‘Why is that idiot Hyojun acting like that? He is on a talk show, not a documentary. Doesn’t he know that?’

It seemed that it wasn’t just Hyoyoung who noticed how strange Hyojun was acting. Many of the audience were making comments online that he was acting oddly rigid, and the interviewer tried to lighten the mood. He asked Hyojun carefully, “Uhm, it seems like Black M is very surprised at this news. Are you ok, Black M?”

Hyojun replied in a low voice, “Oh, I guess I have no right to stop him from liking someone.”

The interviewer could feel the coldness in his voice, and he lightened his tone to change the subject.

“You are right, of course. Love is a beautiful thing, and liking someone is a good thing. A minute ago, you mentioned that your little sister is one of the people you love the most, Black M. If a handsome man like Purple M confesses that he loves your younger sister, would you give him your blessing?”

Hyoyoung gasped in shock at the interviewer’s question. She had a bad feeling about this.

As she expected, Hyojun answered firmly, “No. Never.”

It was clear that he was not joking, and the tension became palpable. Even the other members seemed to freeze at the coldness of his answer.

Thankfully, Red M, Jiwoo, came to the rescue.

“Wow! Black M’s answer is no surprise since all older brothers are like guardians for their little sisters! Everyone who is watching the show now knows how Black M feels about his sister dating. If anyone out there is interested in her, you better either give up or get ready to face Black M! Ok?”

Jiwoo, the other two members, interviewers, and the audience laughed, but three people remained stiff.

Kiwook, Hyojun, and Hyoyoung, who was still in the café watching the show.

Hyoyoung thought to herself, ‘Gosh, that bastard is making it impossible for me to date anyone. How is it that he can always make my life so miserable? And he is ruining the interview too… What an idiot my brother is.’

Hyojun and Kiwook still remained quiet, but the interview continued with a lighter mood. The entire time Hyoyoung watched the show, she felt uncomfortable. She felt upset about how Kiwook must have felt at Hyojun’s rudeness and she still couldn’t understand why her brother acted in such an extreme way.

Even long after the show ended, Hyoyoung remained seated in the café. The manager came to her with a frown and said to her, “Miss, we are about to close the store. You need to leave now.”

Hyoyoung looked at the clock and stood up in shock. She hadn’t realized that it was almost 11 PM. It was well over an hour after the interview and when she checked her phone, there were over 100 text messages from Mikyung. There were also several missed calls and voicemails.

“Oh man, I hate this. What is wrong with me? What is happening to my life?”

She grabbed her backpack quickly and got into a cab. The first person she called was Mikyung. Her friend was still texting her constantly, and she was afraid Mikyung might explode if she didn’t talk to her soon.

“I fell asleep!”

That was the first thing Hyoyoung said to Mikyung on the phone.

“What?”

“I mean, after I talked to you, I was so tired that I went to a nearby café. I was watching the show when I totally fell asleep. I only woke up because the café manager woke me up! It was so embarrassing!”

“No way! Then you didn’t even get to watch the show? You just slept through it?”

“Yeah…”

“I just don’t know if I believe you. Should I? I feel like I should, yet something doesn’t sound right.”

“I swear I’m telling the truth. How was the show?”

“Oh, it was amazing. It was spectacular! It included action, romance, and bromance. It had everything! All the members were so hot! I am more in love with Black M than ever. He is such a great older brother. He is so cool and chic. He is SO PERFECT!”

“…”

“Why aren’t you saying anything? Are you still feeling sleepy? It’s because you didn’t get to watch the show. If you did, you would’ve fallen in love with Black M and leave Purple M behind. I am telling you, Black M was awesome! Oh, and I need to warn you that Purple M confessed he has someone he already likes. OMG!! I am telling you now so you don’t faint in shock when you watch the show later.”

“Huh…?”

“He confessed that there is a girl he likes. He said he has liked her for a long time. The internet is exploding with this news! All Purple M fans are feeling betrayed by him. Are you ok?”

“Well…I guess there’s nothing I can do about that…”

“What is wrong with you? Why are you acting like this doesn’t matter? You must be still asleep, that must be it. Go home and go to bed now. Watch the show before you come to school tomorrow and we will talk about it then, ok? I’m hanging up now!”

By the time the call ended, the cab had reached her home. Hyoyoung had no more energy left and she couldn’t wait to get into her bed. She paid the driver and walked slowly to her home. It was only a ten meter walk, but it felt so much longer. Her legs felt heavy and when she was almost at the door, she saw someone coming towards her.

It was Hyojun.

“Oh, hey oppa.”

She felt awkward. Perhaps it was because of that interview. In a way, she felt glad to see him. She felt weak with relief and suddenly, her legs gave in. She was about to fall, but Hyojun came to her quickly and held her tightly in his arms. They had never hugged like this before, so Hyoyoung tensed. Hyojun also seemed awkward, but he didn’t let her go.

“O-oppa?”

Hyoyoung wiggled to get out of his embrace when Hyojun said to her in a quiet voice, “I was worried about you. Do you know what time it is? Do you have any idea how dangerous it could be for a young girl like you out there in the dark? And where is your phone? Why didn’t you answer me?”
