77 Mommy’s Hug

After exchanging a few words with Zhang Li Xue and her mother, Qi Zheng walked out of the ward with Bai Qi.

“Are you on duty tonight?” Qi Zheng asked.

“Yes, Doctor Qi,” Bai Qi nodded.

His answer made Qi Zheng frown. “Then, your sister is staying with your landlord?” He watched as the young man nodded again and let out a sigh. “I will ask them to make some arrangements for you. Next time, you don’t have to leave her alone.”

“Doctor Qi, you don’t have to do this,” Bai Qi spoke. “It would not be fair to the others. You and your wife had already helped me enough when you let Xi Xi stay with your family when I’m busy. If you continue to give me special treatment, I’m afraid that the others will not be happy. I can still cope with this situation.”

Qi Zheng pursed his lips into a thin line. There was truth in Bai Qi’s words.

Although Bai Qi was his student, he should not give him preferential treatment, the others will only make things difficult for Bai Qi.

As a mentor, he could not protect Bai Qi forever. It was enough that he had offered some help.

Still... Qi Zheng’s heart would ache when he thought of Bai Qi’s little sister. That girl was too pitiful. She had lost her parents at such a young age but was very sensible than his own daughter.

Bai Qi smiled. His heart warmed at the way his mentor had always treated him. “Doctor Qi, thank you.”

Qi Zheng waved his hand. “Since you’re on duty tonight, then, help me to look after my niece. If she’s feeling any discomfort, you have to tell me.”
“Yes, Doctor Qi.”

Bai Qi walked his mentor to the elevator and sighed. He turned around and paused as he was about to reach his office. His hand stopped at the door while thinking of his meeting with his little fairy in her room.

Qi Zheng had actually waited for Zhang Li Xue to wake up before he head back home.

Seeing this was enough to let him know just how much his little fairy was loved by the people around her. It sort of made him feel a little jealous as well.

Bai Qi snapped out of his thought and slapped his cheeks twice.

Instead of being envious of others, it would be better if he worked hard for his and his sister’s future. Perhaps, someday, he too would have a lot of people who would love them as well.

Switching on his laptop, Bai Qi began to work on his report.

In the wardroom, Zhang Li Xue was staring at the wound around her stomach area with a dazed look on her face.

She was still in disbelief that the gastric problem had suddenly changed to appendicitis and she had to undergo surgery.

“Alright, stop staring at the wound. Go ahead and sleep a little bit,” Li Qin Yao stared at her daughter helplessly.

Zhang Li Xue lowered her clothes to cover her stomach. Thinking of how she had lifted her clothes and let other men see her stomach just now made her a little shy.

“What is it? Is it still painful? Should I call someone?” Li Qin Yao began to worry when she saw the look on her daughter’s face.

“No. It’s fine.” Zhang Li Xue flashed a smile.

Li Qin Yao took out her phone and began to send a few texts to her husband. “Li Xue, what do you want to eat for breakfast? I’ll let the auntie know. In the morning, your dad will bring over the food for you.”

“Anything is fine. I’m not picky.” Zhang Li Xue watched as her mother walked over to the sofa and noticed the thick blanket on it.

“Mommy, why don’t you sleep here with me?” Zhang Li Xue said. “It has been a long time since we slept together.”

Li Qin Yao heaved a sigh. She knew that her daughter would often act coquettishly with her whenever she was not feeling well.

“There’s only one bed. How do you expect me to sleep with you?”

Zhang Li Xue moved over to one side. “I’ll make some space for you. We are both thin and the bed is big enough. We’ll fit.”

Li Qin Yao was amused. “Aren’t you afraid that I might accidentally touch your wound?”

“Mommy, I know that you will be very careful. Come on. It is a rare chance for us to cuddle. When Daddy is around, he would definitely not give me this chance.”

Seeing the look on her daughter’s face made her heart weak. After a brief hesitation, Li Qin Yao finally took off her shoes and climbed on the bed next to her daughter.

“Mommy, how is that possible? I will always love you the most.”
