My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 103 In It Together

The ball came flying toward the goalpost from thirty yards out, there wasn't much elevation as the ball was heading toward the bottom right side of the goalpost.

Dave dived toward the ball and with both of his hands formed into fists, he punched the ball out before it could fly into the goalpost.

The shot had been played by Minino who was jogging his way to him now.

"Nice save." The midfielder said just as he got closer to him.

"Thanks," Dave said, adjusting his gloves.

"Hey, Dave, Minino, think fast."

The two quickly turned to the side to see the ball from Mateo heading toward them from above.

The first thing Minino's instinct had told him was to jump up and put the ball into the back of the net with his head while Dave's instinct had told him to jump up and hit the ball out as he was in a really good position to get to the ball before Minino, he was off his goal line.

The two jumped up to do exactly what their instincts had told them to do, Dave had gotten to the ball first well because he was in a better position and he was the one using his hands but Minino had almost gotten to the ball at that same time and in the process of hitting the ball out, he palmed him on the face.

"That's not good," Mateo muttered as Minino fell to the floor and quickly put his face down.

"Hey, are you okay?" Dave quickly got on the ground beside him to ask with a concerned look on his face.

"Yeah, but I think you broke my nose," Minino mumbled before slowly bringing up his head to reveal his nose which was bleeding from both sides.

"Your nose is bleeding," Dave said.

"As expected." The midfielder said before wiping off the blood spilled on his nose with one of the fingers on his left hand. "But don't worry, it's nothing serious."

Mateo had made his way to the first aid kit to grab a tissue box before heading to Minino who was still sitting on the floor.

"Here." He said, handing him the tissue box.

"Thanks." The midfielder said before taking the tissue box from him.

He wiped the blood off his nose before pulling out another piece of tissue which he put into his nose holes to reduce the bleeding.

"You know this was your fault right?" Dave said shooting Mateo a piercing stare.

"No, if you had decided to let him have the header or he had decided to leave the ball for him this wouldn't have happened," Mateo said.

<He has a point>

"Yeah, but you didn't cross the ball for one of us to act like he didn't care did you?" Minino said.

Mateo stared at him for a few seconds before replying.

"No, I didn't." He said, shaking his head.

After a few more training drills, the training session had finally come to an end and the players made their way back to their homes to get ready for their trip to Frono.

The training session was a short one just like Norman said and had only lasted for two hours.
Dave arrived home by 1:30 PM and after parking his car in his normal parking spot, he got down from the car and quickly made his way to the door.

He made his way upstairs after entering the house and on reaching his room, he dropped his backpack on the bed before making his way to his closet which was on the left side of his room.

He opened the closet to reveal another backpack similar to the one he had just dropped on his bed sitting on the wooden platform attached to the wall.

The only difference between the backpack he was holding and the one on his bed was that this one had thin red lines running down its hand sides and it seemed to be a little bigger.

He sat down on his bed and unzipped the bag to see that he had forgotten to take out his man of the match award after getting home from his last match.

The man of the match award differed from league to league and that of Bilbeth Premier League resembled the golden boy award, the only difference was that it was smaller and was silver colored instead of gold.

He brought out the award from his bag and stared at it for a while running his fingers around the ball part of the award.

<Better awards will come if you keep pushing>

'I know.' He replied before getting up from his bed.

He walked toward the small cupboard in the room and dropped the award there before picking up the backpack on the bed.

That was his training backpack so he needed to transfer some things from there to his match day backpack.

All the players were expected to be at the stadium before 4:00 PM so that they could start their trip to Frono.

They were expected to arrive at the Frono Da Best stadium by 5:30 PM to settle down for the match which was starting by 7:30 PM and in order to get there on time, they needed to leave by 4:20 PM latest because unlike Spree, Frono was quite a distance away from Unique City and would take about fifty minutes for them to get there by flight.

Dave didn't waste any time in getting ready and was now making his wear downstairs putting on a black jacket with a pair of black pants which looked like jeans but they weren't jeans and a pair of white sneakers with black designs.

Just before heading toward the door, he brought out his phone from his pocket to dial someone up.

Emma was making her way toward the restroom area when her phone began to vibrate in her hand.

She stopped in the corridor to pick up the call before placing the phone against her ear.

"Hey, how are you?" Dave asked.

"I'm okay, you?" She replied.

"I'm okay too." He said.

"I'm guessing you're at home getting ready to head to the stadium so that you guys can start your trip to Frono." She said,

"Yeah, that's correct," Dave said, forcing a smile on his face.

"And you're calling to check on me." She said,

"Yeah."

"Or you just want to know if I've seen my period yet."

<She knows it>

"Yeah, have you…Ummm…seen it?" He asked.

Asking her questions about things like this makes him feel really awkward.

"No." She replied.

"Oh."

"I think I'll do a pregnancy test if I get home to confirm things." She said, "I guess you've been thinking about what I told you in the morning all day."

"Not exactly all day but yeah, I've been thinking about it a lot."

"Hey, listen to me, I know you're nervous and so am I as this would be a first experience for me if this turns out that way but do you know why I'm not that nervous about it?"

"Why?"

"Because I've got you and we're in this together, you're not in it alone, you have me." She said, "That should clear up your mind a little unless you no longer want to be with me."

"Of course, I want to be with you." He said abruptly.

"Then stop acting like you're the one who has to deal with everything if I turn out to be pregnant."

"Okay." He said with a sigh.

"You should be heading to the stadium now, you have a match to win." She said,

"Yeah, see you there."

"See you there." She said before he ended the call.

After bringing down the phone, Emma heard something behind and slowly turned to see Matthew standing a little distance away from her.

"I was heading to the restroom." He said as soon as she saw him.

"You heard all that didn't you?" She said, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah…." Matthew said with an awkward expression on his face.
