After finishing off Slickback, Luo Su sat down and gasped for air. He hadn’t noticed anything while he was completely focused, but only now did he realize that he had narrowly escaped death several times, his hands and feet shaking. He had even failed to notice two messages from the system.

Glancing at the cooling body of Slickback, Luo Su forced down his discomfort and stared. This wasn’t to subdue his fear and disgust. Rather, back in the police academy, his instructors had told him to look at the body if he had nothing else to do. This was so that he maintained some awe and reverence for death so that he didn’t become one of those weirdos who grew completely indifferent to the concept.

Luo Su had found these words reasonable, but after personally taking life and then staring at this corpse, he felt more and more that it was his instructor who was the weirdo!

Once Luo Su’s heart had settled down, he slowly stood back up. The special forces memories from the Subway Police Officer and his marksmanship memories were long gone. They hadn’t been completely wiped out, and if he thought deeply, he could still find a few traces in his mind, but they were too blurry and indistinct, even more than the memories from a night of getting black-out drunk.

“What an amazing card. Rather than equipping a Character Card, it would be better to describe it as unlocking a learning ability…”

It didn’t matter if he couldn’t remember. Luo Su was confident that he just needed to practice a few times to get the feeling back. Even if he lost 90% of the memories, 10% was still a profit in his eyes.

Luo Su pulled up his sleeve and examined the bruises on his arm. The injuries he had suffered while equipped with the Character Card were still there. This dispelled that unrealistic notion he had previously held that equipping a Character Card would be like getting an extra life.

Now it seemed…

It wasn’t impossible. He still had the Bolt Character Card. If he died, he could see if it was true once and for all.

Luo Su stroked his chin in hesitation. “Why don’t I…try it out?!”

Dinglingling~~Dinglingling~~Dinglingling~~

The chime of a cell phone from the bearded man’s pocket interrupted Luo Su’s suicidal thoughts. He was far too tired to care, and only when the phone began to ring for a second time did he take it out.

It was an old slider phone, the product of a different era. There was no ID on the screen, indicating that this was an unknown caller.

Luo Su answered the call. The person on the other side had a low and raspy voice. “I saw everything. Your performance was surprising. To be frank, you’ve surprised me.”

Luo Su frowned, glanced at the black X on the ground, and surreptitiously hid behind a corner. “Who are you?”

If his guess was right, the person on the other side was Cross, but as Luo Su didn’t have any memories about this man, he pretended not to know him.

“You’re very calm. Good. But I must warn you that there are three police cars two blocks out heading your way. Unless you have a good lawyer, you’d best leave quickly.”

Only now did Luo Su realize that he wasn’t as safe as he thought he was. Just as he was about to leave, Cross started talking again.

“I’ve left a gray pickup truck in the ground floor parking lot—the license plate number 404·OOXX. The door isn’t locked, and the keys are inside. You should know how to drive. Leave that place. I’ll come and find you…”

The call ended. Luo Su put the phone in his pocket, a difficult expression on his face. The third Mission World was probably linked to Cross, and while he hated assassins, he could only grin and bear it.

Getting down from the roof of a 60-floor skyscraper wasn’t something he could do with just his legs. Even with his Long-Distance Runner skill, he wasn’t so masochistic as to try. The police cars would be here soon, so he decided to use the elevator. The surveillance cameras would probably get his face, but Luo Su didn’t have any other option. Besides, he was sure that his face had already been caught by the security cameras when he was traveling to the roof of this skyscraper. It wasn’t like he had just popped into existence on the roof of the tower.

Luo Su was covered in dust from his fight and was still wearing the clothes of a construction worker, so, inside the elevator, he earned quite a few disgusted looks, particularly from those blonde-haired and blue-eyed female white-collar workers. He could even see some racial discrimination in their eyes.

As a son of Yanhuang, who took pride in his country and people, Luo Su could not bear their looks, so he glared back and threatened, “What are you looking at? Keep looking, and I’ll pop your fake breasts! Jesus!”

The women instantly paled. Perhaps it was because he had just killed someone and was giving off a murderous aura, but Luo Su’s glare truly was rather frightening.

Once he was out of the elevator, Luo Su ran toward the parking lot. As he was going out, the city police officers came in. Luo Su acted like he was uninvolved and walked past them, not even exchanging a glance.

Luo Su quickly found the pickup-truck with the strange license plate, a Ford F-150, the illustrious Raptor. This famous truck was a best seller in the United States and a common sight. It could even be considered a symbol of the country.

In China, the Ford Raptor, due to the fact that it was imported and a gas guzzler, was considered a luxury car. But in the United States, it was like a tractor used by farmers, on the same level as the Wuling Hongguang in China. You could get one for twenty-five to fifty thousand dollars, and even cheaper if you haggled.

As Cross had said, the door wasn’t locked and the key was in the ignition. Luo Su put on his seat belt, turned on the engine, put down the handbrake, and drove out of the lot.

[User is driving the Ford F-150, triggering the lottery phase. Would you like to pull now?]

[User has accumulated three pulls. Would you like to pull now?]

Luo Su ignored the system and continued to drive. The United States and China were both left-hand traffic countries, and traffic always kept to the right, so he didn’t find anything strange. And thanks to his English proficiency, Luo Su could drive through this strange city without a problem. But as he drove, he suddenly realized another problem.

“Where do I go now?”

Luo Su had determined from the bearded man’s words that he had an identity in this world, but he didn’t have the corresponding memories. He didn’t even have a driver’s license or anything like that in his pockets, and he had no idea who he could ask about himself.

Not having a driver’s license in the United States was far more serious than not having one’s ID card in China. If he came across a police checkpoint and couldn’t take out his driver’s license, any suspicious actions from him might end up with him getting shot on the spot.

For his safety, Luo Su parked the car in a small alley, locked the door, and began to search through the car. In the back were five clean jackets, a baseball cap, and exercise pants. These had clearly been prepared by Cross.

After changing his clothes, Luo Su cleaned the dust off his face using the rearview mirror. Once he had freshened up, he opened up the system screen and began to test his luck with his three draws.

He happily welcomed the lottery phase. He needed some skills and Character Cards to equip himself, so he couldn’t help but feel a little anticipation. Based on the previous messages from the system, two of the pulls were related to Slickback while the other one was from touching the F-150.

When the three pulls were done, Luo Su and three new cards in his ‘Skills and Equipment’ list.

[Item Card: M9 (What Desert Eagles or limitless ammo? This is enough)]

[Skill Card: Bullet Time (From a scientific perspective, everything observable can be explained)]

[Character Card: BABY (Shrimpcatcher)]

It was obvious that the first two pulls were linked to Slickback, but the third…Luo Su had no idea who this person was. Was it that person whose face was photoshoppe1d?

And…what did Shrimpcatcher mean1?

As a newcomer still in his internship phase, Luo Su didn’t really get it. He could only surmise that this character was somehow linked to driving cars.

The Skill Card ‘Bullet Time’ was good, but Luo Su didn’t immediately use it. If this was a one-time skill, then he would be losing far too much, and good steel should be used on knives. The third Mission World was very dangerous, and ‘Bullet Time’ was a trump card that could save his life. He couldn’t recklessly waste it.

After scrolling through his Skills and Equipment list, Luo Su decided to take out a bottle of Liniment. He had been injured in that fight, and his body was covered in bruises. Just moving around too much made him almost yelp in pain.

Frankly speaking, Luo Su would have preferred Yunnan Baiyao over the Liniment, as it wasn’t appropriate to use Liniment on bruises sustained within the last twenty-four hours.

After rubbing some Liniment on the bruise on his elbow. Luo Su could only sigh in wonder at the Liniment provided by the system. When the system was involved, one didn’t need to talk about common sense. The effect was amazing, and the bruised flesh rapidly cleared away. He could feel a slight and comfortable warmth from his joints.

During this process, Luo Su understood that the rules for using Item Cards were different from Character Cards or Skill Cards. Item Cards didn’t have a time limit when used, but once they were used, they couldn’t be taken out of the current world.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

Someone knocked on the driver’s side window, a black youth with a cheeky smile. Upon seeing Luo Su turned his head, he kindly smiled and said, “Hey, brother, do you know what time it is?”

Luo Su looked around and saw that there were several other youths in black, also dressed in a showy style. From their rowdy aura, they were probably a group of small-time hoodlums.

Money was here!

Luo Su courteously smiled. “Of course I know!”
