My Career is Useless in this World!!

Chapter 176 - There Is Nothing Impossible In This World

Episode 169 - There is nothing impossible in this world

Grey smoke covered the Veria mountain completely. Due to all the different flares that were shot up to warn people what was leftover of the flares mixed and became grey. The Veria mountain that was known as a beautiful, peaceful, ethereal place that both its masters and servants found comfort in at this moment was destroyed by intruders. There was no longer warmth and only coldness remained on the Veria mountain.

Eugene and her group were being low-key as they headed back to the mansion. Any group of enemies they saw that had more than 2 people was avoided by them, while enemies that were in pairs and less were slain by them.

"Do you find anything odd about this situation Aernest?" Eugene spoke softly as they walked through the forest.

Odd? The oddity of the situation was what made Aernest use his brain so much that he got a headache. He was unsure, and uncertain over everything that had happened and was happening. When he had been training, his senses were focussed on his ears so he would have been able to hear anything from even a kilometer away. Yet.. He had not heard a single thing until the enemy appeared very close to where he was.

Aernest's eyebrows scrunched together. He had many questions but there he was certain of one thing. He turned to Eugene and very seriously said, "They appeared very suddenly."

"Appeared very suddenly?" Eugene repeated. Her eyes searched Aernest's face to see if he was sure. When she saw that he was confident over his words, Eugene turned away. It was like what the head butler and the knight told her. When the enemies were first spotted, they were spotted in the middle of the forest. Not in front, not on top, but in the middle.

Eugene looked up at the dark sky before mumbling, "Right. Nothing is impossible in this world."

"What do you mean, sister?" Aernest questioned.

Eugene looked at the vast grey sky, and then back to the vast forest before saying, "I might not trust anything else, but I trust your ears 100 percent." She turned to Aernest and continued, "I don't doubt your ears."

Aernest's hands reached for his ears and he blushed. What side did his sister wake up on to compliment him like this?

Eugene continued again as she glanced at the opening in the forest that would lead them back to the mansion, "Which means what you heard and think is what happened." Her eyes looked a bit sad, as her voice grew softer, "But do you know what that means?"

Both Aernest and the knights who were listening to Eugene shook their heads. No, they did not know what it meant.

Eugene sighed, "It means they truly appeared 'suddenly'. They didn't come through the bottom nor did they come from the sky." She paused and came to a stop, "It means, they have the means to appear in the middle of the Veria forest, 'very suddenly'." Like teleportation.

Aernest furrowed his brows when suddenly he glanced in a certain direction. His red eyes widened in horror as his hands began to tremble, "SISTER!"

There was no need for any explanation as to why Aernest was suddenly shouting for Eugene because she was already running towards the direction Aernest stared at with full speed. Eugene grabbed the sword that was resting on her left waist and threw it to the enemy at fast speed. The enemy had already been alarmed due to Aernest's shout, hence he skillfully dodge before Eugene's sword could hit him. What he didn't anticipate was not seeing his enemy behind him and only a sheath that was stuck to the ground.

Before he realized it, his shoulders suddenly felt heavy and he saw a zoomed-in waist.

CRACK-

Eugene jumped down before she fell with the enemy and landed in front of Moniqua.

"Eugeneia!!" Moniqua squatted in front of Eugene.

She had been fighting against the enemy whom Eugene just killed. Just before the enemy could land an attack on her, the enemy suddenly moved to the side and dodged a sword that landed behind him. She was only frozen for one second and before she could react, Eugene had stuck her sheath to the group, propelled herself upwards, landed on the enemy, and twisted his head 180 degrees.

There was no need to check as it was obvious that the enemy died instantaneously.

"Are you alright?" Eugene didn't wait for Moniqua incoming inquiries and asked Moniqua. Her eyes did a full scan on Moniqua to make sure there was not a single injury before once again meeting Moniqua's eyes.

"...Oh? I am not hurt." She didn't expect Eugene to be concerned over her and was slightly dumbfounded. Before she could reassure Eugene, Eugene's eyes narrowed down and moved from her to the knight behind her.

"My apologies, Eldest Miss. We have failed to do what you ordered us to do." The knight kneeled down to the ground. His hand rested on his abdomen to hold his injury.

Eugene didn't reply and glanced around to take in information. The extra knights she requested amounted to only 10. And the knights who had already been on their way to escort Moniqua and Euria to safety also only amounted to 10. However… everyone had been totaled and the only knights' standings are five knights who are somewhat injured and three knights Eugene had brought with her.

Eugene's eyes moved to Euria and searched her up and down before it moved to the enemies. She grabbed her sword and her sheath that was embedded to the ground and prepared to fight.

There were 15 enemies in front of her, but she knew that there were more because there were still flares going off around the mountain. Some green, which indicated that the enemies have been brought down, but some black which indicated that the knights have been slain. And because of this, she had no hopes for reinforcements for now.

"Is it possible for the people below to see the flares going off?" She turned around to face the enemy, as she asked Moniqua who was behind her.

What her questions indicated was if the commoners were able to see what's going on.

Moniqua thought for a while before replying, "They can."

'Alright. This means that the people downstairs will raise a commotion due to the flares going off here...' It is even possible that the Imperial guards or knights of Xenperia will report this situation to the Imperial Palace before their messenger bird arrives. But then again, by now, the messenger bird would have arrived at the Palace already. If there were no hidden enemies killing their messenger birds that is.

"Aernest do you hear anything above?" she asked without looking at Aernest who was now standing by her side. Though her ears were good enough to hear far away, she would rather leave it to the expert to be completely accurate.

"No snipers." He replied instantly. Since before they ran back to the estate and now, his ears have been on track to listen to any movements coming from above. It was something he had learned from his simulation training. And that is to always be alert during the operation. Keep your senses high to be on the lookout for enemies, especially hidden enemies.

"How did they get into the Veria mountain?" a voice suddenly spoke out. The voice was cold and distant, but there was a hint of furry in them.

Aernest replied without looking at Euria, "They appeared suddenly."

"Appeared… suddenly?" Euria repeated hesitantly as if she could not believe Aernest's words.

Eugene turned back to look at Euria. She studied her face for a while before blurting, "You know something don't you?" Her words brought everyone's attention to them as they stared at the group of children in surprise.

Moniqua frowned, "What are you saying, Eugeneia. Aernest." Why are they turning against each other especially in this situation? In Moniqua's mind, the children have grown up maturely. And they were mature enough to know not to cross each other in an emergency situation like this.

Euria did not reply however Eugene continued to press her for answers, "Say what you know. It is not the time to keep things to yourself." Unless she wanted them to die, that is.

Again, Moniqua was about to tell Eugene to cut it out when Euria spoke, "I'm not sure." There was resignation in her voice as she responded to Eugene, inciting everyone's curiosity.

"What are you not sure about?" Eugene asked calmly as she turned back to the enemies and watched as the knights engaged them.

Euria bit her lips. Anyone could see her fingers trembling, and when they stopped trembling, her words shocked everyone, including the injured knights.

"Teleportation. For the people to come here so suddenly they must've teleported however, that's not possible.. To teleport, a teleportation circle must be set up for at least 9 months for it to be usable."
