A-One Hundred Meter 9.58 Second Leg

“The hell! God, what was that! The client never said that we were supposed to kill a superman! The money he gave wasn’t enough for us to buy coffins!” Goggles were in a terrible mental condition, waving around his submachine gun as he cursed.

This was very normal. Anyone would find it hard to believe that the world they lived in was hiding superhumans who could leap from skyscrapers and fire bullets that could curve.

Goggles needed some time to reconstruct his view of the world, but Luo Su had no plans on giving him any psychological guidance, particularly not when the barrel of a submachine gun was being waved in his direction.

“Shut your freaking mouth and hide already! He’s not gone yet! If you don’t want to die, that is.”

Luo Su pushed aside the bearded man’s corpse and hid behind the intersection between the pillar and the railing. Against a curved bullet, this position still wasn’t safe, but he didn’t have any other options.

Goggles heard Luo Su’s words and immediately shut his mouth and began to run over to Luo Su’s hiding spot as if he was trying to bring them down together.

Bang!

Luo Su was about to tell him to scram when his heart leaped. With the bang of a gun, Goggles’s body dropped to the floor, his mouth shut for good.

It was still a headshot. Luo Su’s heart was madly thumping as he stared at the blasted head, the fear of death suppressing all other senses so that he didn’t feel any nausea. Instinctively, he lowered his head and curled up.

Bang!

A bullet blew past Luo Su’s head, the slightly warm gust making Luo Su’s blood freeze.

“System, equip ‘Character Card: Temple Guard,’ hurry!” Luo Su mentally roared. If not for his sixth sense, his head would have already been in chunks.

Luo Su threw aside his sniper rifle and began to see if he had anything else. Other than a flashbang on his back waist, he had nothing less, not even a handgun. He looked one meter away at the submachine gun still clenched in Goggles’ hand and fell silent.

The UMP45 submachine gun with a laser sight was an arm’s reach away. With it, he could become a god, but he worried that if he reached out, he would very quickly not have a hand.

[User, please note that this world does not allow the equipping of ‘Character Card: Temple Guard.’ Please choose another card to use!]

Luo Su’s face twisted in rage upon hearing this. He only had three Character Cards, and the strongest, the Temple Guard, couldn’t even be used. Was he supposed to equip Bolt and try and see if a human could outrun a bullet?

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

As the gun fired several more times, Luo Su curled his body. He wasn’t hit, but Slickback destroyed all the guns on the floor, pulling on the trigger with his godly marksmanship and sparing none, not even the sniper rifle Luo Su had cast aside.

His chances of survival had grown even slimmer!

“Not bad! I rarely miss it. While you’re just a low-end assassin, you’ve got good instincts. You must be their leader. Perhaps you have some information on Cross. Talk, and I can consider letting you go!”

Slickback, sensing that victory was in hand, appeared to be in no rush to kill Luo Su and began to try and extract information. As he was speaking, he spotted a black ‘X’ drawn out in charcoal on the floor out of the corner of his eye.

“What the hell!”

There was a hint of fear in Slickback’s eyes, and then he rapidly fell back. He quickly realized that he was being targeted by an extremely long-distance sniper. The sniper was using a telescope to watch him, and the mark on the floor was the coordinate.

When the predator was hunting prey, they would often end up on the menu of another predator!

Slickback was well aware that the only person who could do this, and the only person who could regard him as prey, was Cross, the strongest assassin in the Fraternity.

“Tell me about Cross, and I promise that I’ll let you go! I guarantee it!” Slickback took another step back as he shouted out between gritted teeth.

Only a ghost would know where Cross was…wait, I think I really do know…

Luo Su recalled this part of the story. The assassin Cross had spent many years silently protecting his son from the shadows, watching him as he grew up. This extended from childhood to adulthood, from school to work.

But Luo Su only knew that there was a metro station nearby, but he didn’t even know its name. If he had a map, he might have been able to point it out, and could even find where Cross’s son was.

But what did that matter?

If he said it, would Slickback really let him go?

No need for that nonsense. This promise wasn’t trustworthy at all. Chang Wei said that he didn’t know martial arts, but didn’t I still see him beating up Lai Fu?1

“System, equip ‘Character Card: Subway Police Officer!'” Luo Su mentally called out. He could only hope that the beer-bellied uncle really was a former Delta Force member.

If that was the case, then he really did have a little hope!

[User equips ‘Character Card: Subway Police Officer.’ Does User also want to equip the Character Card skin?]

The cold mechanical voice asked. Fortunately, it didn’t say that he couldn’t equip the card, or else Luo Su would have had nothing.

“What does equipping the skin mean?”

[When User equips Character Cards, User’s external appearance will be converted to match the Character until the Character Card loses effect.] The system was not so stingy this time and generously replied to Luo Su.

Luo Su recalled the splendor of that middle-aged uncle and imagined the bleak sight of taking off his cap to reveal his receding hairline, and firmly refused. “I don’t need to put on the skin. In the future, if I don’t mention it, take it as a refusal to equip the skin.”

[User does not have the privileges to perform this operation!]

Trash system! Destroyer of youth!

Luo Su took in a deep breath, no longer wanting to argue with this absurd system. “Equip ‘Character Card: Subway Police Officer.’ No need to equip the skin.”

[User has equipped ‘Character Card: Subway Police Officer.’ A time limit of 300 seconds, starting now.]

As the system spoke, Luo Su sensed his body changing. He didn’t feel like he could kill a bull with a single punch, and his Strength, Constitution, and Wisdom did not change. But knowledge regarding firearms and special fighting styles appeared in his mind.

If he was given a gun now, he could put on a show!

“If I talk, you’ll really let me go?”

As Luo Su spoke, he took out the flashbang and lightly tugged at the safety ring.

Slickback smiled. “Of course! I don’t need to fool you. Besides, you can only choose to believe me, right?”

“Fine. Then I’m going to walk out. Don’t aim your gun at me. You’re too accurate.”

Luo Su relaxed his fingers, releasing the lever. After silently counting to two, he threw the flashbang across the ground.

Dingdong!

“Oh shit!

Slickback didn’t wait for Luo Su. The moment he saw the flashbang, he cursed and ran to a corner. As he ran, he didn’t forget to use his gun to fire two curved bullets at Luo Su.

Bang!

Luo Su had an excellent grasp of time, minimizing the window Slickback had to respond. The explosion, the brief flash of light, and the enormous sound momentarily deafened and blinded Slickback.

But Luo Su was in no better state. When he threw out the flashbang, he lunged to the ground. This had saved his life and prevented him from being killed by the curved bullets, but it had also caused him to be caught in the shockwave of the flashbang.

Both of them fell to the ground and groaned in pain. Around two minutes later, Luo Su stood back up. He had only suffered from the shockwaves, so he had recovered much faster than Slickback.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Slickback couldn’t stand yet, so while he crawled backward with one hand, he continuously fired with the other.

Luo Su kept behind a cement pillar while the bullets struck the walls around him, sending out showers of debris. Slickback should have lost his sight and vision, but through pure instinct, he was able to fire on Luo Su’s location.

This was probably why he was one of the world’s best assassins!

“Aaaaah!”

A bullet sunk into flesh, and Luo Su energet…ahem, Luo Su miserably screamed.

“Leg…my leg! My one hundred meters 9.58-second leg! It’s been shot!!!”
