Mastering Lightning from Hogwarts

#113 - Secret of Pure Blood

"Hmph, they'd have to catch me first, and besides, I'm the victim here. Alright, go back, contact me if anything happens," Anduin said dismissively.

Rozier had no choice but to nod, turning and leaving Anduin's room.

"Looks like my guess was right. Recently, those guys haven't dared to fight directly in the school. Professor Bones has indeed been monitoring the entire academy. But in the afternoon, Professor Bones clearly didn't know about my actions in the bathroom. It seems the professor is mainly focused on the older students?" Anduin pondered all this, feeling basically confident.

"Looks like I need to hurry. They definitely won't let this go. In the next half year, I need to start that plan," Anduin thought resolutely.

Not many days later, Hogwarts' Christmas holidays began. Anduin decided that he would no longer leave the campus during this year's holidays, dedicating all his energy to arming himself, and improving his combat power as much as possible.

After the Christmas holidays began, Anduin moved back to the Forbidden Forest cabin. Through numerous letters with Augusta, he learned about the current state of the Longbottoms. Due to the insane torture of the 'Cruciatus Curse' by the Death Eaters, Frank and Alice had suffered almost irreversible injuries, their memories almost completely lost, and they could only live in St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries under constant care.

From the lines of Augusta's reply, Anduin could truly feel how much pain she was in, but she forced herself to be strong, because little Neville needed her.

"You do the first day of the lunar month, don't blame me for doing the fifteenth!" A dangerous glint flashed in Anduin's eyes.

Hagrid was very happy that Anduin could return to the cabin to accompany him during the Christmas holidays, but other than eating, he spent almost all his time in his small room, and there were often sounds of clanging and banging.

Because it was Christmas, Anduin also took the initiative to ask Hagrid for a Chimera skin as a gift.

The Chimera is a magical creature native to Greece, very bloodthirsty and violent. It has the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a fire dragon. Hagrid used to use it as a pillowcase, and the leather is very tough.

One day at dinner, Hagrid saw Anduin reading a book introducing pure-blood families with great interest, and couldn't help but ask curiously, "What's wrong, Anduin, why are you reading this kind of book?"

"After all, know yourself and your enemy, and you will never be defeated," Anduin replied nonchalantly.

"Never be defeated? What do you mean? Why do I have a dangerous feeling?" Hagrid frowned.

"It's nothing," Anduin didn't say much, shaking his head, "Did you know? As pure-blood families, they have actually been opposed to the International Statute of Secrecy since it came into effect. They have gathered followers more than once, trying to launch a full-scale war with Muggles."

"Really? That's terrible," Hagrid said.

"But after many years, many pure-blood wizards have begun to voluntarily maintain the Statute of Secrecy. This is why many pure-blood families have not sided with the Death Eaters," Anduin had recently borrowed many books, periodicals, and gossip publications related to wizarding families from the library.

"Oh? Why is that?" Hagrid asked curiously.

"On the one hand, it's for profit. Many pure-blood families maintain the Statute of Secrecy while marrying Muggles, and also annex a large number of assets and land through transactions with Muggles. Many pure-blood families themselves have a place in the upper class of the Muggle world. Naturally, they will not allow those Muggle-hating Death Eaters to destroy this situation," Anduin teased.

"What about the other hand?"

"The other hand," Anduin blinked, looking at Hagrid, "Guess who would win if the wizarding world and the Muggle world went to war?"

"How would I know? But wizards have magic, so wizards should have the upper hand," Hagrid thought for a while, and said truthfully.

Anduin shook his head, "No, if the two sides really went to war, I guarantee that the wizarding world would not be able to withstand the Muggle offensive at all. You are not a Muggle, so you don't know, the power of Muggle weapons is beyond the imagination of wizards. Wizards would be lucky to escape the Muggle search and attack. Many pure-blood families have a clear understanding of this because of their long-term contact with Muggles. They are not willing to lose their lives because of this stupid suicidal behavior."

"What? Are Muggles that scary? But I've seen a lot of Muggles, they don't even have magic, they can't make something disappear out of thin air, and they can't turn a mouse into a teacup," Hagrid was taken aback by Anduin's remarks.

"You're right, wizards have an advantage in this kind of supernatural power, but in terms of destructive power alone, the two sides are not on the same level at all. Have you ever seen magic that can destroy a small island with a flick of a finger?" Anduin asked with a smile.

"Gee, are you kidding me? How could there be such magic?" Hagrid looked incredulous.

"But Muggles do, so maintaining and protecting the 'Statute of Secrecy' is the most responsible way for the wizarding world, but..." Anduin pondered.

"But what?"

"But if wizards are always ignorant of the Muggle world, and their understanding of Muggles remains at the level of hundreds of years ago, it is easy to develop a sense of superiority that is almost ignorant, like the Death Eaters, and that is the most dangerous thing," Anduin shrugged.

"You mean that kind of unique cognition will give rise to organizations like the Death Eaters? Good heavens, that's terrible. Doesn't that mean that even if the Death Eaters are destroyed, in a few decades, another group of people like the Death Eaters will appear?" Hagrid asked with wide eyes.

Anduin nodded and said, "It seems you have also realized it. In fact, this situation has happened before. Grindelwald, who almost swept the international wizarding world, was like this. Even now, there are still organizations like the 'Purifiers' in the American magical world, and the 'Native Soil Society' in Northern Europe is also very active. Because many of their members have never been exposed to the Muggle world, it is easy to develop an inexplicable sense of superiority over Muggles who do not have magic, and then be bewitched, used, or coerced by people with ulterior motives, and then gradually turn to depravity."

"Good heavens!" Anduin's words almost subverted Hagrid's understanding of the world. So the magical world in other countries is so terrible? It's like someone telling him that in this seemingly peaceful and stable world, there are actually terrorists everywhere.
