Loved By The Villain And The Male Lead

In the next few weeks, Su Ning put 100% of her concentration on her upcoming exams. Aside from going to the library to study, having occasional lunches outside, and going home, Su Ning didn't go out to play with her friends. She took her decision so seriously that she even turned off and left her phone at home for the duration of the exam week. This was her 2nd chance in life and she wanted to create a good and comfortable future for herself. That meant being able to enter a good company after graduation. She knew she was not crazy talented like Gu YuChen or extremely passionate like Allen. All she had was hard work and dedication. 

And even though first year college classes aren't that difficult, finals week is still something stressful for Su Ning. Towards the end of things, she felt that Japanese, English, and Chinese have already become a huge melting pot. So when she finally completed her last final, which coincidentally was her Engineering exam, she was ready for a long bout of relaxation. 'Ah! What should I do this weekend? Should I get a massage? Hmm I also need to make time to call JinYan-ge and YuChen-ge. I haven't spoken to them in a week,' she thought, tapping her chin as she waited for Minshi to finish. Su Ning decided to skip biking to school on her last day and the pair was going to take public transportation to have a nice meal together. In a few days they will be flying over to A City to visit Su Ning's hometown. So they were going to get together to plan out some activities Minshi wanted to do during her vacation. 

There was also another pressing matter Su Ning had to address. Allen's confession. She had set it aside for the past 3 weeks. She should probably give him an answer before she leaves for C Country. Since that night, Su Ning and Allen hadn't gotten many chances to spend time alone together.  They would often study or eat dinner as a group together with Cody, Justin, and Minshi. However, this was something she couldn't put off much longer. Throughout the entire time, Allen had been the perfect gentleman; he never pestered her for an answer and neither did he hover around. Allen basically kept his presence scarce. From what Su Ning could tell, it didn't seem as if Allen had told anyone what had happened either. Cody and Justin treated her as usual. Su Ning almost felt as if she was merely making a big deal of a small matter.

"Karina!" Someone called out from behind her.

Su Ning froze when she heard the familiar voice. Allen. She winced before turning around with a normal expression on her face. "Hey Allen," she greeted.

Allen looked like he'd been running for a while, he was gasping for breath and she could see trickles of sweat forming on his face and neck. Su Ning's brows furrowed. 'What's the hurry?' She wondered.

"I'm glad I caught you," he said after finally catching his breath. 

"Uhh? What's the matter? Why are you in a rush?" She asked.

"Ah! I almost missed you! You're heading out for dinner with Minshi right?" The Irish man asked with a cheerful smile and the girl nodded in response.

"I wanted to give you this before school took a break," Allen said, taking something out from his backpack. He handed a medium sized box to Su Ning which the girl wordlessly accepted.

"It's uhhh… mochi donut. There's different flavors there: taro, green tea, strawberry, and coffee," he explained lightly scratching the tip of his nose.

"Oh. I've never tried this before. Thank you," Su Ning said sincerely.

"Really?! Well, I hope you like it. It's uhmm handmade." He said softly.

"What? By who?" Su Ning asked, sounding startled. 'People are selling homemade mochi donuts?'

"'Mmm myself," Allen responded, startling the girl even more.

"Oh! Oh my goodness," the exclamation abruptly escaped her lips and Allen chuckled.

After a few seconds, he seemed to have realized something and he hastily began an awkward explanation.

"It's not a bribe or anything! I'm not trying to pressure you for an answer. Just.. I really wanted to make this for you," Allen honestly admitted.

"Mm. I believe you," said Su Ning after seeing her friend's raw reaction. She saw Allen sigh in relief.

"Well alright. I guess I'll see you in a few weeks? Have a safe trip!" Allen commented.

"Thanks, Allen," she said, her mouth lifting to an attractive smile. Allen appeared to have been content with seeing her for a few minutes and prepared to make his way back. He turned around and took a few steps and then once again turned back to face Su Ning.

"Oh, by the way Karina," Allen voiced out tentatively.

"Hmm?" (Su Ning)

"You can really take all the time you need. You don't need to feel guilty about it. I want you to be happy with the decision you're making. Don't worry about me," Allen explained. Su Ning didn't say anything but Allen could instinctively tell that the girl was starting to feel uneasy with him. 'Did his confession make her self conscious? Was she feeling guilty for not responding to him after 3 weeks?' A part of Allen was delighted at the thought that his existence is in Su Ning's mind but a bigger part of him didn't want the girl to worry. Allen wanted Su Ning to always be smiling. 

"I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right here waiting," he added with a bashful grin before turning around to leave for good this time.

......

After Su Ning got home that evening, she was emotionally exhausted. Minshi wanted to do so much in the span of 10 days that Su Ning had to keep reiterating the words "That's not humanly possible" to her friend. The girl wanted to see 3 different provinces in C Country, tour around A City, and even maybe spend 2 nights in Taipei. 'Does she think her days are made up of 48 hours instead of 24?' wondered Su Ning. She wriggled around on the couch to find a comfortable position when she hit the hard corner of a white box. 'Allen's present! I should have a taste and thank him for making me some mochi donuts. Ah..I didn't think he would do this much for me. Does everyone treat their crush this way? It seems…. A bit.. Excessive.'

Su Ning uncovered the box and saw 6 pieces of freshly made mochi donut. As expected, she took a bite of the taro one first thinking to herself that she will send her regards to Allen immediately after. After all, she was still quite full from the bbq dinner she had with Minshi; however, all of her self control went out the drain after one bite. 'Goodness, it's so chewy and fluffy at the same time and it's not too sweet! So delicious!' 

Before she knew it, there was only half the donuts left in the box! 'Gad! What am I doing sitting here eating a second dinner?!' Su Ning gasped. 'I can't get bribed with mochi donuts! I'm supposed to just say thank you after having a taste! But this is delicious! Was Allen always this good at cooking? He's really good at coding as well. His drawings are pretty good too,' thought Su Ning. She knew that Allen was a pretty talented person but she never used to pay attention to him much before. However, after the man's confession, Su Ning could not help but be a little bit more cognizant of the man. It wasn't that she liked him as well but more like a natural curiosity towards the man who had professed his feelings for her. She merely wanted to see what type of person he was. That is all. Truly. This was what Su Ning tried to convince herself of while taking a bite of another mochi donut.
