"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Huh?" Startled at his blunt query, Clara seemed much surprised as she revived her senses back. Indeed she was unconsciously staring at his smiling face and he caught her off guard quite unexpectedly. "I...I wasn't looking at you...Ma-Master..." 

"And now you are lying as well... You know, you look quite pathetic in lying." Sipping the hot soup from the bowl, he seemed much composed while murmuring his answer.

"Okay, okay! You don't have to insult me any further. Ye-Yes, I was wondering, since the morning I didn't see you smiling even once... It was nice to see you grinning again." Stuttering in a panicked voice, she cited.

Surprised at her honest interpretation, momentarily Czar stopped eating and continued glancing at her anxious face. Wiping his mouth with a tissue, he frowned his eyebrows before asking, "do you have... feelings for me?"

"What?" In a grouchy tone, she shrieked out almost startling every other person residing beside them in the restaurant. 

"I asked if you have any feelings for me?"

"Why would I do that? What for?" Making a disgusted face, she sounded quite irked, clenching the fork harder in her grasp.

"Hmmm, then it's all good." He seemed much relieved with her answer, tossing a broad smile while focussing on cutting the chunk of steak using a fork.

"Master, what's with this absurd question? It really startled me for a moment--"

"I just wanted the confirmation from you," gulping down the piece of beef, he sipped some water smirking on his own. "To be honest, the disgusted face you just made is your normal reaction. It startles me whenever you talk over such cheesy things... I...don't want our current relationship to turn into a complicated one." 

"Then rest assured, it would never happen to us at least, not to me. I have already told you, Master, you are the polar opposite kind of person who will suit my taste. I was just glad to see you smiling normally, that's all." She further clarified her intention of taking a small sip of water from the glass placed before her on the table. "But...I have a question... Why did you ask me to accompany you to the breakfast today, Master? You could have come with your friends..."

"Friends? What's that?" Fretting his eyebrow ridge, he queried her abruptly in a cold voice.

She didn't expect such a kind of response as she was quite used to his playful nature and assumed that he might be quite popular. Such an answer from him somehow surprised her for a moment. "Don't you have...friends?"

Hearing her query, a sad smile appeared on his slender soft lips as he took a heavy huff of breath out. "Everyone around me either wanted to cling into my bed or just, they were enchanted by my social status. I intended to flow along with my whims and turned them into my plaything. I toyed with them till I got bored and tossed them away or... killed them. If they are known as friends then yes, I had plenty of friends around me. But...if not, then unfortunately I don't have friends."

All silent and numb, Clara intensely looked into his sad eyes while he was trying hard to hide his inner pain. Somehow, a tinge of sadness rose in her heart as she wondered, "I can understand... It must be hella lonely not to even have a shoulder lent to you if you want to cry your tears out. It must have been so lonely and tired of desperately looking for someone who understands you but in the end, comforting your inner self by taping your own shoulders. I...feel pity for this man... He tries so hard to be a bad wicked guy, but it's the protective shield he has formed around himself to escape from despair." 

"Hey, why are you looking at me with that pitiful gaze in your eyes?" Frowning his chin, he stated a sharp query.

Emitting a deep sigh out, Clara shook her head in declination without saying a single word about her worriments for him. "Friends are someone...who can lend you their shoulder when you want to wail out aloud after pretending to be strong for so long. Friends are someone who is honest with you, can understand you, your secrets, your pain, still tend to stick around you no matter what happens... Friends are someone, when they are around, they would make you feel comfortable and pleased rather than feeling lonely and glum. That's what I know, master." She whispered in a soft note looking straight into his eyes tossing a small simper.

"Wow! Do such beings ever exist in life?" 

"Of course! Look at me! I have my Eva who taught me what does friendship stands for...and that's why I am following you and your whims just to be with her forever..." 

"Then why do you hide your identity from her? She is your friend, she should understand your secrets." A quick reciprocal tossed back from him as soon as she interpreted her explanation.

All of a sudden, the small simper she had along on her grimace vanished into thin air, occupied by a dark fazed expression. Anxiously lowering down her eyeballs, she mumbled, "I...I don't want Eva to be scared of me after learning my real truth... I want to pretend as a human at least around her because...I don't want to lose her faith in me... This is the utmost secret which I have kept hidden from her...I don't want it to ruin our friendship." 

Watching her making a serious perplexed face, resting his chin on his broad palm, unknowingly Czar continued staring at her blinking his dark black eyelashes consistently. He was immersed in his thoughts, tapping his feet down the table nonchalantly.

"Friends, eh? Umm, why did I think of her for accompanying me today when I was feeling down? She has been honest with me till now. Somehow, her presence doesn't make me uncomfortable around her either... So...is that how friends feel?"
