171 Unwilling to Part

With the drinks in their hands, the two continued to walk along the garden, enjoying the night’s breeze and each other’s presence.

As Zhang Li Xue was silently peeking at the man, Bai Qi was also doing the same.

Fortunately, it was a little dark outside and both of them were unaware that they were looking at each other.

Zhang Li Xue suddenly recalled the question she had when she saw him upstairs a while ago. She was curious to know whether Bai Qi had someone he admired, but was too embarrassed to ask.

If she ask now, would her intention be exposed to him?

She thought that she could not let that happen. After all, Zhang Li Xue still was not sure just how much she liked this man.

Perhaps she could find out his secret through Little Xi Xi the next time she saw her.

Zhang Li Xue glanced at Bai Qi again. Seeing that he seemed to be deep in his thought, she decided not to disturb him.

After walking for a while, Zhang Li Xue recalled the scene where Bai Qi was discussing a few matters with the nurse again. Then, she started to worry if her presence here would distract him from work.

Although Bai Qi had assured her that it should be alright for him to take a few minutes of break, Zhang Li Xue was still worried that her selfishness to come and see him would cause him trouble.

The hospital’s garden was not that big.

Soon, the two of them finally walked into one full circle.

Her lips pressed into a thin line. Zhang Li Xue stopped on her track and turned to look at the person beside her. “I should head back now. Otherwise, my parents would worry.”

His eyes drooped a little bit.

Bai Qi was a little disappointed that this meeting would end sooner. He was unwilling to part with his little fairy. However, he could not make her stay. He would worry if she had to drive back later.

“Mmm... Then, I’ll walk you back to your car,” Bai Qi said.
Zhang Li Xue nodded and the two of them turned around to the parking space again.

She could not help but think that this situation was a little bit funny. It seemed that they really came to the garden just to walk around.

Before they would reach her car again, Bai Qi turned and spoke, “Xi Xi missed you. She said it has been a while since the last time she saw you.”

Last time, he could use the reason to thank her as his excuse. This time, other than his little sister, Bai Qi did not know if he could use another way to ask her out.

Bai Qi was worried that if he asked her out bluntly, he was going to scare her.

If Zhang Li Xue started to keep a distance from him, he wouldn’t know what to do.

“When I’m on my off day again,” Bai Qi continued. “Should we go on basketball training again?” He lowered his head and coughed. “It has been a while since I played.”

Her eyes lit up. “Mmm... I missed Little Xi Xi too. Alright then. Let’s go and have a little match when you are free.”

Now that she mentioned a match, Zhang Li Xue suddenly recalled the reason why their match had to end a little earlier the last time.

Suddenly, her cheek reddened as she recalled that accidental kiss on her cheek.

The atmosphere between them turned silent for a few minutes. Zhang Li Xue turned around and pointed at her car. “I should head back now.”

“Uh-huh.” Bai Qi nodded. “Thank you for delivering some snacks to us.”

Zhang Li Xue smiled. “You have to remember to eat it.”

Bai Qi let out a low chuckle. “Alright. Next time you visited the hospital again, you have to let me know. Don’t just leave without seeing me.”

Her calm heartbeat began to accelerate again.

“Next time you happen to stop by, you can let Nurse Tian or anyone on duty let me know,” Bai Qi continued “If I’m not busy or in the middle of an operation, I will come over and see you.”

“Alright.” Zhang Li Xue lowered her gaze to hide her smile and continued to walk forward.

His words meant that he was looking forward to seeing her too, right?

The thought made her giddy.

Although the two had walked slowly, they eventually reached her car.

Zhang Li Xue unlocked the door before turning to Bai Qi again. “I’m here. Then... you should also go back inside.”

Bai Qi did not answer but instead, he continued to stare at the girl for a while. “Li Xue.”

“Ah?”

His lips turned up into a smile. “Remember to text me when you reach home.”

“Oh.”

Looking at Doctor Bai Qi in his white coat while smiling at her made her heart race. It felt as if there was a group of deer going stampede. Then, her stomach was doing a little summersault.

“And, drive safely,” Bai Qi reminded her.

Zhang Li Xue nodded.

Bai Qi waited until she slid into the driver’s seat and drive off. Once her AUDI was no longer in his sight, Bai Qi finally turned around and headed back to his department.

When he returned, Nurse Tian and everyone else could not help but notice that Doctor Bai seemed to be in a very good mood.

Later, he returned to his office to work on his papers and his productivity seemed to have increased.

It could be seen that everything was because a certain someone had come to visit him.

The phone on his desk buzzed. As he was waiting for someone to text him, Bai Qi turned away from his computer to check on his phone.

Seeing the name on the screen made him smile.

He clicked on the notification and saw her message.

“I’ve reached home.”

Bai Qi stared at the phone for a while before he finally replied. “Mmm... Rest well. Good night.”

“Good night.”

However, as Zhang Li Xue put down her phone, she had a feeling that she won’t be getting a good night’s sleep. After walking around the garden with Bai Qi, she could not feel more awake.
