My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 315 Don't Get Caught Up

After making sure that everyone who was supposed to be on the plane was in the plane, the aircraft took off by 5:05 PM.

After that little celebration in the room, everyone was now quietly sitting in their seats.

Mateo and Dave were sitting together as always but they were both minding their business with their gaze on their phones.

Mateo was still going through his phone when a smile suddenly appeared on his face.

"You know, it was really nice to play a competitive match outside the Bilbeth Premier League and the super cup." The winger said.

"Yeah, the UEFA Europa Conference League, we fought hard to beat Lesica United to the spot last season and now we have it. I think we all got that satisfying feeling playing there today, especially the players who were experiencing a European competition for the first time just like you and me." Dave expressed.

"Yeah, it was a satisfying feeling."

After almost two hours in the air, the players finally arrived at Unique FC's airport, and just as they stepped down from the plane, the team's bus was there to take them to the stadium.

The entrance of the stadium was filled with a lot of fans who were there to congratulate the players on their victory against FC Basel in the first leg of their Europa conference League qualifiers match.

Of course, a barricade rope had to be set up to avoid the fans from encroaching into the path to the entrance and start making unnecessary contact with the players while preventing the players from entering the building.

"That is a lot of people," Dave said with a confused expression on his face after stepping down from the bus.

"Yeah, they're a lot but I bet they're going to be more than this if we end up winning the conference League," Minino said before stepping down from the bus.

The loudest chants among the fans came from the ones screaming Mateo's name and a lot of them were the young females who had a crush on the youngster now.

Of, course they weren't going to forget Dave, their stronghold behind the team's fortress.

The goalkeeper's name could be heard loud and clearly among the fans and there were a lot of people calling him to get an autograph for him, but there was nowhere he would be able to give an autograph to all of them there.

The other players were also getting attention from the fans who admired them but not everyone was getting attention.

Mateo had just signed a ball for a young boy and just wanted to quickly head into the building when someone yelled his name just before he could walk past her.

The winger paused and turned his gaze to where he heard the voice to see a young red-haired girl about the same age as him holding up a copy of his home jersey for him.

"Do you mind signing this for me?" She asked politely.

"Okay." The winger replied before stretching forth his hand for the pen.

She quickly opened the small bag tied around her waist and brought out a pen which she quickly handed to him.

The winger got down and signed the jersey as quickly as he could but just as he was about to pull his hand back and return her pen, he felt her slip something into his hand, it was a piece of paper and after that, she leaned closer to whisper something into his ear.

"That's my number, I know you're single so it wouldn't be bad to give me a call, right?" She whispered.

"Okay."

The winger wanted to head into the building as soon as possible, so that was the safest response he could give.

"Can I have a selfie with you?" She asked as she returned the pen to her bag and brought out her phone.

"Sure." The winger replied after slowly slipping the piece of paper into his pocket.

He leaned closer and smiled for the selfie before returning to his normal standing position.

"Bye, Mateo, Thanks." She said with a bright smile on her face.

"Bye." The winger said before quickly making his way out of the area.

The players were congratulated by the President and the staff before they made their way outside where their cars were parked.

Since Dave and Mateo had their cars parked beside each other's, they were going in the same direction and that was when the winger decided to bring out the piece of paper and check the number that was written on it.

"Huh?" Dave said before pulling closer to him. "What's that? A number?"

"Yeah." The winger replied.

"From who?"

"A girl."

"A girl huh?" Dave said before he continued his walk to his car. "So, are you going to call her?"

"Um….I don't know." He said with his right hand on the back of his head.

"Yeah, I guess you already have Sofia, but…."

"But what?" Mateo asked.

"Never mind," Dave said before opening the door. "Just try not to get caught up in the trouble of women, you won't like it, and it may affect your performance on the pitch."

"Yeah, I know." The winger said before slipping the piece of paper back into his pocket. "Um…Dave."

"Yeah."

"I'm going home with you, your wife's been nagging me over text to join you guys for dinner tonight." The winger said with his gaze on his phone's screen.

"Oh, I see, let's get going then." The goalkeeper said before he entered his car and shut the door.

It didn't take long for the two to get to the house and after parking their cars in front of the garage, they got down from it and made their way to the house.

Knocking was okay, but Dave didn't want to do that, so he brought out his keys from his pocket and unlocked the door before pushing the door open.

There was no one in the living room as they entered the house, but just a few seconds later, someone came rushing toward the dining area with a bunch of plates in her hand.

"Amber?" Mateo said with a confused expression on his face.

"Oh, hey, Mateo and Mr. Dave, welcome." She said as she quickly spread out the plates around the table.

"What are you doing here?" Mateo asked.

"Um…we've been working here all day and after we were done, Mrs. Emma told me to help her make dinner and I can't say no to my dear senior so I decided to help her."

As always, she was speed-talking, and before the two knew it, she was gone, she had returned to the kitchen.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Dave asked after noticing that the expression on his teammate's face had changed.

"Oh, it's nothing." He said before shaking his head. "I just need something to drink."

"Well, there are a lot of things to drink in the freezer, go make your choice," Dave said as he made his way to the couch. "I'm just going to sit here for a while."

The winger made his way to the kitchen from the side and just as he stretched his right leg to enter the area, Amber happened to be making her way out of the kitchen at that time.

She was walking really fast and that led to her tripping on his leg and was about to fall when the winger quickly stretched his hands and caught her before she could hit the floor.

"That was close."

"Yeah, but Mateo…your hands they're…"

That was when he looked at his hands to see that they were on her chest.

"Oh, sorry about that." He said abruptly before allowing her to crash to the floor.

"Owww, I didn't tell you to let go." She said before quickly sitting up on the floor.

"Sorry, let me help you up." He said before stretching his hands toward her.

She took his hand and got pulled up along with the bottle of water she was holding and it was at that moment that the two made eye contact and suddenly an awkward atmosphere was created.

"Umm….I have to go drop this over there, thanks for catching me." She said nervously before quickly making her way to the dining area.

While she was walking away Mateo just stared at his hands.

'Why did I even agree to come here?'
