the bloody differentiation base by Lu Shangjin. He was the one who had saved him from a mountain of swords and a sea of flames.

So, in the eyes of others, his deep affections were worthless.

This made him feel more pain. No one understood what he had put his whole heart into. No one cared. He could only be ignored or ridiculed.

No one understood his feelings at all.

Yan Yi touched his lower abdomen which had become flat again.

Now, he didn’t even understand it himself.

Lu Shangjin killed their baby himself.

All the gratitude, love and appreciation he had for Lu Shangjin had already completely vanished once he decided to kill the little life in his stomach.

Lu Shangjin had mercilessly demolished the little cabin. High-rise buildings rose from the flat ground, and the footprints climbing up the creeper vines on the wall became unsightly traces that had to be erased.

(T/N: The author is probably describing this in a metaphorical sense)

Yan Yi was once invulnerable.

Like a piece of tempered glass, he could remain firm and unmovable no matter how much he was beaten or knocked into.

But as long as the weakest part could be found, with a gentle tap, the entire glass would explode into pieces, abruptly destroyed into dust.

What kind of things could suddenly be destroyed?

When you see an old tree and its dead vines falling to the ground with a loud crash, you would only see the moment they were broken by the wind and rain.

Thinking about it, it was very fragile.

It had suffered a hundred years with its heart rotting alone, but the birds on its branches would only blame it for damaging their fallen nests.

Yan Yi looked at the hot spring in front of him as his mind wandered.

What would it feel like to be submerged in the water?

For the water to close in tightly and fill his nose, snatching away the air he depended on to survive, stinging his windpipe, and finally letting him sink to the bottom in permanent sleep; what kind of feeling would it be like?

It wouldn’t hurt as much as it did now, would it?

He touched the injector attached to his spine and wanted to rip it off.

“Don’t take it off, it’s just a gland energizer, it’ll make you feel a little more comfortable.” Shao Wenjing thoughtfully released soothing pheromones for him. Surprisingly, their compatibility fit wasn’t low.

Yan Yi could no longer spare any energy to resist the intense stimulation of their high compatibility fit.

This was an emotionless barbaric world. Only animalistic desires and plundering existed, no laws nor bottom line. The strongest became king, and the mating of two people was only due to their level of compatibility, born to reproduce more powerful offspring.

The A3 glands had undergone evolution that did not conform to the laws of nature, going beyond the rules of this world and had become a unique existence of mutation.

Such delicate feelings and devotion, laughable and inferior in the eyes of others, should not exist in a world like this.. It was like a human falling in love with an animal; an animal could respond to you, and similarly respond to others, because its feelings were too feeble. There was no enthusiasm and devotion, no long-term affection, only the level of compatibility fit.

So Ye Wan chose to leave.

Yan Yi was also about to completely disappear into ashes.

Living was too painful. So what if he was carried away by the tide?

“Why hang yourself from a tree to die? I’m more faithful than Lu Shangjin. What’s more, our compatibility fit is 87%, I just measured it. Isn’t it tempting?”

Yan Yi answered impassively.

“Oh, I’m very tempted.” Shao Wenjing carried Yan Yi and placed him on his lap before gently kissing his neck.

“The Shao family is waiting for you to be my wife. You don’t have to do anything, just listen to me, it’s very relaxed, right?”

“If you need, you can ask me to accompany you any time. I feel very comfortable staying together with an omega of high compatibility.”

“Lu Shangjin is wasteful. He didn’t mark you nor let you fight for him. You are a natural killing machine, why are you willing to be wronged by staying in the kitchen with your whole body smelling of soot? From now on, I’ll find suitable tasks for you, you have to do what you should do. The look of you holding a gun is charming.”

Yan Yi looked at his own hand. The calluses from holding guns had long disappeared. His soft, smooth fingers and thin arms could only do housework.

“You just want children.” Shao Wenjing pulled him into his arms from behind and put his chin on his shoulder, his soft voice bewitching him by his ear.

“I would never hurt an omega, do you want to consider me and see?”
