Miss Ordinary: I Was Reborn To Love You!

Chapter 63 - Mismatch memories

"Sit here," Eric Wu pulled a chair for Bella Lim to sit. Then, he walked towards the cabinet and took out a pot before placing it on top of a stove. Next, he went to the fridge.

"You're cooking?" Bella Lim was surprised. Eric Wu simply nodded as he stood in front of the fridge, staring at the raw materials inside. A cold sweat broke out on Bella Lim's face. This man had gone through a lot just to deal with her and now he wanted to cook for her? She didn't want to trouble him any more than she already had.

"Don't we have leftover from dinner?" she hinted while at the same time wondering why he still standing in front of the fridge. She felt cold just from looking at him.

Eric Wu looked around. "You okay with the leftover?" he asked as he closed the fridge with a kick. When he saw Bella Lim's positive response, he smiled. "I'll reheat them,"

While reheating the food from dinner, Eric Wu silently exhaled as he beat himself inside his head. He had been too impulsive. He had acted out of his character as well as his capabilities. Cooking? he scoffed. Did he know how to cook? Well, he did know how to make congee, but the last time he recalled making it, he had spent the whole night in the kitchen.

Was he trying to look cool in front of her? Sigh.

Meanwhile, Bella Lim was also relieved. Relieved that she had succeeded in making the man gave up the idea of cooking for her. Seriously, if it was any other day, she would cherish the moment, but today wasn't that day. Today, many things had happened and she didn't wish for her mind to deal with more stuff.

Well, if only she knew that she had helped the man covered for his impulsiveness... if only she knew that he couldn't cook...

It took Eric Wu for almost an hour just to reheat all the food. He had tried his best not to look like an amateur while doing so. Soon, the food was served in front of Bella Lim, who then ate in a silent manner, trying hard not to lift her head to avoid meeting the eyes of the man who was watching her with his hawk eyes.

"I'm full," she hurriedly spoke when she realized that Eric Wu was ready to give her another serving. Questions kept flowing inside her head. Mostly bewildered with the kindness he had been showing. Well, it could be said that their relationship had improved these past few days, but tonight he had shown a totally different personality. A gentleman.

"Really?" she heard him asked.

"Ye...s!" she answered in shock. Surprised to feel a hand touching her forehead.

"Do you feel better?" he looked at her with concern as he returned to his seat. Unable to conjecture a speech, Bella Lim shook her head in response, indicating that she was feeling better.

"Good. Now tell me the whole story," his voice domineering.

Bella Lim was startled. She looked at his face, trying to find the gentleness he had shown earlier. However, she couldn't stare for long as she was defeated with the subduing method he often used. She stiffened, understood the reason behind the sudden change in his behavior.

"I-I just had a bad dream. That's all," she mustered the courage to speak, trying to give the impression that everything that had happened to her wasn't worthy of his attention.

"You're not going to tell? Then, I will ask you a question. How did you know that I saved a young girl in Kastache?"

Bella Lim gulped. It was difficult to breathe when he was like this, what more to explain the whole thing. At least, he should retract a bit of his imperious aura.

Suddenly, the scene where he was reheating the food played in Bella Lim's head. She almost believed that it was just a dream because that was truly mismatched with the man who was sitting across her.

Wait, why was she scared? Besides, it was never her intention to hide the story from him. He was her savior after all. This was a good chance to thank him.

"Can't you guess?" she said while her hands reached for the jug at the center of the table. She poured herself a glass of drink. At this moment, she was already free from the cage set up by Eric Wu.

The man frowned upon listening to her response. Suddenly he smirked as he leaned against the chair.

"You're a stalker," he said only to see the woman sitting in front of him spouted all the water inside her mouth. Her eyes were looking at him in bewilderment.

"Cough. What nonsense are you talking about?" Bella Lim tried to smile, but she knew it was better not to. Eric Wu had nailed it. He pointed out the hard truth although it wasn't really the correct answer to his question.

Eric Wu rose the corner of his lips. "You know a lot about me that wasn't known to the public. That makes you a stalker," he muttered. He noticed that she was staring at him in perplexity.

There was only silence afterward. Eric Wu waited patiently for Bella Lim to speak. She finally spoke after a few minutes.

"I know about the incident. Isn't that an obvious answer?" she said with eyes transfixed on his.

"Huh?" he frowned. Eyes met hers, trying to follow her runway thought train. His expressions a mixture of annoyance and confusion.

Bella Lim knew her unwillingness to speak candidly had annoyed him. "You said not many people know. I know because I'm among the few people who knew," she gave another ambiguous response. That was when she saw him rose from his chair. His expressionless face cracked as he thought about her answer.

"Are you saying..." he mumbled as he leaned forward, hands were holding the edge of the table to support his body. The corner of his eyes twitched. A look of surprise on his face.

"You're her!" he uttered in disbelieve. When he saw a nod of approval, he let out a shaky laugh. What a small world! He continued to laugh as if what he just heard was a joke. Bella Lim faintly smiled as she watched him settled on the chair.

"No wonder you know who Enlai Gong is," he sneered.

"Yes," she responded.

"So you're from Kastache?"

"Yes,"

Eric Wu combed his disheveled hair. He took a deep breath and exhaled. He chuckled when she thanked him.

"If it wasn't because of you, little pumpkin and I wouldn't be able to live to this day," she spoke in a low voice. Hearing this, a crease was formed on Eric Wu's forehead.

"Whatever you mean?" he asked, wondering why Bella Lim suddenly mentioned little pumpkin.

"You paid for his bill, remember? He was also involved in the accident," she said as she stared at the chandelier above her. A way to avoid the tears that began to accumulate at the corner of her eyes to fall.

"After the discharge, a friend of mine brought us here," she smiled as her face was reminiscing of the past. Yet, Eric Wu's furrow deepened.

'Bella, the young girl I rescued had no little brother,' he wanted to tell her, but thinking that she wasn't ready and he wasn't prepared to see another breakdown, he kept the thought inside his mind.

He listened as she talked about the old memories. About how much she appreciated his help. However, the more he listened, the more he thought that his memories were a mismatch to what she was telling him.

He was confident with his memory. Everything that had happened that night and the days that followed was spent in his cottage in Kastache. As for those people who knew about the entire story, there were only four; him, Ekon, Zayn Wu and her.

There was no little pumpkin. No talked about the accident of her parents. The whole month she was with him, there was only one thing they had ever talked about and that was the book he was writing. As a result, most of the story was inspired by the details she suggested every time they discussed the book.

That was when he knew that he had saved someone who possessed a powerful background. Only that, he was too lazy to investigate who she was. Then, one day she suddenly disappeared leaving no trace for him to track her down. A contrast to what Bella Lim had recounted, about how it was him who left her.

No, his first book was proof that his memory was the correct one.

So, why was she talking about a different story now?

He believed that Bella Lim could be the one he had met as it was impossible for another woman that came from Kastache to know that he was Enlai Gong.

Eric Wu felt exhausted just from thinking.

"Well, could we proceed this tomorrow. I'm too sleepy," he yawned as he blinked his eyes several times. He really needed a reset, so tomorrow he could put all the pieces together.

"Sure. I forgot that it was way beyond your sleeping time," he flinched when he heard Bella Lim's reply. It seemed that since her secrets were now known to him, she had become bolder.

Eric Wu helped Bella Lim as they went to the second floor. "Make sure to rest up, Zayn will come to check on your ankle again tomorrow," he reminded when they finally reached Bella Lim's room.

"Sure," she nodded. Then, she stared at Eric Wu's broad back as he walked towards his room. She entered her own room and saw little pumpkin was sleeping soundly. Seeing him, her face darkened, she recalled the flashed of memories that she thought was a hallucination. She recalled how she stumped at the simple questions Eric Wu had asked her about their childhood.

Something wasn't right with her. Every time she tried to recall a specific memory, her mind became scrambled and fuzzy. There was a hole in the memories she possessed.
