Love So Sweet
Chapter 62
62 A Short Match
The meal ended smoothly with Bai Qi unable to keep his calm with the little fairy beside him. Each time that Zhang Li Xue moved to pick up the dishes on the table, Bai Qi would stiffen in place.
During this meal, Bai Qi seemed to have discovered something interesting.
Zhang Li Xue liked to eat chicken wings a lot.
Perhaps she did not notice it herself, but Zhang Li Xue seemed very happy when she ate her chicken wings.
Bai Qi thought that the way she would silently bite the chicken wing when she thought that he wasn’t watching her was kind of cute.
After the meal, Bai Qi followed his mentor to the study to continue chatting about work. He glanced at Zhang LI Xue before heading upstairs and wondered if he would be seeing her again when come out.
Seeing that the discussion with his mentor lasted for a long time, Bai Qi thought that he wouldn’t see the little fairy again.
Their conversation ended and his mentor suggested staying for a cup of coffee.
As they sat in the living room, his ears picked up the familiar sound of the ball.
.....
Bai Qi turned to look in the direction of the sound and pondered for a long time.
“The kids should be playing basketball outside,” Qi Zheng explained when he saw that his student seemed to be distracted by that sound. “Do you want to take a look?” He stood up and let Bai Qi follow him.
Qi Zheng pushed the glass sliding door and walked out.
On the basketball court a distance away, Qi Zheng’s children were seen playing basketball with Zhang Li Xue.
The little fairy seemed to be teaching the kids some techniques. When Zhang Li Xue dribbled the ball to show around, the kids would focus on her.
The corner of his lips turned to a smile. It has been a long time since he had seen Zhang Li Xe with the orange ball.
Zhang Li Xue was especially good in this sport. In the beginning, she was the one who had taught him a few moves.
She was good with this sport when she was young. Bai Qi couldn’t help but wonder if her skills had gotten better after long years of not seeing each other.
“Except for my wife, everyone in this house seemed to enjoy playing basketball,” Qi Zheng said. “My kids... they were influenced by that girl. Li Xue likes to play basketball and teach them some moves.”
Bai Qi thought that Zhang Li Xue was really good at influencing others to like this sport. Wasn’t he also the same?
“Bai Qi, do you know how to play basketball?”
Bai Qi turned his head when he heard Qi Zheng’s question. “I practiced a little bit in school.”
“Then, would you like to try?” Qi Zheng asked. “How about we go for a short match?” Seeing that the boy was not answering, Qi Zheng let out a cough. “Don’t look at me that way. I actually played a lot of basketball in high school.”
“I didn’t mean anything. I’m just surprised.”
Qi Zheng smiled. “Back then, Li Xue’s father and I were in the same team.”
The memory of how he was tortured to practice basketball by Zhang Li Xue’s father came to his mind, making him shiver.
Qi Zheng waved his hand and let Bai Qi outside just in time to watch Zhang Li Xue shoot a three-pointer. Qi Zheng clapped and walked over. “Li Xue, that was good.”
Zhang Li Xue turned and smiled. “Uncle Qi Zheng. Did you come out to join us?”
“Un. How about you let us join the fun as well? Bai Qi knew how to play basketball. It shouldn’t be a problem.”
Zhang Li Xue noticed that Bai Qi had come out and wondered just how long have the men been watching them practicing.
“Then, Dad, how about a three-on-three match?” Qi Yang suggested.
“Then, I want to be on sister Li Xue’s team,” Qi Yue spoke as she jogged over and held Zhang Li Xue’s hand.
“Bai Qi, how about it?” Qi Zheng asked.
Bai Qi glanced at his little fairy before nodding. “Sounds alright.”
“Then...” Qi Zheng looked at his children before deciding, “Yun Tian, you go and join your sister as well.”
“Oh.” The boy naturally did not have any objection.
Sensing that his student was watching him, Qi Zheng decided to explain, “Don’t think that I am bullying my niece. She’s actually very good in basketball.”
“It’s just a casual match. Don’t take this seriously,” Qi Yang said. He watched his siblings on Zhang Li Xue’s team and thought that he wanted to join them as well.
The six of them stood on the basketball court and started to set up some rules.
It was agreed that this will be a casual match and they will only be playing for half an hour.
The match started and Qi Zheng’s sons started to run around with the ball. Qi Yang was controlling the ball well when his brother, Yun Tian come over and snatched the ball away.
Before Qi Yang could snatch it back, Yun Tian had already passed the ball to their sister, Qi Yue.
Seeing that her father was after her, Qi Yue quickly ran away with the ball and passed it over to Zhang Li Xue. “Sister!”
The kids often played basketball together and it could be seen that they understood each other’s moves well.
Zhang Li Xue caught the ball and dribbled the ball to the hoop. Just as she thought that it would be a good chance for her to shoot, a shadow loomed over and Bai Qi appeared in front of her.
Sensing that the man was about to snatch the ball from her, Zhang Li Xue became more alert.
Their gazes met.
Zhang Li Xue was surprised to see the determination in Bai Qi’s eyes. Looking at the way he moved, she could already sense that Doctor Bai Qi was someone who often played basketball.
Just as Bai Qi had thought that he might be able to snatch the ball away, Zhang Li Xue had pulled off some tricks and slid away from him.
The girl ran towards the hoop and scored.
Yun Tian and Qi Yue clapped happily.
