My Destined Werewolf Mate

Chapter 30 - She Hates Wolves!

It was around 6 pm. For the rest of the day, Eva didn't face any further troubles. For the rest of the day, she tried to keep looking for Zeus but he seemed to be avoiding her due to some reason.

With a frown face, she was wandering out of the office. "I don't understand that guy... He seems completely different when he is with me alone... But suddenly, his gesticulations transform in front of others... Is he just tossing me around? Or... he wants to hide something from me?" She was lost in her dubious thoughts.

"Have you been stressed today?"

She flinched with the sudden voice behind her and turned around. Ross was standing behind and as she looked back, he waved his right arm towards her with a warm smile.

She was a bit surprised to confront him all of a sudden outside her office and smiled awkwardly. He approached her with a blissful smile and gazed quite intensely at her.

"Why do I always find you stressed whenever we meet? Yesterday and today too." He chuckled while inquiring about her.

Eva sighed heavily and averted her eyes downwards. "Yeah, my life has been quite stressed out nowadays... I guess nothing is going right with me. But, what are you doing here, Ross?"

"Remember, I told you last night that I work for the Pluto industries. And it's quite nearby from here. I was just on my way back home and coincidentally I saw you looking all baffled while heading out." He expressed his words with a firm gaze glued upon her.

Suddenly his eyes stuck on a shinning stone tied up on her neck and he scrunched his eyebrows. He didn't look pleased to discover it.

"Isn't it, hematite?" Unknowingly he blurted out with a blunt tone.

Eva immediately looked at the pendant and grabbed it with her soft right hands. "Well, I don't know what it is called, but how do you know about it?" She reciprocated his question.

Ross seemed a bit vexed with her curious confrontation and tried to avert the topic. "Umm, I...I read about it in a magazine, that's why I recognized it. But as far I know... It's quite rare to find, where did you find it?" His eyes were locked on the pendant during their conversation.

She glanced at the shimmering back stone and caressed it with tender. "Why did you give me such a rare gem? Is this one of your way to shake up my heart?" She smiled a bit as it reminded her of the moment when Zeus tied up the pendant on her neck with the passionate closeness lingering between them.

Ross narrowed his eyes as he was a bit startled to witness her warm smile while ogling at the stone. "Do you know why this gem is so rare?" He tried to evoke curiosities in her with a sly grimace.

She raised up her chin and shook her head in declination. "Does it have any magical powers?" She asked while grabbing the stone tightly in her soft hands.

"It is known to keep the attacks of evil spirits and supernatural beasts away from one who possessed it. So, yes, it's quite rare." He responded while tapping his feet impatiently.

"Pfft!" Eva abruptly smirked with his confrontation and cover her mouth with her right arm. "That's nonsense. They are just superstitions created by people on their own. I don't believe any of it." She had a small sneer on her face while replying to him.

Ross felt a bit amused with her reaction and gritted his teeth with an impish expression. "Why? Don't you believe that supernatural beasts exist in the real world? Don't you believe malevolent spirits exist?" He seemed inquisitive.

"Of course not. They are just fairy tale stories made up by the people." She abruptly replied with a bold smirk.

Ross didn't utter a single word and contemplated at her with a sinister smile. "I am well aware of who gave you this pendant to wear on. It must be that bastard stalker alpha, aargh! Till it's hanging on your neck, I can't even lay a single scratch on you...

But from your sweet smell, I can perceive that you would be extremely delicious. It is making my cravings stronger for such a tasty meal." He was lost in his eerie thoughts with a fixed gaze towards her.

"Ross, what are you thinking about?" She called him aloud as he looked lost in an unknown world of solicitudes.

He regained his senses back and slowly took out two tickets from his pocket. With a deceptive smile on his face, he politely asked her, "well I have these two gift coupons with me. One is the tickets for The National Zoo and the other one is for The Aquarium. But sadly, I don't know many people here as I am shifted in this locality recently.

If you are free this weekend, do you wanna go with me to the zoo? Well, you can consider it as a small date between friends."

Eva was startled by his sudden proposal and lowered her gaze with a frowned expression before answering anything. For a moment she was awfully quiet.

"I... don't wanna visit the zoo..." She murmured.

He frowned his eyebrows and interrogated her, "may I ask, why?"

She fidgeted anxiously before answering with a heavy sigh, "I...despise wild animals... especially wolves... So, if it's okay with you, I can visit the Aquarium with you." Her tone sounded quite distressed.

Ross was amused with her reaction and controlled his evil laughter in front of her. "She hates wolves? That's really interesting!" He wondered with a sneer.

......

Zeus was listening to their conversations silently from afar behind a giant pillar of the building. Somehow, his heart was stabbed brutally with an undefined sword of pain as he heard her words being conveyed to him.

With a heavy sigh, he gazed at the sky with a stare of emptiness in his eyes. "She hates wolves..." He murmured in a broken voice with a glimpse of tears shimmering in the corner of his dark eyes.
