Meridian's Devil
Chapter 4 - THE ESCAPE PLAN
"Hua, stop misbehaving, and please do tell..." she swirls, a perfect twirl, her gown moves in an exquisite whirl, inches away from the ground, and when she stops, it falls and comes in contact with the destined floor-carpet.
"How do I look, Hua?" Yue bites on her bottom lip and coerces a smile, her eyes squint as she pretensed to appear gleeful.
"It's perfect, Mei..." Yue quickwittedly indulged the skeptical name into her appreciative comment and the complimented girl giggled, clasping her hand, ratifying Yue's theory to be correct
If she was Li Mei and the girl was addressing Yue by the name, Li Hua, then all this entirely leads to a single conclusion.
"Your gown is in the living area, I'll ask the servants to go fetch it and help you array yourself" The heavily attired girl bows, imitating a greeting and disperse, revering curtsy bow before Yue, and Yue involuntarily giggles at her.
Mei disappeared down the hall, soon after.
"I have transmigrated to MY PRINCE IS A VAMPIRE!???" Yue exclaims as soon as she's left by herself in the majestic grandeur of the room.
Her heart hammered against her chest, her head was throbbing, her throat had gone dry. She gulpped and shook her head out of her thoughts.
On top of it, what was more agitating was that Yue was not even the main lead.
'I am a freaking side character?' She cursed at her misery in her mind.
"Just why?" she slides down to the floor, tears accumulate in her eyes. She crossed her knees, her face covered by her own hands as uncontrollable tears rolled down her pale skin.
'I shouldn't have had kicked the laptop, keeping aside it's worn-out conditions. The tragic part of it is that, Li Hua, which is supposedly being played by me now, is fated to die, just a meagre, scanty contiguous pages ahead.'
Li Mei and Li Hua, the two bewitching, gorgeous daughters of the Li house, one of the competing power houses amongst the influential nobilities for the hand of the Prince, will soon be on their way to the beguiling Palace, for the Royal ball, tonight. Both to be accoutred in hefty, coruscating ball dresses.
Ball dress is simply defined as a gown worn to a ball or formal dance. Beyond this fundamental description, there are remarkably intricate conventions related to appropriateness of ball dress.
The most extravagant within the category of evening dress, a ball gown functions to dazzle the viewer and augment a woman's femininity. Ball gowns typically incorporate a low décolletage, a constricted bodice, bared arms, and long bouffant skirts.
Ball gowns are visually distinguishable from other evening gowns by their lavishly designed surfaces-with layers of swags and puffs and such trim details as artificial flowers, ribbons, rosettes, and lace.
The attires of the two of them requires, a personal carriage for each, for the clothes leeway.
And departing for the Palace, the carriages travel at a negligible distance.
Mei on arriving at her destined location, steps down to realize her sister's carriage hasn't been following.
She presumes it took a halt, for unspecified purpose somewhere, and shrugs off a apprehensive feeling.
But is soon informed of the tragedy befallen upon Hua, her carriage had gone down the hill due to a lose stone on the edge of the road, and the frenzied horses.
Mei is in a state of sorrow due to the sudden death of her beloved sister.
Mei's despondency, causes, the charming vampire prince to notice her, at the contention for being chosen by him, initially for a dance, but later for much more.
That is at the Cordial ball that will be held in chapter, after the death of the character 'Li Hua' which is supposedly now being played by Jiang Yue.
They say sadness is behind anger, yet anger never comes unless in direct self defence, and so perhaps Yue could credit this natural passivity with her willingness to cry and feel pain, to let the sorrow teach her more about her true nature and how fragile we humans are.
But now, she shakes her head out of the grips of her comforting hands, wipes her rashed cheeks, with the back of her hand instead. A resolute expression replacing the dejected one, "I will find a way to survive."
Concomitantly, the servants knock on the door, and taking the nod of Yue's head as a granted permission to enter. They carefully place the exquisite shimmering crimson outfit on her mattress. Yue's face displays evident emotions of being flustered as never had she once in her life been dressed by someone else. She wasn't a princess in this novel, yet since she was a member of a high-powered nobel house she had a mansion to herself and lines of servants to serve her. The petite maids were quintessential in her accoutrements and it though it did take quite some time for her to be attired, it was a fascinating experience for her.
Upon accomplishing their objectives
the maids bow as they take their leave, and Yue's lips curve into a gratified smile.
Her hands trace the fabric of the aforesaid dress, "Gorgeous—and giant!" Hua's dress boasts countless layers of tulle on the petticoat and no less than four miles of thread.
"It's a clever construction," The whole thing is built over a crinoline cage, which is very lightweight and beautifully made, so that doesn't actually have that much weight to it at all.
All the layers of fabric are light, too, but built on top of each other, which creates the volume, "But it will be a hindrance if I ought to escape death."
Yue bit on her bottom lip as she reflected and envisaged upon a plan to elude death, which would be, evidently, by stepping out of the carriage, at the accurate time.
Now the question was, how was she to step down from a moving vehicle?
