38. Potential Threats

Yuxing Tianrui didn’t speak, but his eyes gave him away.

Du Chuxuan stood by his side silently and reviewed in his mind the people in imperial plan.

Even though he wasn’t in the clan, he knew a little about them. After all, as the imperial merchant, the Du family had more or less business contacts with the imperial clan.

In fact, the most popular one among the folks was the son of Duke Ningyuan. This young man was legendary because when he was born there was auspicious clouds. Therefore, he was said to be an auspicious son of the century by Monk Chanyuan. At the age of three, he could read, and at five, he began to practice martial arts. When he turned seven, he made a poem which at a time boosted the price of paper as people vied to get a copy.

However, the dukedom of Ningyuan was inherited from their ancestors. To this generation, the whole Ningyuan Mansion only appeared to be noble, but anyone with a little knowledge was crystal clear that the family was degrading with nothing presentable.

Duke Ningyuan of this general held a position without real military power, so the son of him only had the superficial fame of a nobility.

“Are you worrying about the son of Duke Ningyuan?” As the question was asked, he felt that Yuxing Tianrui trembled slightly. Then, he knew his guess was right. Across the capital, only this person constituted a threat against Yuxing Tianrui.

The son of Duke Ningyuan was truly an interesting person. He could have sit at home to inherit the dukedom, yet he insisted to take the exams at various levels like every other scholar in the country.

Moreover, when he was fifteen, he passed the highest-level exam and ranked third as a Tanhua. As for that, there had been rumors among the folks that the Emperor was daunted by his talent which might outshine the Crown Prince, so that he ranked merely the third instead of the first.

Certainly, Du Chuxuan had no idea of the truth, but judging from these stories, it was easy to tell that this son of Duke Ningyuan was anything but a pushover. If he was a playboy, he would have stayed at home and waited for the dukedom.

“You seem to care about him very much?” Yuxing Tianrui didn’t like the man and was more annoyed when Du Chuxuan repeatedly mentioned the topic.

Oh dear heaven, the tsundere was angry again!

Du Chuxuan realized it the moment he turned over and quickly put on an ingratiating smile.

“What are you talking about? I’m worried about Your Highness. Only when you live a good life can I be happy, right?” He comforted him while gently pinched Yunxing Tianrui’s palm.

As expected, the pinching instantly made Yuxing Tianrui flush to the ear. But his tongue was unforgiving, “It’s the best you understand that. As long as you behave—pretend to be a virtuous Crown Princess, you’ll naturally have half of what I have.”

Hearing the words, Du Chuxuan was stunned for a moment and even forgot to continue the steps. He wasn’t stupid and deeply understood what Yuxing Tianrui meant.

Yuxing Tianrui’s expression worsened seeing Du Chuxuan stop moving on hearing his words, because in his eyes, the series of his reaction meant unwillingness.

But that made sense. Du Chuxuan was a man after all. Any normal man would be unwilling to tie his life with someone else and lose the self who he had been.

But he didn’t allow it! He didn’t allow Du Chuxuan to run away on him. Since he already married him, he shouldn’t leave for even a moment, never.

Thinking of this, Yuxing Tianrui turned to give Du Chuxuan a fierce look. When Du Chuxuan turned to look at him, he saw Yuxing Tianrui intently staring at him like a wolf pup.

He touched the nose and found no dirt on it. “What are you looking at, Your Highness?” He admitted that he had been surprised in that moment. But there was more joy. Luckily, he wasn’t the only one falling for the other.

“You swear! You will never leave me!” Yuxing Tianrui also temporarily forgot they needed to hurry back to the barracks, standing before Du Chuuxan and waiting for his oath.

Du Chuxuan wryly gazed at this little boy, a wicked idea flashing in his mind, “This is easy, but after all we are both men. Something must be solved, so if I promise you this, shouldn’t you listen to me in bed?”

As he asked, his hand naturally crawled onto Yuxing Tianrui’s chest. To walk faster, Yuxing Tianrui had long taken off the armor and only wore a thin robe. Now, Du Chuxuan’s hand felt like touching his nudity.

Damn it! Du Chuxuan almost cried out. It turned out a man without martial cultivation touched so nice! The soft little flesh seemed to be seducing him.

When Yuxing Tianrui came to be aware of it, Du Chuxuan’s hand had lingered for long. At once, Yuxing Tianrui slapped on it, “I think you have a death wish!”

Clenching his teeth, he shook off Du Chuxuan’s hand and walked forward speedily. Sure enough, men were all bad. He didn’t forgive him yet for deceiving the Emperor, and he already dared to be handsy on him. Unbelievable! Unbearable!

At this time, Yuxing Tianrui didn’t even think of the fact that he didn’t want Du Chuxuan to leave at all. This issue needed to be considered sooner or later. And the thin-skinned Crown Prince totally forgot that he himself was also a man among all the men he was cursing.

Du Chuxuan was slapped but wasn’t annoyed, hurriedly catching up with him. Of course he wasn’t annoyed. Yuxing Tianrui also liked him! That was the only thing mattered.

Undoubtedly, he caught up in a hurry to coax his little wifey. This was how he paved a happy future for himself.

“Don’t worry, Your Highness! You’ll surely be on top.” As long as you wished. Du Chuxuan promised inwardly.

But unexpectedly, Yuxing Tianrui was more annoyed from shyness, “Who needs you to tell me where should I be? It’s none of your business if I want to be on bottom!”

He shouted out loud, but luckily they were in the wilderness with no people around. This was the excuse that Yuxing Tianrui used to comfort himself when he realized what he had said.
