237. A Successful Rescue Operation

Yuxing Tianrui hadn’t eaten anything for a whole day. He sat there alone, ignoring anyone who spoke to him. Ada glanced at Aer, indicating that the latter should say something. Aer shook his head awkwardly. He wasn’t good at dealing with this kind of situation. When he saw Ada knock out Yuxing Tianrui yesterday, Aer had thought that Ada had a way.

Ada scratched his head with a troubled face. He had done that yesterday only because he wanted Yuxing Tianrui to calm down, but last night he had only given Yuxing Tianrui a small dose of the drug for fear that the drug might be so potent that Yuxing Tianrui wouldn’t be able to come around in time when there was an emergency. The dose he had given the crown prince served only to give the latter a good night’s sleep. It was completely useless.

“Sire, you should at least eat something.” Ada steeled himself to proffer the meal to the prince. Yuxing Tianrui sat at the bedside motionlessly as if he hadn’t heard Ada’s words.

Ada was a little anxious. “Your Highness, you haven’t eaten for a full day. You’ll fall ill unless you begin to have meals.” Yuxing Tianrui, however, thought of Du Chuxuan after hearing those words. It had been a full day. If Ashina Yi had been torturing Du Chuxuan, would Du Chuxuan be on the verge of death by now?

The more he thought about it, the more intensive his anxiety became. He abruptly attempted to stand up, but as he hadn’t had anything for a whole day, his level of blood sugar was very low and he saw stars winking in front of his eyes. Ada quickly stepped forward and flung out his arms to stop Yuxing Tianrui from falling. “Sire, you need food to help you regain your strength. If you really want to rescue His Highness, you must eat instead of wasting time.

“You should prepare yourself as well as you can and make a watertight plan. By acting like this, you’re making us even more anxious than you are!”

Yuxing Tianrui gave Ada a dirty look. In Yuxing Tianrui’s eyes, he would have galloped right into the Turkish encampment yesterday if Ada hadn’t stopped him. Yuxing Tianrui took a deep breath. Though knowing that Ada was doing the right thing, Yuxing Tianrui still couldn’t forgive Ada for his actions.

He closed his eyes and walked to the table. He had just picked up the chopsticks when he suddenly had some kind of premonition and jerked his head aside to look out of the door. The group of men arrived at the gate of Sanyuan City, and nobody tried to stop them. It was because another team had reached Sanyuan City before them and made all necessary arrangements.

Distantly, they saw a lot of soldiers celebrating on the gate tower. In their eyes, the military counselor had helped them a lot. This great batch of winter clothes and those foods had extricated them from a dire situation. Therefore, the troops gave them a welcome of great enthusiasm.

Du Chuxuan patted Luo Wu’s hand, indicating that he could walk into the yard by himself. The yard was no different from it had been the day he left. As that thought crossed his mind, Du Chuxuan smiled a self-deprecating smile. He had been away for only a day and a night. It was ridiculous to act as if he had been away for years. Due to his discomfort, Du Chuxuan walked very slowly.

Luo Wu followed in his wake, walking slowly about a pace behind him. On their way back to the city, he had secretly examined Du Chuxuan with his inner power when the latter wasn’t looking. The results had amazed him. It was unmistakable that Du Chuxuan had been poisoned and the poisoner’s identity was only too obvious.

As if they shared some kind of telepathic bonding, Du Chuxuan’s eyes met Yuxing Tianrui’s limpid ones when he lifted his head. Yuxing Tianrui seemed to be unable to believe his eyes, and he was stiff for quite a while. A smile touched Du Chuxuan’s lips. He thought, “He’s as silly as always. Fortunately, he still knows he should eat. Otherwise I’d be terribly worried.”

Ada also stiffened momentarily at the sight of Du Chuxuan who showed up without warning. He jerked his head aside and saw that Aer was snickering on the side. He instantly caught on. His mind had been completely occupied by the crown prince on this day, so he naturally hadn’t been able to spare a thought for anything else. Now it seemed that a lot of things had happened earlier this day.

Yuxing Tianrui sprang to his feet. Not until he subconsciously ran up to Du Chuxuan did he find his head dizzy. Du Chuxuan was limp and Yuxing Tianrui was too groggy to retain control of his own body. The two of them bumped against each other. Du Chuxuan keeled over and Yuxing Tiansui flopped down onto him.

“What’s happening to you?” Yuxing Tianrui gritted his teeth in an effort to clear his mind, but then he noticed that Du Chuxuan was grimacing in agony. “Guards! Bring me Luo Qing!”

“Your Highness, Luo Qing is in the palace dealing with the subsequent events. Right now, Luo Feng is the only one at your disposal.” Luo Feng and Luo Qing used to be fellow apprentices, but Luo Feng was not as talented as Luo Qing, which was why Yuxing Tianrui selected Luo Qing to be his private physician. Still, Luo Feng was one of the best physicians in Sect Luo.

Before long, Luo Feng was summoned to the house. At the sight of Du Chuxuan lying in Yuxing Tianrui’s arms, he came to understand what had happened. Members of Sect Luo, worried that Du Chuxuan and Luo Er might have been tortured in the Turkish encampment, had made preparations some time ago. All the medications Luo Feng had brought with him were for superficial injuries.

The look in Luo Feng’s eyes became cold at the sight of Du Chuxuan’s face. Ada frowned slightly. He knew about Luo Feng’s personality pretty well. Even when treating a disease that common physicians found tricky, Luo Feng always had a smile on his face as if he were capable of curing any illness.

In his words, even if there was a disease that he couldn’t cure, Luo Qing would definitely be able to cure it. He believed that he and Luo Qing could stop the god of death from taking anybody’s life. Ada had seldom seen Luo Feng frown like this.

“I think his Highness is poisoned. To make sure the treatment goes well, I need Your Highness to make some room for me.”

Yuxing Tianrui was nervous, but he did not hesitate. He let go of Du Chuxuan’s hand, stood up and stepped aside. Watching Luo Feng pull a handful of needles from his bag, Yuxing Tianrui felt his heart skip into his mouth.

He didn’t want to stay to see the upcoming scary scenes. He was worried that his heart would ache badly, so he forced himself into walking out of the house. “Tell me, what on earth happened back there?”

“I don’t know any details either. We rescued His Highness from Ashina Yi’s tent. His Highness had lost his power of speech by that time, and he was very feeble. We had to support him on our way back.” Luo Wu told Yuxing Tianrui all he knew. Then he added, “We’ll know the truth if the captain succeeds in rescuing Commander Luo Er.”

Meanwhile, the other group of men were still on their mission to rescue Luo Er. Things had gone well at the beginning, but due to the specialness of the two prisoners’ status, Ashina Yi, though paying little regard for them, had always been guarding against potential rescuers.
