Jiang Bangyuan felt a flame of fury blaze through her veins. She was so fuming mad she could barely keep a cool head!

But she needed to maintain her composure to defend her image as a lady from a respectable family and to protect the Jiang Family’s reputation.

Thus… Jiang Bangyuan strutted over to Quan Rui and Bai Ran mounted on a pair of ten-inch stilettoes and questioned them in a relatively calm voice.

“Rui, Bai Ran. What’s the relationship between you two?”

Bai Ran felt her head throb the moment she heard Jiang Bangyuan’s voice.

This woman was impossible to deal with, a real piece of work.

There was no need for Bai Ran to reply, however, because Quan Rui had already answered on her behalf.

“I’m still considering. What do you think is a suitable relationship? Friends? Soulmates? Lovers?” A playful smile hung on Quan Rui’s lips. As he spoke, he turned his head to look at Bai Ran before he switched to another tone of voice and said seriously, “Or maybe… my wife?”

The two sisters, Jiang Bangyuan and Jiang Yueping, didn’t take the first half of what Quan Rui had said too seriously. After all, they reasoned, he was Master Quan.

To him, women were like clothes that could be discarded after he had worn or grown tired of them.

But why would a person like him have feelings for someone like her? That made no sense at all.

Just as the two of them were starting to relax, much to their shock, Jiang Bangyuan and Jiang Yueping took in the second half of what Quan Rui had said.

Wife?

Is he joking?

Jiang Bangyuan’s face instantly darkened, and she gritted her teeth tightly. She was petrified that he might mean it.

Did Quan Rui just say he wants Bai Ran to be his wife? What about me? I’m his fiancée. How could he say such a thing in front of me? So many thoughts were racing through her mind.

Though she was seething, Jiang Bangyuan did not speak rashly.

On the other hand, she quickly reached the point where she couldn’t hold back her thoughts anymore and blurted out, “Brother-in-law! How could you say such a thing? Aren’t you marrying my sister? Bai Ran is the lowliest wretch in our family…”

Jiang Yueping began to shoot off her mouth off in her moment of anger.

Thankfully, before she could finish her sentence, Xu Chenglin tugged at her and signaled for her to stop.

Jiang Yueping, however, did not appreciate his good intentions. Nobody could stop her when her princess syndrome acted up and got the better of her.

Thus, Jiang Yueping, Xu Chenglin, and Bai Ran became the target of her wrath.

“You fool. She already said she’s breaking off the marriage arrangement with you just now, so why are you still siding with her? She just seduced my brother-in-law!” After Jiang Yueping finished lecturing Xu Chenglin, she began to reprimand Bai Ran. “One’s a fool and the other’s a slut who managed to hook up with my brother-in-law in no time flat. How can you look at yourself in the mirror? You’re an ugly duckling who hopes to become a swan. You still have a long way to go!”

Bai Ran had had her fair share of harsh words from Jiang Yueping while growing up. In the past, she had refused to acknowledge Jiang Yueping’s insults and would not let herself be bullied by her now. The difference, though, was that her father wasn’t here anymore. In the past, he was the only person in the family who could come to her defense and help her. Her sick mother didn’t want her to make trouble, so Bai Ran figured it would be best not to blow things up now.

That being said, there was a limit to one’s tolerance.

Bai Ran looked at Jiang Yueping. What a shrew she was! Just when Bai Ran was about to say something sarcastic, she heard a cool, refreshing voice next to her. That voice, so calm and collected, also exuded an indescribably seductive and overbearing aura.

“I didn’t expect the Third Missy of the Jiang Family to be so eloquent. You say anything that pops into your head, don’t you?” Quan Rui did not comment much, and neither did he sound harsh. But right after he said this, Jiang Bangyuan, who had remained silent all along, turned and slapped Jiang Yueping on the face without further ado.

Slap! The sound resonated in the pitch-black night.
