Master Craftsman of the Pokemon World

#26 - Lily Root Doll Observation Record

The workshop gained a new companion, but when Koutai released Petilil again, she seemed bewildered by the work Koutai asked her to do.

She tilted her head and made a sound.

“Peti?”

What is work? Is it just constant fighting?

Petilil didn't understand what this meant, but Koutai offered to provide her with herbs in return for helping the herbs grow.

“It's like you exchange leaves for medicine. You give something and get something in return. What you spend is time. You help me manage the herbs and crops, helping them grow. That's your job.”

“And helping me with work is different from helping others. I'm a tool craftsman. I'm good at making tools with special powers and collecting unique materials. In this process, both you and I will gradually become stronger and better.”

“Peti?”

Petilil still had many questions, but Koutai's offer of herbs as a reward moved her, and seeing her gaze shift, Koutai nodded, “Revival Herbs can certainly be part of the reward.”

“So, we have to help them grow quickly.”

“I worry that the Oddish came here because they're afraid of scattering seeds, which isn't malicious, but it has a negative impact on the growth of herbs. Every Pokémon has different attributes, and even Pokémon of the same attribute have different ecological characteristics, natural characteristics, and effects on the surrounding environment and things.”

Koutai explained to Petilil that he hadn't asked her to leave the herb field because he disliked her.

Doublade also chimed in appropriately, saying that Koutai had told him that in a distant land, there was a powerful Grass-type Pokémon that, unlike all other Grass-type Pokémon, caused forests to wither and the land to decline when it appeared. Therefore, Grass-type Pokémon that come to the field must be carefully screened and judged.

“You!”

Of course, that kind of Pokémon that makes the land barren wouldn't appear here, but every Grass-type Pokémon has different habits and abilities, and the effects on the field are both good and bad.

Petilil was immediately attracted and responded incredulously:

“Peti~!”

There are such Grass-type Pokémon?

If it's Grass-type, why would it destroy forests and soil?

“Right? Pokémon are very magical. You can't understand them all yourselves. And for us humans, how to get along with Pokémon and maintain the balance is even more important.”

Koutai smiled. After thinking, Petilil agreed to Koutai's request.

This wasn't capturing, just helping, just like Koutai asked the Diglett and Dugtrio to help till the land.

So Koutai and Doublade took Petilil for a stroll around the herb field and farmland. Koutai told her about the areas where various herbs were planted and their approximate growth rates, as well as the regular crop and berry areas, various cultivation methods, and available technologies.

Petilil's eyes glazed over.

She's the Grass-type Pokémon, but she doesn't understand any of this!

Human knowledge... is so magical!

“Pokémon live by attributes and instincts. Grass lives in forests, Ground lives in deserts, Rock lives in caves, Water lives by the water. But humans aren't like that. We must master a lot of knowledge and make reasonable use of resources and materials to live better in all regions.”

After taking her through the entire course, Koutai asked to see her moves and wanted to know what kind of Pokémon she faced.

“Knowing the enemy's attributes, characteristics, and moves allows you to fight reasonably and increase your chances of winning.”

Petilil went from being stubborn at first to being a little unconfident, because the human in front of her knew too much, which made her a little overwhelmed, but Doublade's guarantee reassured Petilil.

“Peti~ Peti~ waa waa!”

“You you…”

Petilil described the appearance of the "enemies" in detail, and Doublade continued to translate:

They are some round, wood-like Pokémon, about six in number, one of which is the largest and has fierce eyes.

The small wood balls have a wooden color on the lower half and a red color on the upper half, with somewhat comical eyes.

And the large one has a wooden color on the upper half and a red color on the lower half. The colors are reversed from the small ones.

They came to the Petilil's habitat at the end of spring, and although there weren't many of them, they sprayed seeds with electricity everywhere, and they even explode!

“Voltorb and Electrode? But, in terms of color…” Koutai’s expression became strange!

The colors aren't normal Voltorb and Electrode, but rather Hisuian forms!

Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode are said to have almost the same body composition as fruit, and their attributes are Electric/Grass, with Soundproof/Static/Aftermath abilities.

However, the external personality of Hisuian Voltorb should be friendly. They often gather together and laugh, and they are always very happy, which is the opposite of the normal form's always angry Voltorb.

“Seizing habitat, bodies close to fruit composition, the Hisuian form that disappeared a hundred years ago, few in number… wait, does Petilil’s original habitat have a lot of fruit growing there?”

Fruit also grows in rich land. If the habitats overlap, the current event could indeed occur, but because the Hisuian Voltorb had disappeared in the past, and the number of Petilil in the Sinnoh region is also quite small, almost nonexistent, this habitat battle is actually a very small probability event.

It's a civil war between Grass-type Pokémon for soil and fruit land.

However, if there are really fruit there, Koutai was a little surprised.

This is an important material for making Poké Balls and Sticky Globes.

“I see, the climate of Sinnoh has changed, the Hisuian forms of Pokémon are gradually disappearing, but this forgotten ancient land of Jindou still has a climate similar to Hisui, so Hisuian forms of Pokémon have also been produced, or some Pokémon were brought here by the ancient Sinnoh people and gradually took root.”

“One Hisuian Voltorb evolved into a Hisuian Electrode, and in order to better expand the group, it took a fancy to the fruit area where Petilil originally lived!”

Koutai thought no wonder Petilil came back with injuries every time. It turned out that she was fighting a group of self-destructing bombs.

“In short, through working here, you can become stronger, but before that, let me see what skills you have mastered.”

Koutai said this, and then Doublade began to fight her one-on-one, demonstrating her moves in battle.

The most ⊥ new ⊥ small ⊥ said ⊥ is ⊥ at ⊥ six ⊥ 9 ⊥⊥ book ⊥⊥ bar ⊥⊥ first ⊥ hair!

This also helps her demonstrate more skills.

During the demonstration, Koutai also took out a notebook to record, observing the moves used by Petilil.

First of all, powder moves, Stun Spore and Sleep Powder, followed by Leech Seed, but because of the rain, these powders became sticky as soon as they were sprayed out and didn't touch Doublade at all.

Koutai saw Protect. A light green barrier appeared in front of Petilil, blocking one of Doublade's casual attacks!

But she was a little overwhelmed by the next round of attacks. During this time, she used Magical Leaf and Giga Drain, and until she was knocked back by Doublade, she used a very strange move.

There was nothing in front of her, but it was as if a round of air punches was thrown out, and there was a faint, inconspicuous energy that directly attacked Doublade... but it didn't work!

Ghost-type Pokémon are immune to this skill!

“Vacuum Wave?! Fighting-type can't attack Ghost-type, no, Petilil can't learn this move.”

“A move without special effects, is it Normal-type? Could it be ‘Facade’?!”

This guess is more reasonable. Petilil can indeed learn Facade, plus she has come to her residence "enduring" these two times, so it is normal for her to know this move.

Normal-type moves also cannot attack Ghost-type. Of course, physical impact exists. After all, Doublade is a Ghost-type with a physical body.

But the damage of this ordinary impact is equivalent to Tackle, or even possibly worse. So Doublade just paused for a moment, and then immediately launched an offensive again.

Was this move learned in the battle to regain the habitat?

Then the next one will be...

“You!”

Doublade used a Psycho Cut, but Petilil didn't fall down. Instead, a special effect similar to gathering energy appeared on her body, and it appeared before the Psycho Cut attack.

“Sure enough, it's ‘Endure’.”

Endure, Protect, Facade.

Suddenly, I feel that this Petilil is too hardworking.

Protect blocks one, Endure blocks one, and there are two self-destructing bombs left.

Afterwards, Petilil used Synthesis, but because it was raining, the amount of recovery was very small, and she was quickly defeated by Doublade.
