Mage Of The Abyss

Chapter 20 - 12 ~ Current State of the Game

Back when I first boot up the game, it was all sunshine and rainbows. Never have I thought that there was a need to change my flow, it wasn't until the interest of wanting to go to the Capital emerged – and it wasn't mine at first.

Playing games without an actual goal in mind and simply wanting to have fun with it, nothing beats that mindset.

It was perfect for me, but not for the people around me.

Kurira, my first love and the craziest person I've ever met in my entire life. She was the starter of the whole thing. Not only that she's the first person that I've ever friended in the game, but she was also the one who changed me and my view of the world. Aside from introducing me to BDSM and other countless fetishes out there, she was also the sister of my (current) girlfriend, Rakuri.

A very gentle person that oddly resembles my sister, Rosa.

But unlike that bit— ahem, awful person, I wouldn't need to worry about Rakuri betraying me or suddenly changing like her. Because we are always together and widely open to one another.

Those sisters do wear masks all the time and have other faces that I rarely see, but it's what makes them, them.

And me too.

My entire front body has been kissing the sand under this scorching heat coming from the sun for quite a while now.

"Nuh!!"

"I'm… THIRSTY!!!~"

Lifting my body sluggishly, "Ugh, the sun is still high up in the sky but why does it feel like I've been walking for years now."

*Sigh*

"Miss Replica's task for me didn't even show up as a Quest so obviously, there's not going to be a reward for it. What a way to kill my enthusiasm."

"Uwaaa… my Stamina regenerating is like a limp trying to e.j.a.c.u.l.a.t.e…"

"Maybe I should put some points to Vitality next time…"

{Fatigue Relieve Potion / Tier 1 / Upon full consumption, slightly release tiredness and recover 10% of Maximum Health}

"Should I?"

"But what if I will need it later?"

"If possible, I want to save up all the resources I have as much as possible so I can complete this task with flying colors."

Glancing at it.

"Uwuuu… fine!"

*Chug *Chug *Chug

After a widened eye, I do a ballet multiple times as my expression smoothened like a sleeping baby, "Ohohohohoho~"

The effectiveness of the potion, I can feel it right away, and it was so damn good.

"Oooooooooiii, is there anyone here?!!" an echo of a male voice coming from afar.

"Hm?"

Pinpointing at its direction, it seems that it came from my left. hopefully, it's another player. An NPC would be awesome too, but if it's a player, they often carry a lot of things in their sweet inventory. Not that I want to rob him or anything, a trade would be nice in this kind of environment.

I hasted myself to him.

"Heeey!~"

The man flinched as he saw me, "Holy shit, finally!"

Dressed in a vagabond-like fashion, he was quite intimidating at first glance but turns out, he was quite nice.

Since it was my first encounter with another player other than Galliano, I approach him with caution and didn't do any appraisal on him whatsoever. Just wanted to make sure that I'm on his side, something like that.

I traded my junks, used Skillbook and Spellbook alongside one accessory that I can't use, and traded them all for food and potions.

"Thank god, I thought for sure that I was going in a circle. About to give up on this godforsaken place."

His IGN is GalaxBiTokua, told me to call him Galax.

Asking him, "What're you doing in this place anyway? A desert is never a good market to do business."

"Well duh, but seriously, me and my boy Gajah over here got swept by a whirlpool when we walked into a forest. And when I woke up, I got my boy almost turning into a ghost from that damn scorpion and let me tell ya, it was nasty."

"A whirlpool in the forest?"

Nodding, "The Great Forest of Sylph."

"Home of the Fairies," pondering a minute, 'A teleportation barrier maybe. I wish I can get a little bit more info about it, but in case it's related to his Quest, then it's not the best action to ask him about it. We've just met, after all, there's no way he would tell me – a stranger – something so important.'

"Anyway, where you headed? Those clothes you got... doesn't seem like you're looking for an evil church nearby. And let me tell ya, there's none."

"Haha no, I was going to meet up with someone but I got lost in the way. Think you have the general map of Ekolia?"

"Uhuh, what else?"

"Was wondering if you also have a staff I can… finance?"

"Hm, you're a Mage or something? Damn, feel sorry for you to be here of all place. Well, I have a lot of variety over here but I only accept golds, not real money."

"Oh, that's too bad."

"Sorry."

"No, it's all right."

Thanks to the excess in trades of the used books, he gave me the map without me paying extra, and without further ado, I opened it.

Scanning my position with the Appraisal magic that was added to my eye by the generosity of miss Replica. In this vast open world, I'm currently located at the bottom center of the desert on the right side of the map.

'This map is still barebone as it gets. I might even have to ditch it later. Let's see, not many people have explored this area yet, and it's very much different from the densely populated urban area or even the second most popular hunting ground and by far the largest, the Great Forest of Sylph.'

"Man, I was hoping for you to have a Teleportation Scroll at least, but I should've guessed that since you're here in the first place, you wouldn't have one."

"Heheh, sorry about that."

"Nah, wasn't really bothered by it— oh yeah, you're still new, right?"

"Mhm."

"Wanna join our guild? I belong to Kaliaga Phyton, a sub 10k guild and have all members pretty much active during both day and night."

Definitely, never heard of it before.

"I'll think about it."

"Ahh, you must be planning to join the top ones, aren't cha? Let me give you more advice, don't bother. Like seriously, even the ninth rank Black Moon in the local guild is impossible for us mortals to be in. Crazy standards, I tell ya."

"Oh?" come to think of it, I never actually care much about being in a group, "Can you tell me more about them? Guilds, I mean."

"Of course."

Sitting under the shade he built, Galax update me on everything, and thanks to the forums and its search function now unlocked, it expands my horizon even more.

Before talking about each individual top Guild, one has to know about the structures and the leaderboard division between them.

A guild is made up of 6 official roles.

Guildmaster

Vice-Guildmaster

Officer

Veteran

Member

Initiate

A guild can make a custom role out of these but they will have to assign it to have a specific perk belonging to the official role.

The leaderboard is split into three division.

International

National

Local

The International is pretty obvious, since it involves the entire world. The local however only involves and measure the board based on the "Island" they're in, the National goes a step further and listed all the islands involved per "Sector" so that means there is 4 split division for the national leaderboards, the Desolated Sector, the Earth Sector, the Sky Sector, and of course, the Capital.

Sitting on the top 10 of the International Leaderboard.

Jormungandr / 1st / 3.800.520.495 Points

Elven Monastery / 2nd / 3.320.400.580 Points

Kalash Backlash / 3rd / 2.680.999.300 Points

Heavenly God Sword / 4th / 1.800.320.400 Points

Seven Warriors / 5th / 1.789.000.890 Points

Black Gold Practitioner / 6th / 1.500.894.994 Points

Ruling Sky / 7th / 1.500.230.123 Points

Drake Mega Blast / 8th / 1.340.779.900 Points

Holy City / 9th / 987.500.850 Points

B.B.W / 10th / 900.069.420 Points

"Does that mean, the Sub 10k you were talking about is the rank?"

"Mhm, it takes a lot to pull off those numbers in the top 10. Let alone the top 3, and we're just a guild that formed for members that want to help each other in PVE. So, our points are pretty low when looking at this."

These points are obtained from doing the various tasks given by the system. Accomplishing raids, gathering resources, conquering dungeons, etc. In some rare cases, guilds even have territories given by the kingdoms that also raises these points.

All the top 5 have it, and the top 2 own multiple of them.

Switching it to individuals however, this is where everything becomes foggy because the strongest player never listed themselves in the leaderboards.

I know this because it's the first thing my manager told me when I joined the league. Not only that I was recommended to unlisted myself from all the rankings, but I was also constantly being told to lay low.

So, rankers and pro league players are living in a different world entirely. While the former enjoying the glory and fame of having their name bringing so much exposure, the latter have to live in caves before they get their hands on a trophy.

Still, it wouldn't be fair not to make a list of those rankers.

Mona / 1st / Level 367

[PAGN] Everblade / 2nd / Level 330

Hanbin / 3rd / Level 328

0000899238123 / 4rd / Level 310

Tikshun-Oppa / 5th / Level 305

Kun Ta Mere / 6th / Level 301

Xiao Liao / 7th / Level 293

Andre / 8th / Level 292

Krilla / 9th / Level 280

DrakeBlaster13 / 10th / Level 268

Going by these rankings, the average players in the game should be something around Level 80-200, which mean, they're still babies.

Though, I'm sure there are many people like the pro players who hid their ranks in order to conceal themselves to grow in peace.

Who would've thought that in the span of two years since the game has been released, this is how much they've progressed? It's sad when you compare it to the next 4 years where level 4000 people can be seen walking around in the city.

I hope there's someone out there who can be a pioneer and open access to the expansion of the Transcendental Realm of the End Kings.

The sooner, the better.
