My love game is too abstract

#52 - Don't thank me, Zeshia.

Yarrow hadn't expected Zessia to be interested in novels other than those about dragons.

“I didn’t think you’d be into detective novels, Zessia. Aren't you usually reading those dragon-slaying types of stories?” he said.

“Mind your own business!” Zessia pouted, getting up and snatching the novel back.

“What’s wrong with a change of pace? Besides, with my vast knowledge, I'm simply enjoying the thrill of finding the truth faster than the protagonist in the book.”

“Then why did you look so startled just now?” Yarrow asked.

“Who said I was startled! It was just you barging in and talking!” Zessia glared at him resentfully.

“Don’t underestimate me. With these three detective novels, I've deduced the truth faster than the characters in the book every time. Could a sloth-brained idiot like you do that?”

The silver dragon lifted her chin and put her hands on her hips, looking very proud.

Just because you’ve read a few detective novels doesn't make you all that...

Yarrow thought to himself, scoffing inwardly.

Zessia sat down, flipping through the pages to find where she had been reading, then turned her head to look at Yarrow:

“What did you come here for?”

“Oh, this is a gift from Tao Hu, for warding off evil and bringing peace.” Yarrow handed over the lucky coin.

“That little fox made this?” Zessia held the red string, looking at the coin dangling in front of her. “A coin? Does a king like me need this kind of trinket for protection?”

“Just accept it. It won't hurt, and I heard it can bring good luck,” Yarrow said.

“Fine, fine, I'll take it. I just feel like my luck has been terrible ever since I started hanging out with you.” Zessia held the coin in her hand and waved him away.

“If you have nothing else, get out and don’t disturb my investigation.”

“Yes, Detective Zessia.”

As Yarrow was about to leave, he noticed another detective novel on the bed, titled 'Detective Brute'.

“Can I borrow this one to read?” he asked Zessia.

Zessia glanced at it. “If you want to borrow it, return it quickly. I haven’t read that one yet.”

“Okay, thanks.” Yarrow took the book and left.

For the next ten days or so, Serena completely immersed herself in the creation of alchemical potions, often going into the basement in the morning and not coming out until evening.

Her potion-making skills were indeed very high. After taking the potions she made to White's alchemy workshop, it was discovered that their precision was particularly high. A medium-effect recovery potion could fetch three gold lang, while the production cost was only ten sikes.

However, she was not in a hurry to make money. Instead, she helped Yarrow and Tao Hu concoct the potions they would need when entering the mystic realm.

In addition to night vision potions, there were also underwater breathing potions, detoxification potions, high-temperature immunity potions, and even a potion that, when drunk, could briefly make the body's weight as light as a feather.

Most of them were functional, since the greatest threat in the mystic realm was the changeable environment, and these would always come in handy.

Yarrow himself began to study that dragon clan secret technique. After translating it, he learned that this secret technique had a rather refreshing name: "Moonlight Fancy Meditation."

By meditating, one could freely control one's perception of magic.

After practicing for more than a week, he could use spells normally. The situation where a Ground Bursting Star would occur with the slightest carelessness no longer happened.

However, one problem was that he still couldn't control spells with too much power. Magic power that exceeded his perception control would go out of control. He had to practice little by little to gradually master this powerful force.

Tao Hu, as a companion who was going to enter the mystic realm with him, didn't do much during this time. He usually played with Ji Xiaofei, or pondered some self-created techniques, and occasionally ran into Yarrow's bed at night to play the game of holding hands.

Ten days passed quickly. Tomorrow they would go to the mystic realm. Tao Hu didn't come over tonight, so Yarrow picked up the detective novel he had borrowed from Zessia.

He had only read a few chapters before, and had been too busy studying to read it these past few days, so he just wanted to relax today.

But after reading a few more chapters, he found that this detective novel was really bad. The characters were too stereotypical and formulaic. As soon as an old man appeared, you knew he was definitely the murderer.

Yarrow flipped to the last few pages. Sure enough, the old man was the murderer.

It was even worse than the writing in Conan's original episodes.

He found it amusing that Zessia could read this kind of book and still think she was so smart.

He picked up a pen, circled the old man's name in the book, and added a note:

“You're welcome. This old man is the murderer. I figured it out after only reading a few chapters. How's that for skill, Detective Dragon King?”

The next day, before dawn, Yarrow got up with Tao Hu to prepare to leave.

“Make sure you have everything you need, don’t forget the potions.”

Serena, wearing pajamas and a coat, came to see them off.

“Did you pack the lunchbox? At least don't go hungry for the first two days. Bring more clothes, and also matches and a water cup…” Serena nagged like a mother hen.

“Okay, I’ve packed everything. Take care of Ji Xiaofei, we’re leaving.” Yarrow said to her with his backpack on.

“Goodbye, Serena, say goodbye to Ji Xiaofei for me too.” Tao Hu said.

They got up too early, and Ji Xiaofei was still sleeping. She had said last night that she wanted to see them off, but she hadn't gotten up yet.

Although Lawrence had arranged the fastest and most luxurious earth dragon carriage for them, it would still take two days by earth dragon from the royal capital to the entrance of the mystic realm. Adding the four days they would be in the mystic realm, this trip would take half a month.

After packing their things, saying goodbye to Serena, they headed towards the royal city with Tao Hu.

When they arrived at the entrance of the Willow Gold Exchange, it was almost dawn. From a distance, they saw the earth dragon carriage parked at the gate of the exchange, and Lawrence was waiting there.

“Thank you for your hard work.” He greeted them warmly.

After exchanging pleasantries, they began to discuss business.

Lawrence gave them a mystic realm exploration manual, which contained various situations they might encounter in this mystic realm, all of which were experiences and lessons they had learned from dozens of past explorations.

There would not be too much danger in the Luan Mystic Realm. Even if they encountered danger, there were teleportation crystals. These crystals were worn in the form of bracelets, and would immediately send the wearer out of the mystic realm when their life was in danger.

In addition, Lawrence also gave them an item that looked like a jewelry bag. This was a magic item, and although it didn't look big, it had a full ten cubic meters of storage space inside, which was for them to put the items they obtained from the mystic realm.

Lawrence promised that as long as they completed the task assigned to them, all the treasures they obtained from the mystic realm would belong to them, and a generous reward would be paid afterwards.
