My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 272 A Moment To Cherish

Just like Steve said right after Mateo scored that third goal, the match was pretty much over and there was nothing Black Roz FC could do about it.

The normal ninety minutes of the match had been exhausted and now they were in the third minute of the eight minutes of added time with Black Roz FC desperately pushing for a goal despite knowing fully well that it was futile.

George received the ball down the right wing and quickly cut down through the middle before laying the ball off down the middle for Aveiro who was heading toward the edge of the box at that exact time.

The striker got past Adolf with a neat body faint, and before Aima could get to him, he quickly fired the ball toward the goalpost.

"Aveiro!"

The ball was sent flying toward the right side of the goalpost, but that wasn't a problem for Dave who just had to watch the ball float over the bar and as soon as the ball was out, the referee blew his whistle thrice to officially bring the match to an end.

"Dave gets to watch that one fly over the bar, that was their last chance as the match has finally been concluded," Jim said. "Another match, another victory, and another clean sheet, and with this victory, they now sit in second with six points, just behind Supreme United because of goal difference."

"They said they have what it takes to fight for the title this season and they've started off nicely, two matches, two victories, and zero goals conceded." Steve expressed.

The fans stood up to applaud the home team as they made their way to their stand area while Black Roz FC players slowly made their way down the tunnel.

[ Quest failed ]

[ You failed to provide an assist in the match ]

'That's okay, winning the match is all I care about, and we even did it with a clean sheet.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously as he softly clapped.

<Yeah, but you know you could have completed the quest if you actually tried>

'What do you mean by actually tried, Mateo almost scored from my pass and he almost got injured badly.'

<Yeah, but you just didn't try hard enough>

'If that's what you think, then maybe I'll think of trying a little bit harder next time.

After the happy moment with the fans, it was time for the players to start heading down the tunnel.

"Hey, guys!"

Dave and Mateo who were standing together at that moment turned to see Emma waving at them from the sidelines.

"What's up?" Dave said with a smile on his face as soon as they got to her.

"Congrats." She smiled before punching him on the shoulder. "Great performance."

"Thanks." The goalkeeper said as he slowly rubbed the part of his shoulder where she punched.
"You too." She said before she turned to her brother and punched him on the shoulder.

"Hey," Mateo said before he grabbed onto his shoulder and glared at her. "Sorry about that, my hands just moved on their own but that goal of yours was superb."

"Thank you." The winger replied.

"You guys are now leveled on points with Supreme United at the top of the table, that's nice." She said before she quickly scanned the area. "Now, I just need someone to interview from your team."

"I got interviewed during the last match, so try Mateo today," Dave said before pushing the winger toward his sister.

"Hey." The winger complained but before he could say another word, she grabbed him by his right arm.

"Let's go, Mateo." She said before dragging him along with her to where she was heading.

Dave was announced as the man of the match at the end of the match, and after picking up his award and taking an official picture with it, the goalkeeper began to make his way down the tunnel.

'Just show me my post-match rewards.'

<Roger that>

[ Victory rewards ]

[ Four crucial saves: +40 exp ]

[ Goals conceded (0): +120 exp ]

[ Scored a goal: +150 exp ]

[ Match rating: 8.8 ]

'I guess I contributed a lot to keeping this clean sheet.' The goalkeeper said subconsciously.

<Yeah, saving that penalty kick was no joke>

[ 615/900 exp ]

<You've gotten quite close to leveling up again>

'Yeah, I just need two hundred and eighty-five exp.'

<If you had completed that match quest then it would have been way closer than this>

'I know, we have another match next week, if things go well for me and the team then I'll be leveling up after that match but it's not going to be easy, I think it's going to be our first tough match of the season.' He said subconsciously. 'Dynamo FC aren't exactly in form, but I know they can put up a fight against us.'

<Yeah, but your team is different in every aspect now, so things may not turn out the way you think they will>

'I hope so.'

All the players along with Norman arrived in the locker room about twenty minutes after he got there.

Norman congratulated them and told them a few other things regarding the next match and their training schedule before they were all allowed to start heading home.

"Alright then, guys." The goalkeeper said to Mateo and Merino who was now heading toward their cars before he turned his gaze to Minino who limping toward his car. "I hope you'll be able to take part in the next match, Minino."

"Don't worry, Dave, this is just a minor injury, I'll be back for the next match like nothing ever happened." The midfielder said enthusiastically with a bright smile on his face.

<He sure has a lot of energy>

"That's good news." The goalkeeper said before opening the door to his car. "See you around then."

After saying that, he hopped into his car and started the engine before quickly zooming off out of the area.

It didn't take him long to get home and after parking his car in its normal spot, he got down from it and made his way to the door.

He wanted to open the door with his key but on second thought he decided to knock and see if Emma would respond, but before he could hit the door with his fist, the door was pulled open by her.

"I knew it was you." She smiled.

'Oh, yeah, the car.' He said subconsciously before turning his gaze to his car.

"Come inside." She said before she dragged him inside and shut the door. "I made dinner."

"Really?" The goalkeeper said before turning his gaze to the dining area to see that she wasn't kidding.

"Just go upstairs and change and we'll eat dinner together, okay." She said.

"Okay." The goalkeeper said before he quickly made his way upstairs.

After getting to his room, the goalkeeper dropped his bag on the bed before he brought out his phone from his pocket to see a notification for an article pop up on his screen.

'Top ten top scorers in the Bilbeth Premier League after Unique FC vs Black Roz FC.' He read subconsciously before clicking it.

After opening the page, he went through the list carefully to see that he was the one in tenth place just behind Alex Sandro and Merino who also had the same number of goals as him.

'This clearly isn't going to last, but this is a moment to cherish.' He said subconsciously as he stared at his name on the list with a bright smile on his face.
