Chapter 174: World Security Council. 2011 CE
[Somewhere unknown]
Nick Fury was standing in front of six big screens inside a dark room. He was putting his hands below his back, his eyepatch barely visible, and on those six big screens, were another person.
It was the world security council, and right now, they were barraging fury with questions.
“Are you saying that you refused our request, director?” said a councilwoman.
“Yes.” said Fury casually. “I refused to put Blonsky on the team. He is unstable and out of his mind.”
“So does Banner.” refuted a councilman.
“With Banner, at least he’s trying to help the military.” answered Fury. “While Blonsky is the one who caused the Harlem incident, not Banner. Do you realise how stupid this is, councilmen? You’re trying to make a criminal into a hero that he never is.”
“I agree with the director.” a councilman said… Well, it’s more of councilape, King Grodd was in the World Security council. “It is an idiotic idea, I’d rather help Banner recover his power rather than helping Blonsky. He lusts for power, that is why he got his ‘ability’ in the first place, out of envy.”
“King Grodd, I thought we already discussed this?” a councilman frowned.
“No, you discuss this on your own, you did not even invite me to the meeting.” said King Grodd calmly. “I know your prejudice against me, fellow councilmen, but at least, on the matter of world security, drop it.”
Fury coughed. “As I was saying, I think that we should hold off Blonsky from joining the team, it is simply impossible for him to work with a man like Steve Rogers.”
The council was silent for a minute, before saying. “We will discuss this another time, director. We will go onto the next topic.”
“What next topic?” Grodd frowned. “Today we are only discussing Blonsky, no?”
Fury frowned. “Yes, I thought so too. What is going on here, councilman?”
“We are just confirming things, director, Your Majesty, no need to be hostile about this.” said a councilman calmly. “We wanted to ask you about Mission: Eterni. We have repeatedly asked you for the files of the suspected individuals and restart the mission immediately, yet you stall it everytime.”
“Mission Eterni?” Grodd questioned, a bit pissed. “What is this? Why haven’t I been informed of this?”
“This is not the Simian’s problem, your majesty, I assure you, this is the humans’ problem.” continued a councilman. “Now, would you please answer the question, director?”
“I believe that the mission was shut down a long time ago.” Fury answered. “Why still ask for the files?”
“Just answer the question, director.”
“I believe that I have the right to know about it, councilman.” Fury answered. “I almost lost my life in that mission, why do you need to reinstate the mission?”
“You think dangerous immortals running around the world won’t make us worry about the safety of earth?” the councilwoman questioned.
“As I have stated from the previous mission report, the immortals are harmless.”
“How would you know that director?”
“Because they have been living for seven thousand years in this planet, councilman.” answered Fury in annoyance. “If they want to destroy earth, they would’ve done so a long time ago.”
“Then if you please, give us the file of the immortals. So that we could confirm it ourselves.”
“Councilman of the United Kingdom, I thought you have some files regarding the immortals?”
The other councilmen frowned at the statement. “Is this true?”
“The royals have dealt with the Immortals in the past.” said the UK councilman calmly. “But it’s been lost. The record’s been destroyed by god knows what.”
“See director? This is what I’m talking about.” said the other councilman. “The Immortals are trying to erase themselves from our records, how can we know that they won’t try to rule forcefully? I’ve read enough books to know the consequences of it.”
Fury raised his brow. “Are you really going to compare books to reality, councilman?”
“It was just a statement director, I am making a point.” answered the councilman. “The Immortals are dangerous, we should watch over them carefully to prevent any incidents in the future.”
“You know what? Why don’t we vote right now.” another councilman said. “Those who agreed that SHIELD should hand over the files regarding the immortals, raise their hands.”
Five out of six council members raised their hands, excluding Grodd.
“King Grodd?” the councilman asked, annoyance could be heard in his voice.
“No.” said Grodd, making Fury sighed in relief. “Who knows what you will do with those files, I cannot trust you with it.”
“And you trust Fury?” a councilwoman questioned in hostility.
“At this age, council member, I would rather trust a foreign spy than politicians.” said Grodd, venom laced on his words. “I am done here, we are in a state of distrust council members, and as long as you don’t trust me in this council, I will also not trust you. I agreed to help you all with the security of the world so that our kind may live in peace, but it seems I was too naive… this is a warning to the council, if you continue to act like this, I will pull away all the resources of Zimera in the UN, declare war with me, I do not care, you will not win anyway.”
Grodd’s screen then blackened, leaving the pissed off council members alone with Fury, who sighed at the sight.
“We’re done here, council.” said Fury calmly, and all of the screen blackened, and Fury exited the room, with his eyes tired of the bullshit he had to go through these past couple of years…
