“Sorry, say that again?” Lulurun asked.
She was doubting her ears, but if she wasn’t wrong, the Witch definitely said, “I want marriage.”
“I want marriage to a nice man,” the Witch of the North said.
“Oh, hold up a minute,” Lulurun said.
“I want,” the half-naked Witch said with a straight face, “to get married!”
“Wait a minute,” Lulurun said, still standing before the Witch of the North. “So, umm, what do you mean by that?”
“Exactly what I said,” the Witch of the North said, emphasizing it with her teary eyes and puffed up cheeks.
Her pitiful face is far from the impression of the Witches this whole world fears, and Lulurun is getting more and more out-of-balance.
“How do you think I’m going to be able to get married, alone in a remote area like this?” the Witch of the North said.
“Well, yeah, you’ve got a point there… huh? Is this a joke? Or rather, a magical trap?” Lulurun said.
She checked for traps but could find no such magical signature.
“This is a joke… right?” Lulurun asked.
Lulurun couldn’t doubt the Witch of the North’s words for her tense expression, this did not seem like a joke.
“You’re serious?” Lulurun asked.
“I’m serious…” the Witch of the North mumbled.
Lululun takes a deep breath to calm her mind.
“Honestly… was that it?” Lulurun asked.
“I’m honest, I’m sorry this is the Witch you see, I’m just not like a witch, not like one at all,” the Witch of the North said.
“No, I think Witches could be all manner of things,” Lulurun said.
She couldn’t decide whether to interrogate the Witch of the North in detail or what she should do in general.
“Just because I’m a Witch who can use magic, people are scared of me, they avoid me, and I honestly I’m so sick of it…” the Witch of the North said.
“Well, I can understand where you’re coming from,” Lulurun said.
But before she loses the track, Lulurun gives a follow-up:
“But, you were doing something that could justify their behavior… right?”
“Hmm, I used to go in the city once in a while, find a good-looking guy, and use Encantal on them, but even if they told me they loved me, it felt empty and I haven’t been doing it at all lately…” the Witch of the North said. “Every day, I’ve just been a shut-in inside my barrier, you see! I’m not bothering anyone at all!”
“… You were using Encantal, so that was trouble enough,” Lulurun said.
“Is that so…?” the Witch of the North said.
“And just recently, you tried to use Encantal in the city, right?” Lulurun asked.
Ding-ding, Lulurun heard the sound in her head.
“I, I don’t think so, but I’m sure that was some other spell?” the Witch of the North said awkwardly.
“Haa…” Lulurun sighed.
As the Witch of the North tries to deflect suspicion, the culprit for the city’s recent crisis is undoubtedly her. If her motivation really was trying to find a husband, then this Witch’s evilness level is starting to go down.
“Well, I don’t think it’s good to manipulate people’s minds… you know?” Lulurun said.
“I’m sorry…” the Witch of the North said, her shoulders slumping.
And the moment Luluru tried to comfort her, to sympathize with her harmlessness, it was as a lightbulb went off in the Witch of the North’s head! And she looked at Lulurun and said:
“Then introduce me to a good man!!!”
“Huh?” Lulurun said.
With the serious, pleading eyes of the Witch of the North, Lulurun could no longer feel her dignity as a Witch.
“Isn’t it terrible to be treated as a Witch just because you happen to be able to use magic since you were born and live with a single familiar in such a remote area?”
“Then, why not live normally without using magic?” Lulurun asked.
“I don’t want to! I use magic because it’s convenient, and I’m not convinced why I should have to adapt to people who can’t use it!”
How incredibly selfish, haaah… Lulurun clutches her head and tries to think of the best solution to this.
“I don’t know if I can introduce you to a man, but I might be able to help clear up some misunderstandings,” Lulurun said.
“Clear up some misunderstandings?” the Witch of the North said.
“Yes, so first, break your barrier, show them that you’re not dangerous, that you’re not malicious, and then…” Lulurun started.
The Witch of the North looked troubled.
“I can’t do that,” she said.
“Why not?”
After Lulurun though the Witch of the North might accept her proposal, considering all her previous behavior, the answer was, shockingly, one long string of NOs.
She was doubting her ears, but if she wasn’t wrong, the Witch definitely said, “I want marriage.”
