Marrick's Life Story

Chapter 5:Shattering Heavens Sect

Sun was starting to set and night was coming already, yet the lonesome, tiny figure still cultivating and recuperating, in the stance of the wolf waiting stealthily for its pray, on the small island. Although he was only five, while in this stance, he emitted a dangerous, and chill inducing aura of a predator. Elder Mo got the girls to start a fire and roast something to eat while gazing at Marrick.

Mo Yutian was more and more certain that she has to do anything to get this boy into their sect. Shattering Heavens sect was a local power of the Celestial Tiger Empire. Together with them there are thirty six other local sects. But all of them are weaker then the Shattering Heavens Sect except Great Qin Sect which is tied with them in terms of influence. This resulted in their five hundred years long struggle to overpower one another and take over everything that the other power stored through ages. Of course it didn't mean that they were the strongest force in the empire. Above them there were third rate sects which they had no power to contend against. There were twelve of them and all of them had similar influence and could directly squash the other unrated sects and families.

Beside the third rate powers there are three second rate powers namely Azure Dragon Temple, Vermilion Bird Temple and Black Turtle Temple, and one first rate power reigning over any other power in Celestial Tiger Empire, White Tiger Temple and are also acting as the imperial family, additionally Celestial Tiger Empire is only one of four empires on The Continent. The others are of course Holy Bird Empire, Saint Turtle Empire and Heavenly Dragon Empire. Every empire is housing the Four Temples with one acting as an Imperial Family and having the strongest influence over the others on its territory. Of course all four empires are keeping each other in check so as to keep balance of power. Also in favor of the smaller forces the Temples tended not to interfere with the weaker forces' struggles for power as long as they didn't try to break the balance that they created.

That way the smaller forces had a chance to prosper. In this manner their sect could grow to this point.

While she was deep in thought there was a sudden rumble and the far away silhouette of a boy started to calmly glow in deep green color. In a moment the Qi in the surroundings started to stir and flow towards Marrick. In a dark world with nothing all around except darkness Marrick suddenly felt as if something in his mind broke apart in milion pieces followed by a feeling so comfortable that a soft grunt escaped from his mouth. Slowly he once again opened his eyes, after which he remembered something and started anxiously examining his body in search of the wound.

But he found none. He was extremely confused. Then he thought that it was because of his breakthrough that his bounds healed, but then again if it worked that way then why didn't it heal itself when he experienced his first breakthrough? He had no idea so he decided to leave it at this. He would ask his Mother next time he saw her. Maybe she had some sort of explanation. Also when he saw her he could ask her other questions. He was really curious as to where have he come from. Or if they have any other family or... COUGH.

One have to know that besides being hard to breakthrough the mortal shell, further cultivation is basically not that hard in comparison to further Stages, but even then there are many of those that are forever unable tho go further after Body Strengthening Stage. And even those core and elite disciples that are proclaimed to be the future of te sect and in which innumerable resources were poured used at least a couple of months o step from First Layer to Second Layer of Body Strengthening Stage. And Even though she didn't know how long it took for this boy to achieve that, then even if it was eight months or so then that only means he broke through his mortality even younger than he is now. And if he took less, that was even more terrifying. No matter how you looked at this, both of this conceptions were horrifying. Mo Yutian started seriously considering if the boy wasn't actually some unfathomable beasts cub that could innately change its shape into that of human. She already started formulating a plan of escape in case its parent showed up when his voice suddenly pulled her back to reality.

"Eeem, I am really sorry for all this misunderstanding. But you have to believe me that it was not at all done on purpose. Actually I think that next time when you are going to bath, you should check the area more carefully ladies."

The girls' faces instantly turned all red, but to even theirs surprise there was no anger or hatred, but actually all of them were completely embarrassed. Indeed it was all their fault. They were traveling for three days straight and they desperately yearned for a bath. And when they came across this clearing and saw the crystal clear pond they just couldn't restrain themselves any longer and just dropped their clothes and jumped into the waters of the pond. The feeling of cleaning off the filth of travel was so comfortable that the girls had no mind to even think about anyone being nearby. Now when they think of it, it was indeed incredibly irresponsible, and stupid. What if there was some dangerous animal waiting in hiding nearby. What if a group of bandits just happened to come across them when coming for water. What if the pond was a home of some aquatic predator. But in the end you couldn't really blame them for that. They were teens, and innocent girls that didn't go out of their sect really often and in the end their master Elder Mo did just the same thing as them, right. If even their guardian and the person that is responsible fot hem also forgot about dangers lurking around Magical Forest, then her pupils had even more so right to forget, right? When the girls were getting more and more red as if blood was about to drip from their faces, Elder Mo finally came to help them.

"Ok, ok, what happened already happened. No need to dwell upon it. Come here and eat something boy. You just brokethrough and need some nutrients. We also have to talk a little."

"Don't call me boy, ok? I have a name."

"Then tell it to me."

"Marrick, my name is Marrick, and you?"

"I am Mo Yutian, you can call me Elder Mo."

With their introductions being done, Marrick went off the little island and came closer to the group.

"What do you want to talk about?"

"That can wait a moment, first get something to eat. Here, watch out it is still steaming hot."

Saying this Elder Mo gave him one of the rabbits they caught fot supper. Grabbing it, Marrick started to dig into its flesh ravenously not caring about the heat that was scorching his hands and the oil dripping all over him and smearing on his face. The scene was so comic that the girls around him couldn't hold back their giggles. Realizing his blunder, Marrick stopped eating and tried to hide his face full of embarrassment. After a while the girls stopped laughing and he started eating once again, this time slowly and with restraint. The meal went in complete silence. When everyone was done, they once again went to the water to clean themselves of oil. When they went back, all of them sat in a circle around the bonfire and waited for Elder Mo to start the conversation. After collecting her thoughts Mo Yutian decided to check Marrick's background first. She had to make sure who was he and if it was safe to take hit to the sect. If his background was clean, the she would use all she's got to coerce him to join them.

"Okey then, Marrick. What are you doing here all alone? Have you lost your parents? Why would you go to the Magical Forest? And where are you from?"

"Um, My parents are not here, and I was living really badly in the city so I thought i could go to the outside and live on my own. unfortunately, after a couple days I was attacked and injured by some big wolf and fell into river, and then I saw you, that's all." Although Marrick didn't feel that she would harm him, he stil felt reluctant to tell her about his encounter with his mother. He felt that it was a piece of information that shouldn't be randomly told around.

"Then that means you are an orphan and you walked into the forest by yourself. Then, can you tell me how have you started cultivating?

"Umm, that is some strange story. I mean I don't really know but when I fell into water I saw a strange Old Man, he talked some nonsense. I could not understand anything and then I felt a surge of comfy felling. Do you know what was that?"

When she heard that Elder Mo was once again stupefied. Could it be some kind of inheritance. Then that would mean we caught even greater genius then I thought!

"Oh ho, cough, then do you know what you want to do now? If you wish, you could go with us now. We are people from Shattering Heavens Sect. Do you wish to become my disciple and become stronger?

"Shattering Heavens Sect? What is that, are they strong?"

"Mhm, of course we are. We are really, really strong. There are really few that can outmatch us. What say you then. Are you willing to come with us."

Marrick started hesitating, but then he thought about how his mother have sent him to them, and remembered Elder Mo saying that he could get stronger even faster, and decided that it wasn't necessarily that bad of an idea. So he decided to join them. Additionally, even if he didn't like to be there anymore he could just leave and be on his own once again. It wasn't some kind of big deal, so why not.

"I am willing to join Shattering Heavens Sect!"
