Love is a Sweet Poison

Gabriel moves away from the door and like a little chick, Mayumi grabs Gabriel's yukata following closely. "Sorry, I meant to have you in bed before you came too but something very unexpected happened. Mayumi's other prospective worker just got fired." 

Mayumi pulls the door open for Gabriel as he is carrying Amelia. She follows them in and sits next to Amelia. "Auntie, did I wake you up? I'm so very sorry if I did." The tears that had stopped once again rolled down her cheeks. 

Amelia grabbed her handkerchief and weakly wiped the tears away from Mayumi's eyes. "You, my dear sweet girl did absolutely nothing wrong. I came too naturally. Are you okay? Do you want to cuddle?" She holds out her arms to indicate that Mayumi could come and lay with her if she chooses to.

Gabriel patted Mayumi on the head and nodded that it was okay for her to join Amelia. He was sitting on the other side of Amelia. Watching her closely and making sure that she did not have any pain. 

Mayumi nods her head and crawls in beside Amelia. "I am okay now Auntie. Uncle and Grandmother helped me out." She was laying down but before she got comfortable she kissed Amelia's cheek. She rested her little head on Amelia's shoulder blade. She held onto the side of Amelia's yukata still slightly crying. 

Amelia kissed the top of Mayumi's head and turned and looked at Gabriel. "Are you alright?" Her eyes locked with his as she gave him a weak smile. 

"I am not worried about myself. I am angry that this happened to Mayumi. A maid should never be so harsh and treat a child like that. She is such a gentle girl. Sara was busy with her house duties but with that girl fired I think that we both know that Sara will become Mayumi's full-time caretaker. Suzuka is going to be busy running the household with Mother and also helping out in the classes that are taught here, but that is enough of this for now. Rest and I will prepare to show you all the paintings that are in this room." Gabriel lifts her hand to his lips and kisses her hand before smiling down at her.

"Okay, I will rest now." Amelia's eyes were already growing heavy and so instead of fighting it she embraced it and fell into a deep sleep.

Gabriel looks at the two girls sleeping in his bedding before getting up and moving things around. He moved the paintings around making sure to pull all of them out and placed them in order. After he was satisfied with the results he got up and pulled out a piece of paper and sat at the table. He started to sketch the picture of the two sleeping in his bed.

~Amelia's Dream~

"My, what a good boy you are. Thank you for your gift." Amelia took the flower and placed it in her hair. 

Gabriel walked over carrying a girl that was also two years old. "Mama!" The little girl started to squirm in Gabriel's arms trying to get to Amelia. 

Gabriel laughs happily and lets the girl down then watches her run to Amelia. He walks over and kisses Amelia on the cheek. "I can not believe that we had two beautiful children. Your illness hasn't spiked back up has it, my angel?"

Amelia smiled up at him sweetly. "No, not as of late." She rests her hand on her belly and smiles up at Gabriel. "But I do not think that our twins will mind having another sibling, What do you think my love?" 

Gabriel's eyes light up. He picks her up and spins her around. "When did you find out and how did I not know about it??" 

"Just yesterday. Kazuki is the one that diagnosed me. I never thought that I would be strong enough for this and yet here we are." Once her feet are on the ground she hugs Gabriel, rubs her stomach then bends down and hugs the two children on the ground. "Are you two ready to be a big brother and big sister?" 

"Mama has a baby growing in her tummy?" The little girl looks up and tilts her head to the side. 

Gabriel happily bent down and kissed both children on the head. "Don't worry. You will always be our babies too." 

~Dream ending~

Amelia stirred and looked around the room to find Gabriel. "Gabriel?" 

Gabriel heard his name and got up. He walked over as quickly as he could. He brought the sketch that he did and showed it to her. "I am here. This is what I did while you both slept. How are you feeling?" 

"I had a dream of our future or maybe it was but a wish. Do you think that it would be possible to have children?" Amelia's eyes looked at the drawing and smiled happily. 

"I do think that it will be possible. There is nothing that has been said that we are not able to. You are sick and a bit weak but that does not mean that you cannot give birth. That is my medical thinking. My overprotective self wants to give you anything that you want within reason. What did you dream about?" Gabriel touches her cheek while staring into her eyes. 

Amelia shook her head. "I think it would be best to not say it out loud. It will give me hope while I know that it is not possible at this time." She looks at all the paints stacked up and her eyes go wide. "You have so much to show me."

"If you think it is best that you don't tell me then, I will not ask anything about it but I am curious. These are all the paintings that I have to show you." Gabriel gets up and picks up the first one. "This is from the first time that I saw you at the library." In the painting is Amelia sitting at a desk reading a book about medicinal herbs. "I was captivated and you drew me in but I was a coward to never approach you." 

Amelia looks at the picture and sees the detail that went into the picture. "I remember this day. I was looking up some of the herbs that I thought were inside my medication but I was only able to identify one herb before I had to go home. I got lucky that day because they allowed me to look at that book only if I did not take it home." 

Gabriel places that one to the side and pulls out the next one. "This is from the first day that I saw you at school. You were smiling happily and then you went to the nurse's office. I thought that it was strange and your friends went with you." 

In the picture was Amelia smiling with Ami and Sachi. They were in the hallway and they looked at each other happily. "You really captivated that moment. It was time for the afternoon dose of my medication. Ami and Sachi never wanted me to be alone so they decided that they would come with me. I would not fight them. They are both amazing individuals." 

"I am glad that I saw this moment and captured it to your liking." Gabriel placed it down. "Now don't get mad at me but I have seen you sit out in the shade a lot while you were in gym class and I never understood why. That is until I found out about your illness." The next one was her with her eyes closed sitting in the shade leaning against the tree. "I never got close enough but from my window seat I could see you resting in the shade." 

"How embarrassing. You did do a lovely job. I only went out when that weather was okay for me to sit on the field. Any other time I would be in the nurse's office resting. Aunt Yoko always wanted me to get some fresh air so she would sometimes leave the window open in the office so that I could look out when I woke up. I am not mad at you over this. I think that you did a fabulous job." Amelia touched her cheek embarrassed.
