Love, Jerk, and Affair

Chapter 13:Bad father, bad husband

In the afternoon after work hours finished, Mark immediately got out of the office and drove his car to an apartment that was quite far from his house.

After an hour's drive, Mark ended up in an apartment building. He immediately walked while dragging the suitcase that had been prepared by Adriana. The man entered the skyscraper and down the corridor to the fifth floor in an elevator.

Arriving on the fifth floor, Mark got out of the elevator and walked towards one of the white doors, then knocked on it.

Knock ... knock ...

It only took ten seconds that the door opened and there was a beautiful girl who immediately hugged him.

"I miss you," said the girl.

"I miss you too, Maura," replied Mark as he tightened his hug.

"Why did it take so long, I've been waiting for you since earlier, you're not on time?" asked Maura as she took off her embrace.

"Sorry, I have to finish my work first. so that in the next three days no one will bother me," said Mark.

"Are you sure she wouldn't suspect anything?" asked Maura.

"I'm sure," Mark replied casually. "Last night I asked her to have a good time so she wouldn't be suspicious," he continued with a sly smile.

Who knows? Behind his kind attitude towards Adriana, it turned out that it was only to cover up his plans for his affair with Maura. Hm ... you disloyal man!

"You were nice to her, but you said you didn't love her." Maura looked away, expressing jealousy over Mark's treatment of Adriana.

"Then, how about me, when do we formalize this relationship?" asked Maura as she turned to look at Mark

"When the time comes," said Mark.

Maura only smiled faintly, looking away. 'At least you're back to me, I don't care if you're a married man because I want you so badly,' she thought

Adriana was worried about Evan because he still had a fever until the afternoon. The medicine she gave didn't last long. Just get better for a while, then have another fever.

Evan also looks weak. Usually, if the child has a fever, he still wants to play. But not at all this time. his fever was very high and he didn't want to play. Just lying down since morning.

Seeing Evan's growing concern, Adriana decided to take him to the hospital. she immediately got ready. After that carry him out of the room.

The house looks deserted because the in-laws may be out. Byanca might as well be out with her college friends, so no driver at home could take Adriana and Evan to the hospital.

Adriana walked out of the gate carrying Evan. Anxiously, the young mother waited for a taxi or anything to pass.

From a distance, Dave's car was seen heading home. The young man stopped his car then got down to Adriana.

"Where are you going?" asked Dave as he looked at Adriana who was carrying Evan while carrying a small bag in her hand.

"I have to take Evan to the hospital, he has a fever since this morning," said Adriana with a sad look, she was very worried about her son who looked limp.

"I'll take you," said Dave to which Adriana responded only with a nod. He immediately walked to the car and opened the door for his sister-in-law and nephew. After that, he also entered and drove to the nearest hospital.

on the way, sometimes Dave turned his head towards Adriana who was holding Evan in her arms. He felt sorry for his sister-in-law and nephew and thought of Mark who did not even take his wife and children to the hospital.

"Did Mark know that Evan was sick?" asked Dave.

"Not yet," replied Adriana. "He said he was going to be out of town for three days," she continued sounding displeased.

Dave nodded in understanding then frowned after hearing Adriana's answer. 'Out of town three days? As far as I know, the company has no projects outside the city,' he thought.

Dave feels suspicious that Mark has lied to Adriana. However, he didn't want to tell this to his sister-in-law, for fear that it would make her sadder even more.

After 15 minutes of drifting, they finally arrived at the hospital. Evan immediately received treatment from a doctor. now, Adriana and Dave watched the doctor who was examining the boy.

"This is a symptom of dengue fever, he should be treated here for a few days," said the doctor after examining Evan. He immediately ordered the nuns to put an IV needle in the boy's right hand.

After a few minutes of seeing Evan whimpering in fear at the needle attached to his hand, Adriana immediately approached her son, looked at him sadly, and then kissed his forehead. Without feel, the tears just dripping. The young mother could not bear to see her child sick.

"Take the best care for my nephew," exclaimed Dave.

"Of course, then, excuse me." The doctor immediately left the room with the two nurses who helped him.

Dave looked at Adriana and Evan with pity. he kept thinking about Mark's real whereabouts. How could his brother leave for reasons of leaving the city, while there is no interest there?

"You just go home Dave, let me accompany Evan," said Adriana.

"No, I'll stay here," Dave replied.

"But you must be tired. You haven't showered, haven't eaten, you better go home first." Adriana insisted. She was uncomfortable if she always bothered Dave because of her, she even felt that her brother-in-law looked more like a proper father figure for Evan.

Maybe, if she had known Dave better than Mark, she might have preferred Dave. But her blind love for Mark makes her unable to refuse when the man seduces her with the sweetness of love that turns out to be only for a moment.

"Okay. I'll be home but I'll come back later." finally Dave agreed. He also felt stifling and uncomfortable because he had not showered.

"Later please bring clothes for me and Evan. Just ask the maid at home," said Adriana.

"Okay, then I'll go home first," said goodbye to Dave, then immediately left the room.

"Hello," said Zach when he connected with Adriana.

"Hello, Zach. Why did you suddenly call me?" asked Adriana from the telephone.

"It's okay. I just want to chat with you," replied Zach casually, imagining the face of the woman on the phone.

"Sorry, Zach, but I'm accompanying Evan. He's sick, and we're in the hospital now," said Adriana sounding sad.

"In which hospital?" asked Zach worriedly.

"Santa Barbara Hospital," replied Adriana.

"I'll be there," said Zach then immediately disconnected his phone then got out of the house, driving his car to the hospital. For some reason, his little heart seemed to push him to meet Adriana and Evan, as if his care for that woman had never faded.
