My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 161 The Meeting

Dave made his way downstairs to find Emilia sitting on the couch in the living room tying her laces

'She's already up.'

She heard him coming downstairs and slowly raised her gaze to look at him.

"Hey, good morning." She said with a bright smile on her face.

"Good morning." The goalkeeper said but he didn't return the smile. "You're up already."

"Yeah, and I was wondering when you were going to come down." She said before getting up from the couch.

Dave kept his gaze on her as she slowly made her way to the door and pulled it open.

"Shall we?" She said before leaving the house through the door.

Nothing was said between the two for a while as they covered one kilometer but Emilia had things she wanted to say to him and she was going to start talking now.

"So, Emma's coming home today right?" She said,

"Yeah." He said.

"By what time are you going to pick her up?" She asked.

"Noon." He replied.

"Good, it will be nice to have a small chat with her off the hospital before going to the seminar."

"Small chat, I thought it starts by 1:00 PM and you are supposed to be there before the said time."

"That was yesterday, it starts by 2:00 PM today." She said.

"Oh."

"Today's the last day, so I'll be returning home tomorrow or possibly today depending on when we finish but if I were to take a guess, it's going to be pretty late to go home by the time everything's concluded." She said,

"Possibly today, can't you stay one more day?" Dave asked before coming to a sudden halt in front of the path leading into the forest.

"You want me to stay one more day?" She said with a surprised expression on her face.

"Yeah, I'm sure Emma would want that too, she's been in the hospital all this while you've been here and I'm sure she would love to at least spend one full day with you before you go." He expressed.

"So, you're asking for her."
"Yeah, and I'm also asking for me, it's really nice having you around the house." He said. "Any man who marries you will be really glad."

Her cheeks slowly turned red after hearing Dave say that, talking about something like this with him made her uncomfortable so she decided to change the topic.

"Are we going to take this route again today or do you have somewhere else in mind?" She asked.

"Of course, we're taking the route but we'll just climb up and down the hill three or four times and we don't have to go into the market unless you want to get something."

"No, we'll stick to what you just said, it sounds good to me." She said

That was the message that popped up on his system screen as he made his way into the house, his breathing seemed to be a little paced.

'It's good to get rewarded for hard work no matter how little it may be.' He said subconsciously as he walked toward the couch.

He sat down on the couch and let out a deep sigh before the door was pushed open for Emilia to enter the room breathing heavily with her face.

"You had to race me back after all those climbing up and down the hill." She was still panting as she made her way to the couch and crashed down beside Dave.

"You were the one that said you could beat me." The goalkeeper said before turning his gaze to her with a smug look on his face.

"And you don't even seem to be out of breath." She said with a surprised expression on her face.

'Even I am surprised, all that work didn't even push my energy and stamina that much.'

"Well, I am an athlete." He said, moving a little closer to her.

He had gotten so close to her that the two were just gazing into each other's eyes and she may have frozen up in the process.

"Um." Was the first word that escaped from her mouth after snapping out of her daze and she had to quickly turn over to the other side. "I think I'll need a few minutes before I can do anything."

"Yeah, take your time.

________ ________

Picking Emma up from the hospital didn't take that long because she was already waiting for him in the reception area when he arrived and after exchanging a few words with the doctor who happened to be in the area by that time, the couple made their way out of the hospital and were on their way home now.

"So the night fever has stopped completely," Dave said with his gaze on the road.

"Yeah, but I still have to complete my dosage so that it doesn't come back." She replied.

"Yeah."

There was a little moment of silence between the two before Emma decided to ask him a question.

"Has Emilia left for the seminar?" She asked.

"No, not yet." He said, shaking his head.

"Why? Does she want to arrive late?"

"No, the seminar starts by 2:00 PM today so she still has a lot of time left.

"Oh." She said,

"I know you guys have been having the time of your lives." She said,

"Yeah, it's nice being with Emilia especially when we go for our morning runs together, apart from that we haven't really spent much time together, she has a seminar to deal with and she goes to bed way too early."

"Yeah, she doesn't like staying up too late unless she is forced by someone like me," Emma said.

<She's just being cautious>

It didn't take long before they got home and while Emma stepped down from the car, Dave remained seated.

"Aren't you coming down?" She asked.

"I have to be somewhere in a few minutes now." He replied.

"Where?"

"The stadium."

"Why? Do you have a training session?" She asked.

"No, it's something else." He replied.

"What?"

"It's hard to explain right now, I'll promise I'll tell you when I get back, Emilia prepared something special for you inside, and please tell her that she would have to find a taxi but I'm going to come pick her up." He said before he drove into the road, reversed properly, and then zoomed off.

It didn't take him long to arrive at the stadium and after parking his car in the parking lot, he slowly stepped down from it and slammed the door shut.

He stood there for a while staring at the building as if he was waiting for something and after looking at the building for a while, he turned his gaze to the entrance.

"Like father and son huh." He muttered before he began to make his way to the area.

<This could go either way, that's always the possibility>
