My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 295 A Quest In My Condition?

Just ten minutes into his sleep, the goalkeeper found himself in the endless white space.

He didn't turn on dream control yesterday, but he decided to turn it on today just before going to bed.

"If my legs won't let me train in the real world, then I'll train in here."

"Yeah, and the main event today is completing your reflex training, you're still stuck in one second."

He quickly turned to see that Catherine had approached him from behind today.

"Hey, don't sneak up on me like that." He said before flinching back a bit.

"Sorry." She said. "Like I said, you have to try and complete your reflex training today."

"Yeah, yeah I know, although, I wanted to do something a bit fun and creative today." He said.

"You can do that tomorrow if you manage to master one second today." She said.

After saying that, the environment began to change until the goalkeeper found himself on an empty pitch standing in between the sticks with the three human figures already there with their balls trapped under their feet.

"Are you ready?" Catherine asked.

As soon as Dave heard that question, his gloves and boots appeared on his hands and feet.

"Yeah." He replied before pulling his gloves down a little on his hands.

"Okay, here they come."

The first ball was sent flying toward the left side with just a little elevation as he quickly dived toward it and pushed it out.

As soon as he made that save, the second ball was sent flying toward the top right-hand corner.

He quickly got up on his feet, dived toward the ball, and punched it out before falling into the goalpost.

He wasn't able to get up on time for the last ball which was sent toward the bottom left-hand corner.

"You kept out two, that's nice, you're starting to get there," Catherine said.

After about forty minutes of training in his dream, the goalkeeper slowly opened his eyes to see that he was still lying on his back as the first thing he saw was the ceiling.

<You're starting to get there, tomorrow may be the last day>

'I hope so.' He said subconsciously before turning his gaze to the side to see that Emma was still fast asleep.

After that, he picked up his phone from the top of the cupboard and tapped the power button to see that the time was 5:55 AM.

'It's already morning, so it's not bad if I go downstairs without disturbing her.' He said subconsciously.

<I'm not even going to try and stop you, I've done enough>

Dave didn't reply to her and slowly stepped down from the bed.

He was about to pick up his crutch when he felt Emma move and suddenly froze.

<If you're so sure that it's okay then why did you just freeze?>

'I thought you said you weren't going to try and stop me.'

<I'm not, I'm just throwing in a question>

He slowly turned around to see that Emma was still fast asleep before he picked up his crutch and slowly made his way out of the room.

After getting out of the room, he made his way downstairs and straight to the kitchen.

His destination on getting to the kitchen was the freezer, he pulled out a liter of bottled water from there and took down the content before allowing the container to drop to the floor.

After that, he made his way to the living room and slowly sat down on the couch.

He stared at the blank television screen for a while before he let out a deep sigh.

"If this other leg was working now then I would just head outside and have a refreshing ten-kilometer run or more." He said.

<If you miss running that much, then go outside, it may make you feel better>

'Yeah, that's not a bad idea.' He said subconsciously before he picked up his crutch and slowly got up from the couch.

He went outside and walked around the lawn for a while with the help of his crutch before he made his way to the garage area which was the place where he usually left for his runs through.

On getting there, he rested his body on his car and stared at the sky which was slowly getting brightened up by the rising sun with a bright smile on his face.

'This is a joke, right?' He said subconsciously before letting out a little chuckle.

<Does it look like a joke to you?>

The goalkeeper didn't reply immediately as he stared at the quest waiting for it to go away.

'Why would the system give me a quest in my condition? I'm not supposed to be moving around too much.'

<Two kilometers isn't too much, your leg feels better now compared to that first day, that's how you're able to move freely like this so I don't think this quest will be a problem for you, but you can still go ahead and forfeit the quest if you think that you're not up for it>

The goalkeeper quietly stared at the sky for a while before he picked up his crutches and began to head down the road.

<What are you doing?>

'Isn't it obvious? I'm not forfeiting the quest.'

It took him a couple of minutes to get to the park which was two kilometers away from his house, and now he was sitting on the bench there.

He had to walk really slowly to avoid hurting his right ankle but he managed to complete it.

<Don't just sit there wasting time, remember you have to get home before Emma wakes up>

"Yeah." He said before he picked up his crutch and quickly sprang up from the bench.

He felt like running to avoid getting caught by his wife but if that was possible for him at the moment then there wouldn't be any reason to avoid getting caught by her.

It took him a couple of minutes to get home and after that, he sped up his pace to get to the door.

He stared at the door for about five seconds before he slowly opened it and stuck his head through to scan the area.

After scanning the area and making sure that she wasn't in the area, he slowly made his way into the house and slowly closed the door.

After that, he slowly made his way to the couch and sat down on it.

As soon as his butt touched the couch, he let out a deep sigh of relief before relaxing on it.

"Do you mind telling me where you ran off to this early in your condition?"

He quickly sat up on the couch and slowly turned his gaze to the kitchen where he had heard the voice come from to see her standing there with her arms crossed.

'I'm done for.' He said subconsciously before swallowing hard.

Her eyes were fiery to the extent that he was imagining them lighting up with actual flames.
