Modern Weapon Summoning System
Chapter 23 - Loot And MG42
Cole approached injured Del. Del still could move since the arrows only hit the minor parts of his body. However, the pain was just immense for him. Most of the injuries that he experienced so far were either too minor or too lethal. He never felt such excruciating pain before.
"Goddamn it, since when did you become that strong?" Del asked as he held his wounds while laying down on the grass.
"Two words. Magical programming," Cole said.
"I see. Well, could you help me treating my wound?" Del asked.
"Well, you do have bandages, so I think I can. Besides, with my book back with me, it shouldn't be hard to do any field treatment," Cole said.
"Field treatment? Since when did you know how to do field treatment?" Del asked.
"Why would I be here if I don't have that kind of training?" Cole asked.
"What kind of training that you've been through anyway?" Del said.
"Every demon who wants to go to the human continent must pass a training called ORSEDE," Cole said.
"I see," Del looked at his wound, "I should have brought some grenades."
Cole opened Del's pocket to search for the sterile gauzes that he always brought. Cole opened the gauze and he also started cutting the arrows one by one. Cole cut the sharp end of the arrows first before he pulled it out.
Del screamed, "Cole! Why would you pull the arrow out? The bleeding becomes worse now."
"Shut up, I'm certified enough to deal with this kind of injury," Cole said as he stuffed gauze into the injury.
The bleeding finally stopped with the usage of gauze. There was no injured artery so stopping the bleeding was quite easy. However, the pain still lingered in his body. Del stood up from the ground.
"Alright, it should be safe to move," Cole said.
"Yeah, let's find Robert and Lize," Del said.
Finding those two wouldn't be hard since there weren't too many places to hide. Maybe they were hiding in the bushes. Del looked around the grassland for a bush that stood out. Robert wasn't a knight in his shining armor so looking for him wouldn't be easy.
"Did Robert get injured or something?" Del asked.
"Why do you ask? I don't even know," Cole continued looking through the bushes.
"If one of them is heavily injured, following the blood trails will eventually lead us to them," Del said.
"Yeah, and if one of them is injured, I hope it is not Lize," Cole added.
Eventually, Cole found them in one of the bushes. Lize was shivering in fear while Robert couldn't believe it when they looked at them. Robert was pointing his sword at them, fearing that they changed sides, and also came after Lize for the bounty on her head.
"H-h-how can you survive all of them?" Robert stuttered.
"Well, a little bit of finesse and help from this demon," Del said.
"It makes no sense, you're an F-rank," Robert sheathed his sword.
"Let's just say that I save your life and you have no right to complain about it, got it?" Del asked.
"I understand, Madam, can you stand up?" Robert asked.
Lize stood up from the ground. When she stood up, she couldn't believe the number of dead bodies that she saw with her eyes. Bounty hunters were known for their skills in assaulting their target, and yet, two F-rank adventurers managed to counter them all. It just didn't make any sense.
"How did you save my life?" Lize asked.
"I don't know. Maybe a little bit of this and that," Del didn't want to answer.
"Nevermind then, let's go back to our carriage," Lize said.
"Ma'am, respectfully, can you give us some time to loot our spoils of war?" Del asked.
"Go ahead, take your time, I'm not in a rush either. After all you've done, I think it's fair enough that to give you two some time," Lize said.
Del nodded and thanked Lize. Del started going into the dead bodies of the bounty hunters. There might be something worth looting. Still, Del wanted the armor of the bounty hunters, but the armor was usually custom-made so it wouldn't fit Del at all.
Plate armor might protect him from some degree of attack from swords and arrows, but it wouldn't protect him from magical spells. Magical spells were known to be great armor penetrators.
Del looted one of the bodies of the bounty hunters. He searched the body thoroughly. So far, he only brought some loose change in the form of copper coins and some silver coins. His sword was broken so Del wouldn't take it.
Del put the coins inside the pocket of his pants. He moved to the next body. The next body was an archer. He continued looting everyone that he could loot. The equipment that the bounty hunters were wearing was either broken or couldn't fit with Del's needs.
Eventually, Del stumbled upon the last body. It was the body of a heavily armored enemy. His armor was the shiniest. Even the sunlight was reflected so brightly on that armor. He might be the leader of the bounty hunter.
Del looted his body. He found a rather decent sword, it might be a good idea to give it to Cole. He also found a knife. The knife was black with a leather grip. That knife would be suitable for him. He might need that sooner or later.
Del went back to Cole, "How much did you find?"
"A lot, maybe I can find around twenty gold coins from my side, how about you?" Cole asked.
"I have more. I found thirty gold coins and better weapons. Here, you said you want a better sword, right?" Del gave Cole the sword.
"Damn, this one looks and feels much better," Cole gave Del his sword back.
"Yeah," Del retrieved his sword back.
Del wore his sword on his hip again. He might have a gun, but a sword would be more useful in close-quarter combat against a melee opponent. Del wouldn't want to get the scenario where he needed to use his sword though.
"What do you want to buy with all this money? We are rich, Del. WE ARE RICH," Cole was ecstatic.
"Yeah, we sure do. Anyway, I'm planning on buying a backpack and an MG-42," Del said.
"What's an MG-42?" Cole asked.
"A gun that goes brrr, you'll love it," Del said.
"A gun? What's a gun?" Cole asked.
"I meant, my magical tool," Del said.
"I see."
Del headed back to the carriage with his pockets filled with money that he looted from the dead bodies of the bounty hunters. Lize had entered the carriage again. They continued their journey towards Begard.
There shouldn't be any bounty hunter up ahead since Begard was more guarded than Midham. Assassinating a high-profile person like Lize in the middle of Begard was as same as looking for trouble.
Not more than one hour later, they eventually arrived at Begard. It was still crowded as usual with carriages filling the streets left and right. The job request also stated that both Cole and Del only had to escort them into Begard. They didn't need to accompany Lize in Begard.
"I guess, this will be the end of our journey. I like you though, I'll contact the guild in Midham," Lize said.
"Alright, I'll head back then, see you later, Lize," Del said.
================================
Del headed back to the inn with pockets filled with gold coins. Lisa didn't greet him since the day had ended. All of the jobs in the evening were her mom's. Basically, if an adventurer wanted a place inside of the inn, the adventurer could tell Rina in the dining area.
Del immediately walked upstairs to his room. He wanted to buy new weapons and new stuff immediately. Del and Cole entered their room and both of them put their gold coins on the table, right beside the metal box.
"Pidma, can you show me something?" Del asked Pidma.

Another metal box appeared on the side of Del's bed. Del approached the metal box and he found the thing that he wanted. The box contained four drums magazines filled with 7..92x57mm Mauser rounds alongside the big MG-42.
"Goddamn it, since when did you become that strong?" Del asked as he held his wounds while laying down on the grass.
