Lord of The Mysterious Realms

Chapter 18: Abilities and Gifts

(TN: I am changing Inherited Sage to Legacy Sage to stop future confusions I will make a list of all 12 gods and goddess.)

"The level is too low so the spirit power is not enough."

That was Jenkins' conclusion.

The three white, green and purple dots in front of him represented three abilities, the green one had already been tested, so naturally there was no need to do anything else, while [Unknown Path Ahead] ability is not an active ability , Jenkins had tested it many times but could not find anyway to use the ability, for now he only wanted to see what [Simple Boxing] was for.

"As long as I don't swing it too hard, it shouldn't cause too much damage, right?"

He thought in his head and activated the ability with his spirit. Soon, a cool stream of air extended down his arm toward his right fist,he looked at the arm carefully but it hadn't changed much from the outside, nor did it have the any glowing effect that Jenkins had expected, but he could feel the stream of air was slowly flowing with time.

After a moment's consideration, he stood up and walked to the centre of the room and slamming his fists into the air .

There was a slight sonic boom~ and the airflow in his arm disappeared completely ,Jenkins cocked the corner of his mouth.

Good, even though was still not as good as the weakest Saint Seiya, but at least it was at the limit of what was humanly possible.

( TN: Ig most of you already know that but Saint Seiya is a Japanese manga and anime series)

He sat back at his desk once more and looked at the dots of light and bubbles, that were in front of him. These were the skills that would allow him to settle in this world, so they had to be taken seriously. But if every Enchanter have the World's Gift ability, why did he only has one for his two souls ?

"Am I being too greedy?"

Jenkins suddenly felt amused by the thought that perhaps the world only recognised one Jenkins.

The light spots and bubbles were spread out in front of him in a regular pattern, with the very centre being a light spot, then the bubbles around a circle, and the two sketch like [enchantments] on the outermost side. From what he had learned today, the [enchantments] were capable of enchanting certain specific abilities, but they had not been discovered yet.

Feeling slightly tired, Jenkins let the vision disappear. He closed his eyes and rubbed his temples, then got up and pulled the curtains back. It was dark outside and only the lights of the neighbours' homes continued to work. The dimly lit and tidy Maidenhaven Road was as peaceful as ever and nothing had changed with the arrival of a certain transmigrator.

The bedroom had many large books in addition to the necessary furniture. A very small number of them were study books that the elder Williiams had collected for his son, while the rest were legends, novels and similar stuff..

Now was the time of peace and progress, so the cultural industry was flourishing, and the original Jenkins was fascinated by these stories.

Jenkins rubbed his hand briefly over the spines of the neatly placed books, and although his inherited memory was a little fuzzy even on the way home from church, he was unusually clear on the contents of the books, and Jenkins could even name the middle paragraph of page 34 of book five of the Detective Knight's biography : his finger pressed against as an extremely good self-generating side dish.

"Qualified young man."

Jenkins thought as he pulled out the third book of the Detective Knight biography, which was, well.... a Vine Press book. This was the codebook Mr. Hood had chosen at the end of the ‘legal gathering' so it seemed there was no need to to purchase it.

Jenkins had not yet gotten used to his new parents, so he had just finished dinner and had returned to his room early on the pretext that he was a little too tired for the day. He was ready to go to bed after rummaging through the original owner's belongings to make sure there were no mistakes in his memories, but to his surprise there was a knock on his room door.

Putting down the carefully preserved novel in his hands, he pulled open the door. At the door was John Williams in slippers and a box wrapped in ribbons in his hands.

"What's up?"

As he spoke, Jenkins motioned his brother to enter the room. John nodded and placed the box on the desk, then saw the novels.

"Don't read too much of this kind of book, it will have bad effects on your body."

He seemed to have misunderstood something, Jenkins gave a hopeless expression.

Wait a second......how did he know what was in it?

"Jenkins, congratulations on finding yourself a job. Although you don't have the same reading skills as big brother and me, Second Brother, I'm sure you have a talent of your own."

"It's easy to get a beating when you talk like that."

Jenkins thought this in his mind, while his face showed half shyness and half anger.

"John, please watch the tone of your voice when you talk to your brother." The boy across from him immediately gave a "You are still like this" look and thrust the box he had brought toward Jenkins.

"It's a gift, when big brother got his job with the professors at the university, everyone gave gifts to him, this is from me to you."

"Can I open it?"

Jenkins asked, but his hands were already tugging at the straps.

"Please, after all I had a hard time wrapping it."

Inside the box was a red velvet snap-lid case, and with a press on the button jutting out of the front, the case snapped open to reveal the silver pocket watch outlined in a branch and leaf pattern inside.

"Oh."

Jenkins sighed in admiration, removing the pocket watch and opening the lid with a flip of his wrist.

"This cost a fortune, didn't it?"

"Yeah, it was supposed to be for my own use, I've been saving my pocket money for six months, but since you're so coincidental ......"

He didn't say any more, just shrugged his shoulders.

Jenkins put the pocket watch back in the box, feeling a little touched for a moment.

After seeing John off, Jenkins looked at the pocket watch for a moment, then got up and tucked him into his coat pocket. After a quick tidy-up, prepared to go to bed.

Before tucking in the covers, he suddenly remembered something. Sitting up from the bed, he tapped his temples, but no items in the room, including the Bishop's brooch and his brother's pocket watch, gave off an unusual glow.

"I told you, how can you be like those novel protagonists that have legendary artifacts at home?"

He laughed to himself, closed his eyes and had his first natural sleep since arriving in this world.

The next morning was also a busy one at the Williams family home, as it was the second son's first day of work after his "return to good side". Mary Williams had been crying and praying and thanking the Legacy Sage since morning, and John had taken Jenkins to the carriage before going to work.

Maidenhaven Road was on the east side of Nolan, while Pops Antiques was near the docklands on the west side, and Jenkins feared it would be a two-hour walk if he used his legs.

"Going to workplace?"

The coachman asked in a muffled voice as he left Maidenhaven Road.

"Yeah, first day of work."

"Going to work in a horse and cart ......"

The coachman muttered in a whisper and Jenkins could only smile awkwardly. It was only because of Mary's strong request that he agreed to this, otherwise he would have been out the door by half past six.
