"Do you think I care about your Shan Clan? If I want the Shan Clan dead, I have the ability to do so!" If the Shan Clan is arrogant then Calter is even more arrogant! Calter was not completely bluffing. The City Lord owed him a favor, it's not just a normal favor but one that was signed through the God of Order's name!

The City Lord can destroy the Shan Clan if he wants but he didn't do so because of the threats from beasts' tide or Dungeon Breaks. He needs the nobles to defend, but any Nobility Clan can be crushed with his power!

Calter don't even need to use the favor to destroy Nobility Clans. Just the deterrent it has was enough to make the Nobles piss on their pants. If the Shan Patriarch learned that one of his descendants offended someone that can ask the City Lord to destroy any Nobility Clans just how would he react? It must be an interesting sight to see

Hearing Calter's words the people around took a sharp breath. Heavens! What is arrogant? This is arrogant! Shan Clan is a Marquees Clan and only below the City Lord. How dare a young man say those kinds of words to the Shan Clan? This is now not only between Calter and the young master. This is now between Calter and the Shan Clan!

"Presumptuous! How dare you belittle the Shan Clan? Do you have a death wish?! If I Young Master, Shrall don't teach you a lesson today I will change my surname!" Shrall's face was red in anger as he shouted those words filled with rage

"B-Big Brother, l-let's just go" Kence's face paled at hearing his master's words. He can't believe that his master will offend a powerful clan. With Kence's knowledge, he knew that the Sternix Clan doesn't have a chance in defeating the Shan Clan

Calter looked at Kence and his expression softened "Don't worry, did you forget who we are?" His words made Kence realized that they have the backing of the City Lord. The City Lord that is like a God in the City. Even then, Kence was still a bit afraid

Calter turned back his look at Shrall and sneered at him. "Do you have the ability to?"

Do you have the ability to? ... Such arrogant words. The people around thought that Calter have a death wish as he continuously offends the Shan Clan

"Let's see how far your arrogance will last!"

Shrall decided to attack Calter even though the City Lord forbid it. This is a dangerous world. Even if the City Lord is kind, he will choose practicality and just let the Shan Clan pay a bit for their actions as long as no one died. Besides, the young man offends the Shan Clan, this is a matter of dignity and they need to protect it. Too bad, they didn't know that Calter was no nobody

"[Dark Magic: Dark---"] Shrall wasn't even able to activate a spell before five black balls flew on his position. His face greatly changed and become pale from fear. Fortunately for him, this time the coachman/guard was able to react on time as he was always on guard after the earlier attack

A water screen appeared in front of the young master easily blocking him from the five acidic balls. No matter what, a Magic Warrior is still a Magic Warrior. As long as they were able to cast a spell, no matter how skillful Calter is, he cannot do anything

Even though he was saved, Shrall was shocked at Calter's casting speed. It may look like the level 1 Spell Darkness Ball but the power beyond it was far more powerful than that. Shrall himself can activate level 1 spells in under a second but to make five of them in one cast? That is not something he can do!

Shrall was a genius of his Clan with high comprehension talent and he was more knowledgeable than normal magicians at his rank, that's why he was sure that the spell's power was beyond level 1. He's now a Level 5 Magic Apprentice. He's a year or two older than Calter and if he just has this rank, he would be below average as one can attain the peak of Magic Apprentice in under a year

But those who do that are untalented. A level 5 Magician like Shrall was superior than other magicians at and above his level. With him comprehending magic theories before breaking through, becoming a Magic Warrior was almost a sure scenario for him. While for those who only absorb mana to increase their rank, they might not even become a Magic Warrior in their entire life!

"H-how can you--?" Shrall cannot believe what he saw. He has high confidence on himself to crush a mage lower levelled than him but now he was losing that confidence

Calter showed a high casting talent! Comprehension was based on understanding magic knowledge but it doesn't mean that you can easily cast high level spells. One has to have a casting talent to do that!

In the same rank, those who are more skillful in using spells are the one that's sure to win. They are even more highly regarded some time as one can understand magic but might not have enough skill to control a spell

"I don't believe that I can't defeat you!" As a young master from a Marquees Clan, his pride was taller than a mountain. He's one of the Shan Clan's geniuses in the younger generation! He can't suffer such a defeat!

"[Dark Magi--!]" this time Calter's casting speed was even faster, not giving Shrall any time to cast a spell. Just like before, five acidic balls were shot from Calter's wand that flew on Shrall's position

The coachman doesn't have a choice but to block it again. If he wants to, the coachman can easily defeat Calter but he knew if he did so the young master's anger will fall on him. This is a matter of pride that he cannot intervene. He can only protect the young master, if not then the clan would unleash their wrath on him

"Impossible!" Shrall cried out in despair but the next thing he saw stupefied him. Calter used the same spell and five more acidic balls flew on his position. In under a second another group of black balls appeared. Calter was like a machine gun that continuously activating spells while Shrall can't even activate one

"How can this be?"

"How can his spell casting speed be this fast?"

"Monster!"

"What a genius!"

The people around cannot believe what they were seeing. Calter was too talented! They even pity him as he has a bright future ahead of him but he just has to offend the mighty Shan Clan. This action was simple courting death. What a waste of talent! They were sure that this young man would die because of the Shan Clan

"Want to cast spell in front me? Heh! You are still not qualified!" Calter taunted mercilessly. He has a high comprehension talent but the thing he was most talented at was spell casting! He was more adept at controlling the principles of magic rather than just learning it!

"What is happening here?!" A voice shouted and all eyes landed on the group of guards with ferocious face

"The guards are here!"

"The guards would surely take the Shan Clan's side"

"This talented young man would definitely suffer"

The people sighed in regret. A young talent like this was bound to not reach his highest potential. With the talent he showed, he would surely become a powerful mage in the future. But the Shan Clan won't let him. They are already enemies, if they let their enemies grow that is just too idiotic

Shrall looked at the City Guards in a crazed manner "Arrest him! Arrest him! He dares offend the Shan Clan he deserved a fate worse than death!" Shrall said angrily as he loses too much face today

He was too arrogant in front of Calter yet he can't even cast a spell and doesn't have any choice but to be protected by his guard like a weakling

All of them thought that the guards will arrest Calter but who would have thought that the guards will bow in front of Calter. This made all the people stunned

"Young Master Shrall. The matter ends here. The City Lord ordered us to listen on Young Master Calter, please don't make things hard on us. We can only obey to the Young Master Calter" the captain guard said respectfully but there was a hint of warning on his tone

When Otto investigated Calter, he learned about the incident of someone ambushing him and a captain guard offending him. As the City Lord was aware what type of person Calter is he arranged for the guards to know of Calter and Kence's appearance. He also ordered them to put Calter on the top priority among all other Nobles. Even a Marquees Clan won't have as much as importance than him

After all there was still that one favor. Calter can use that favor to anything that he wants and the City Lord can only obey. If Calter was offended by a powerful clan and he used the favor to exterminate that Clan then that would be a huge loss for the entire city

"What?!" Shrall shouted as this was too unbelievable. Calter having a background more powerful than Shan Clan never occurred to Shrall. A Marquees Clan was only below the City Lord, how can other powers compare to it?

"W-wait could it be...!" Shrall was reminded of the Cllan's order to him. He was tasked to go in the Sternix Clan to see their attitude on their Clan. Only the upper-echelons of the Soaring Magic City knew of the complicated relationship between the Shan and Sternix Clan. The Sternix Clan gaining the favor of the City Lord angered the Shan Clan and Shrall was here to see their attitude

Even then, they are not that too afraid of the Sternix Clan as they will never think that the Sternix Clan has the power to ask the City Lord to exterminate their Clan. At most, it would be some suppression. If the Sternix Clan showed friendliness that's good but if they were hostile, the Shan Clan has to make some preparations

"The Patriarch would be angry at me" Shrall thought of the possible consequences he will have. The consequences were not too much as even until now the Shan Clan didn't put Sternix Clan on their eyes but his position among the geniuses in the Clan would suffer a blow. Shan Clan will never bow down to the Sternix Clan but they also don't want the latter to suppress them. But now, the two sides clearly won't have a good relationship

Shrall as the one that's tasked to see the Sternix attitude, learned the secret and the Clan sending him means they were looking down at Sternix Clan. Even if he angered them, he won't suffer too much consequences but his position would be affected. He will have an even lower chance to become the Patriarch

"Let's go!" Shrall gritted his teeth and ordered his guard. There was no point of going in the Sternix Clan as he already offended Calter while Calter offended the whole Shan Clan

But at this time, Calter's dark voice entered the ears of all the people present "Not so fast!"

Shrall glared at Calter "What do you want?"

Calter laughed coldly before smirking evilly at them. This made Shrall to have a bad feeling about this. "Attacking someone inside the city is prohibited yet you attacked me. You need to pay for that, am I right captain?" Calter turned to look at the captain with a warning look

The captain has a complicated expression on his face.. It was fine to offend other Nobles but he didn't want to antagonize the Shan Clan or Calter that was favored by the City Lord. Although he doesn't want to offend the Shan Clan, the captain doesn't have a choice but to side at Calter because of the City Lord's orde
