MMORPG: The Almighty Ring

Chapter 688. Only Level 5 Can Defeat Me!

“Your Highness, I still do not understand the reason you have summoned me,” said Jiang Fei.

“I’m about to get there. Tell me, are the Merfolks ready to assist us?” said the King.

“Soon, Your Highness. The Merfolks had invaded the borders of the Holy City. I can only assume it would take another one or two days,” said Jiang Fei.

“Granted. From here on out, there’s no need for you to help the Merfolk anymore. I need you in the Demon Flame Fortress. I have Ivan ready with his army,” said King Augustus.

“Isn’t it too soon for war?” said Jiang Fei.

“Not yet. Go there, Ivan might need your help,” said Augustus.

Ding! Nephilim King Augustus has a Story Quest for you: Horns of War! Will you accept it?

Jiang Fei knew immediately that he would not be able to deny the quest since it was a Story Quest. Then again, since where did Jiang Fei ever denied a quest? Following through a Story Quest would reward Jiang Fei with luxurious items. On the other hand, failing the quest, or refusing it would result in dire consequences.

“Very well,” said Jiang Fei.

Ding! Quest Updated!

Quest Name: Horns of War

Quest Objective: King Augustus wants you to report to Marshal Ivan.

Quest Reward: 100,000 Experience Points, 2 Gold Coins

The first quest of the linear quest line was just a meet and greet. What would come after the first few quests should be tougher and better.

After accepting the quest, Jiang Fei remained with the Nephilim King to talk about the war and his future decisions. It was nothing much but an attempt to build a better relationship between the King and him. It was always better to have someone on the high table to pull strings. Unbeknownst to Jiang Fei, the real reason why Augustus had called for Jiang Fei at such a short notice was the fear of Poseidon reeling him over to the Merfolk side.

Jiang Fei left the royal chambers but before he could leave, the Elder Prince, Otis came over to talk with Akatziris. His real motive was similar to Augustus. He wanted to befriend Jiang Fei. At this point, Jiang Fei had noticed that since the day Ou Yezi declared Jiang Fei as his one true successor, more NPCs from the Nephilim race had paid attention to him.

After Otis was done talking with Jiang Fei and Akatziris, Jiang Fei made his way back to the Demon Flame Fortress. Right then, he realized that he had just wasted the rest of the day in the Nephilim King’s Palace.

After Jiang Fei was out of the game, he realized that Ariel was on top of him, resting her head on his chest. At first, Jiang Fei wanted to remain still to allow Ariel to sleep a little more but incidentally, he noticed Arie’s nose and eyelids moving. Even her hands and feet were fidgeting as if she was happy—much like a happy little puppy. Jiang Fei realized that Ariel was not asleep, she was just pretending to be in order to spend more time making intimate physical contact with him!

A naughty thought came to his mind and he lifted the girl up and smacked her bum!

Piak!

“Owieee! Darling! You meanie! Is that your way of waking up a lady?” cried Ariel as she giggled and buried her head into Jiang Fei’s chest.

“Heh. Next time, if you want to cuddle, just tell me directly,” said Jiang Fei.

“Now, let’s go home.”

“Where is that?” said Ariel.

“China,” said Jiang Fei as he helped Ariel back to her feet.

After sleeping for the entire night, Jiang Fei woke up fresh and revitalized.

“0541, what is my current power level?”

“Captain. Your power level is currently at the Pinnacle stage of Level 4. Once you have mastered your energy control and are fully capable of applying it in combat, you would be able to break past Level 5. However, it is estimated that you would have a 99.99% chance of losing and a 98% chance of dying in a fight with a Level 5 Metahuman. On the bright side, you would have a 100% chance of winning a fight with anyone below the power Level of 5.”

“Haha. You don’t have to say it like that. Wait… Did you say I can defeat anyone that is not a Level 5 Metahuman?” said Jiang Fei with both eyes opened wide.

“That is correct,” said 0541.

“That’s awesome!” Jiang Fei jumped with happiness.

It had been 6 months since he picked up the silver ring and stepped into the realm of Metahumans. He was able to morph himself from a regular human being into a powerful fighter! No one on Earth, not even in the Metahuman society had heard of such a speedy growth.

“So, when can I get the next potion?” said Jiang Fei. Although he had not mastered the new power in him, he was already planning for the next stage of progress.

“Captain, try learning to crawl before attempting to fly. Level 5 is not something that anyone could just have. Even though we have that sleeping pig in the volcano, we need more than just Level 5 flesh to make potions,” said 0541.

“What else do we need — Wait, I already know the answer.”

“Power!” said 0541 even though Jiang Fei had said he knew the answer.

“Sheesh… It’s always that.”

Until the day he could find the Main Engine room of Braveheart, he would never get bored of hearing the word “power” from 0541. He knew that finding the Main Engine room would take more than just luck now. Even though there were still places left untouched, only God knew whether he would be able to find it.

Jiang Fei removed the igloo that he had made and destroyed it with a simple punch to the side. He then took out the Giant Sword. Before he could start flying, Ariel hopped on and hugged Jiang Fei from behind. The girl could fly on her own but since the chance of hugging Jiang Fei was just laying right there, Ariel took it and regretted nothing.

Around 8 hours later, Jiang Fei entered China’s water. He landed close to an unknown unpopulated beach and had 0541 prepare the Interceptors in boxes fashioned in Planet Namek style. After all the boxes were prepared and ready, Jiang Fei called Han Tianyu.

“Where on Earth have you been? I’ve been trying to contact you for so many days!” cried Han Tianyu as soon as the call connected.

“Calm down. I’m at my master’s training place. What happened?” said Jiang Fei fearfully. The thought of the Mutants initiating a war crossed his mind.

“Oh. Nothing much really. Nothing really important. Oh, by the way, a group of Vampires from Europe have appeared in China asking for refuge from the alliance. They mentioned your name. That’s the reason why I had been trying to reach you. Well, since you’re unreachable, I had them placed in a temporary hidden shelter with high security. No one goes in or out. That kind of place, if you know what I mean,” said Han Tianyu.

“Crap! I forgot about them!” cried Jiang Fei.

Vampires had appeared out of nowhere and without notice, claiming that Jiang Fei had asked them to go to the alliance. Since Jiang Fei could not be reached, the alliance had naturally placed all of them into prison cells prepared especially for them.

From the Vampire’s point of view, they had unknowingly become prisoners of the alliance. However, to show their sincerity, they cooperated willingly. No one fought back even though they were treated harshly. Not a single Vampire had tried to escape!

This was the result of being in conflict with the Mutants. The alliance had feared that the Vampires were merely a method of infiltration. While being treated as prisoners was tough, the Vampires did not think of it that way. Being isolated in a remote place, fed and protected by guards that patrolled 24 hours, to them, it was the best place to be since they were hunted by the Lycans! They would not even want to leave the prison even if they were asked to do so!
