Married To A Savage Duke
Chapter 27.1
“Wait a minute… I’m speechless right now.”
As proved in person, Cherryl slept and ate well.
As she walked in the middle of the meal while eating snacks, she chose to drink tea according to her mood that day.
She was living a healthy life as opposed to the man who said it was alright not to eat and sleep.
Now, Cade was offering to do anything with her.
“Someday, both of us will be sleeping underneath the same blankets. Do you still think it’s too much?” A deep whisper coaxed Cherryl.
It was frustrating to live far away from him.
It was more troublesome to communicate with him through letters and ride a carriage whenever she wanted to see him.
What was Cade doing right now?
She wanted to spend time with him.
If they lived in the same space, those obstacles would simply vanish.
However, sharing a bedroom with a man was a complicated matter.
Cherryl rolled her eyes to the side.
He said he would eat and sleep if she stayed with him, making the offer difficult to refuse.
She didn’t hate it too.
There was no need to complicate this.
Cherryl shook her head.
She should be honest with him.
“It’s not a bad idea, but—— Hmm.”
She continued but suppressed her vague explanation with a short, dry cough.
“It’s a little… It’s like using the same bedroom with you, Your Grace.”
“What do you mean?”
“No. I think it’s a bit weird. I don’t know. You are perfect, but I’m different.”
On the day she left for the North from the Marquis’ house, the Cade she saw that early morning was neat and clear-headed.
Not a single strand was sticking out of his silky, black hair, and his deep baritone sounded just as sweet.
On the other hand, Cherryl’s eyes were closed, her hair was all tangled, and she was stumbling like a drunkard.
“I’m not ready to show you what I look like when I wake up.”
That wasn’t the only problem she had.
What bothered her the most was—-
“When I sleep in my nightgown, the hem of my skirts will rise to my chin which causes the morning breeze to give me chills. I can’t show you that.”
Cade, who was listening out of interest, gradually turned to stone.
Cherryl reached out a hand, thinking she had made a mistake.
“No. I was too honest. Please pretend you didn’t hear it, Your Grace.”
He covered his eyes with his big palm.
The corner of his lips curled upward before he let out a low, pleasant chuckle.
Cherryl blinked, not knowing what to say.
“You tend to misunderstand me, Lady Cherryl.”
“What do you mean?”
“Is it your habit to only think in that way?”
Cade spoke as he stared at her with smiling eyes.
“I don’t mean to share a bedroom with you before our wedding. I only want you to live with me in the main castle and stay in a sunny room on the third floor. I don’t think it’s a bad idea.”
“Ah.”
“I know you’ll like that arrangement since you initially suggested it at the Marquis’ Mansion. Do I seem like a person who only wanted to sleep with you, Lady Cherryl?”
Cade wore an impenetrable mask.
She realized too late that she got defeated for being so fretful.
It turned out he was trying to provoke a reaction on purpose.
Cherryl bit her lip and forced a smile.
“I think you’re the one who tends to misunderstand me, Your Grace.”
The shame evoked from the injustice of this misunderstanding ignited the former.
“If you ask me to move my bedroom ‘here,’ how do I know if ‘here’ refers to the main castle or His Grace’s bedroom? I have no choice but to match it with our current circumstance, but it certainly sounded like the latter.”
She couldn’t believe Cade had brought up one of her dark pasts.
Her excitement had caused her to assume something a noblewoman shouldn’t have.
“At that time, I had no choice but to misunderstand since you were walking briskly towards my room, Your Grace.”
“That makes sense. I apologize.”
“And… Huh?”
Cherryl, who was about to express her dissatisfaction, even more, heard a quick apology from him, forcing her to shut her mouth.
She didn’t expect him to admit his mistake so easily.
“I forgive you. I didn’t mean to say this either.”
Why did it feel like she was sucked into this well-organized labyrinth instead of a smooth conversation?
Cherryl felt like a child for still being angry and fiddled with her earlobes.
“It would have been nice if you just led me to my bedroom from the beginning. I didn’t want to be far away from you, either.”
A heavy silence fell like a pendulum swinging back and forth.
It wasn’t until she noticed that her words sounded like a love confession, placing her in a hot seat.
It was a bit awkward, but she didn’t take it back because it came from the bottom of her heart.
Cade searched Cherryl’s face and slowly reached out to her.
His unusually long, straight fingers carefully held the back of her hand.
“Then, will you mind if you move?”
“Yes. I want to stay in the main castle with you.”
When she nodded, Cade smiled.
Then, he called the waiting butler and gave him orders.
Perhaps, he was sending a letter to Mrs. Bailey about their agreement.
As if it had been planned, Cherryl’s move proceeded quickly.
