"Whoa! Chestnut, that's so cool! You can freely fly now!"

"Squeeeee!" Chestnut continued gliding until he decided to land on Yang Zhang's shoulder. "Squeak!"

"Hehe, you're amazing, Chestnut! I bet you have other tricks in your sleeve, right?"

"Squeak!" Chestnut was excited to show his master the new move, but Yang Zhang stopped him abruptly.

"Wait, don't show me now. It will be more impressive if you show it when we're fighting zombies!"

"Squeak! Squeak!"

Chestnut hugged Yang Zhang's neck as he got even more excited to fight some zombies outside.

Yang Zhang looked at Roselia and showed a big smile, "I'll be leaving now. Please take care of the house while I'm out."

"Yes, Master. It's my duty, take care," Roselia bowed her head slightly.

"And you, Poddie, don't make a mess when Roselia is doing her job, okay?"

"Pii!"

"Okay, I'm going now! To the north!"

"Squeak!"

"Chirp!"

"Vii!"

"Dii!"

Yang Zhang went out and raised his left hand. He opened his palm, and Little Ivy automatically stretched her vines, and they started swinging from one tree to another.

It had been a while since he visited Xi Feng and Mudan. He wondered what had happened to them. But knowing that Xi Feng was such a skilled survivor, he must've been doing well these days, especially with his little sister as a mutated plant now.

Yang Zhang was bored on the way, so he started his usual habit while swinging, "Okay, since this is the first time for Daniella to swing with us, how about we start singing another song?"

"Dii?"

"Yes, a song! All you need to do is follow my song, and we can have fun while swinging!"

"Dii! Dii!"

"Hehe, I have one girl group that I like, let's sing together! It's TT by Twice!" Yang Zhang yelled.

Yang Zhang was having fun along the way until he saw the big and empty field in front of him. The village gate was visible from where he was standing right now.

"Okay, I don't think we need to pass that village. There is nothing inside that village except dozens of ambushing zombies. Let's just swing around the village since Xi Feng's cave is right behind the village."

"Vii!"

Little Ivy swung them to the side to avoid confrontation with ambushing zombies. Yang Zhang finally saw the cave that he had visited once. He asked Little Ivy to drop there.

"Xi Feng? It's me, Brother Zhang!" Yang Zhang called.

There was no answer. He thought Xi Feng was hunting outside, so he checked the cave.

However, much to his surprise, the cave was abandoned!

"Eh? Where is he?" Yang Zhang asked himself. From what he remembered, Xi Feng was a very meticulous teenage boy. He would clean his cave daily. Even Yang Zhang felt comfortable sleeping there once.

But right now, the cave was full of insects, mostly spiderwebs, and there was no trace of Xi Feng sleeping on that stone bed.

"Hmm, where is he…."

Yang Zhang went out, and he looked around, wondering if Xi Feng had moved somewhere else.

"That kid doesn't seem to be the type to move out often. He is very resourceful. There must be something…."

His eyes darted at the village full of ambushing zombies, "Is he inside the village right now? But I don't think I can just walk there without getting ambushed left and right."

"Squeak!" Chestnut jumped from Yang Zhang's shoulder and glided to the ground. "Squeak! Squeak!

"Oh! That's right, you can fly!"

"Squeak!"

"Okay, Chestnut, go and check the village! See if there is a trace of Xi Feng there. I will be waiting here."

"Squeak!"

Chestnut inhaled deep and blew the ground to push himself to the air. Chestnut stretched his arms and used his parachute-like arm to start gliding in the village.

"And now… we wait," Yang Zhang said.

"Chirp?"

"Ah, I remember that you hadn't joined the team when I visited this place."

"This gated village in front of you has some sort of cultish agenda. They're all extremists who ambushed strangers. Now that they had turned into zombies, they retained their ambush tactic and waited in their houses before ambushing whoever came to the village."

"Hm? What do you mean just like that one? What one?"

"Chirp!" Spicy Wing to his back. Yang Zhang turned around, and he was petrified when he saw a zombie peeking from behind a tree. The moment the zombie got discovered, she attacked Yang Zhang instantly.

"HRAARHH!"

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Yang Zhang quickly shot the zombie three times, and the third shot was fatal enough to stop her. The zombie spasmed on the ground before she was dead.

Yang Zhang stared at the zombie for a while because he was both petrified and confused at the same time.

"Wait, this zombie's clothes are similar to those worn by the cultist zombie villagers. This female zombie should've been part of the villager, right?"

"Then why is this zombie hiding behind that tree? Shouldn't she stay with the rest of the villagers?" Yang Zhang asked. "Or maybe… just maybe… they all have left the village to start ambushing everyone outside of the village?"

"SQUEAK! SQUEAK! SQUEAK!" Chestnut glided back to Yang Zhang and raised his voice, telling Yang Zhang there were no zombies in the village.

Yang Zhang's heart skipped for a second, the dawning realization when he looked around the woods near him.

He didn't take a good look because he thought it was safe since the zombies were all stuck in the village.

Yang Zhang noticed dozens of eyes sticking out from behind trees, rocks, and bushes, eyeing him as they were ready to pounce.

Yang Zhang swallowed his saliva, thinking of a better way to escape now because Little Ivy was already terrified to swing around right now.

"I'm so fucked right now," Yang Zhang mumbled. He started having cold sweats on his forehead and back. He knew that the moment he turned around, he would be ambushed by all the zombies at the same time.

He also couldn't use Spicy Wing because he needed a lot of time to heat up the little chick's body. And Chestnut… of course, Chestnut could kill the zombies by zapping their heads. But there were just way too many. Yang Zhang was afraid that Chestnut would get caught in the process.

So his only resort was…

Yang Zhang glanced at Daniella on his jeans and asked in a low voice, "Daniella, how about your red seed? Is it ready to use now?"

"Dii…"

"Oh, the only pink one is ready, I see. Well, better than nothing, I guess. I think I have an idea."

Yang Zhang still believed that the floating red seed from the dandelion would be far more useful since the explosion was always a good thing.

But he had no other way. He looked up and saw Chestnut was still hovering on top of Yang Zhang's head, observing the surroundings to report.

"Squeak!"

"Damn it!' Yang Zhang caused. Chestnut just said that there were a lot of zombies behind Yang Zhang, so he was basically surrounded, just like what happened to him inside the village before.

"Okay, I can't delay any longer," Yang Zhang grabbed Daniella from his jeans pocket and then turned around.

Whoosh!

Yang Zhang quickly dashed to run away from the zombies, but just like what Chestnut said, there were dozens of zombies already blocked his only way to escape.

Soon, Yang Zhang found himself getting ambushed in all directions, it should be hopeless, but he could only hope at Daniella's pink seed right now.

After ensuring that all the hidden zombies were already going after him, Yang Zhang stood on the spot, clutching Daniella in his right hand.

"Daniella, Pink one," Yang Zhang commanded with a low voice.

"Dii!"

Yang Zhang predicted the nearest zombie was only 2 feet away from him. He quickly pointed Daniella to the ground and inhaled deep.

"HRAARRGHH!"

"HROAAARGHH!"

"HAARRGHH!"

NOW!

Yang Zhang blew the pink seeds from Daniella's head, and the fluffy pink seed were all scattered around Yang Zhang's body.

Yang Zhang ducked right before the first zombie grabbed him, and the pink seeds exploded in a chain reaction, creating puffy smokes that confused any nearby zombies.

Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof!

'Okay, this is my chance!'

While the zombies were confused due to the pink smoke, Yang Zhang quickly crawled from under their feet.

After he could break free from the zombies, he got up and turned around. He saw the zombies were standing in the same spot. They didn't move nor attack as long as they were surrounded by the pink air from Daniella's ability.

Yang Zhang quickly ran from them, distancing himself from those ambushing zombies.

But before he could stop and take a breath, he saw zombies' heads start popping from behind every tree he passed.

"AAAAHH! WHY ARE THEY SO MANY?!"
