#53 - Black Tomb Legend Hell Miser
Chapter 53 Black Tomb Chronicles – The Hellish Miser
Cohen’s pupils reflected the magnificent and grand legendary domain of Mr. Modo.
He exuded an undeniable conviction—that he would reach this step, and would be even stronger than the other party!
Above the firmament, Modo’s "Inheritance Flame" domain was already pressing down on the five Gold-tier assassins.
Instantly, the five felt scorching heart-fires surging from the depths of their hearts, as if to completely burn them from the inside out.
The five simultaneously roared, and intense, dazzling golden light burst forth from their bodies, like sturdy armor, enveloping their entire beings!
The tomb guards, each led by one of the five, also instantly rotated into bizarre battle formations.
Relying on the battle formations, the auras of the group converged, forming a surging torrent, resonating with the golden aura in front of them, jointly resisting the powerful legendary domain.
Golden bodies, combined battle formations!
Merely the imposing pressure of the domain, without even using a trace of the power of rules, had forced the five to manifest their golden bodies, and the five squads of tomb guards had to resort to their trump card combined battle formations.
Legendary-tier powerhouses were terrifying indeed!
However, it was only a slight resistance after all. Mr. Modo’s eyes turned cold, and the torch hanging in the air trembled violently, followed by a series of dazzling sparks.
These sparks, like fire spirits, shot out with an indomitable momentum, drawing beautiful and dangerous arcs in the air.
The sparks, like birds escaping their cages, soared rapidly, instantly igniting the surrounding air, and impacted the Black Tomb’s阵地阵地 in a flurry.
The faces of the five Gold-tiers changed drastically!
They sensed a terrifyingly dense fire element from these sparks. They could almost certainly confirm that even the slightest touch would cause their most solid golden bodies to burn to ashes in an instant!
This was the power that touched the origin rules of the fire element!
No matter how powerful the physical body, it could not resist!
Just as the Black Tomb’s members were about to fall into a sea of deadly flames, a golden whirlwind suddenly swept up from all directions of the Black Tomb camp, easily blocking the deadly flames outside the阵地阵地.
When the golden whirlwind stopped, everyone could see clearly that it was not a whirlwind at all, but golden coins shimmering with metallic luster!
Each golden coin shone with a mysterious golden light. They rotated at high speed in the air, forming a golden barrage, completely enveloping the "Black Tomb" members, protecting them from the suppression of Mr. Modo’s legendary domain.
Looking at the golden coins exuding a mysterious aura, Mr. Modo’s face became very solemn.
Isabella and Grand Duke Roland also revealed stern expressions, their gazes converging on a light and shadow that appeared not far away.
Cohen, hidden among the Golden Wing Guards, moved his lips slightly, gently uttering a name that made people tremble involuntarily:
The Demon Financier, the Soul Trader, the Hellish Miser, the Legendary-tier [Hell Poet], Mammon!
As if to verify what Cohen was thinking, the light and shadow in the distance gradually took shape, revealing a true appearance that made the "Pale Wings" members feel as if they were facing a formidable enemy.
The newcomer was hunched over, yet exuded an irresistible evil charm.
A black robe, like the night, shrouded his thin and bony body.
The robe was embroidered with twisted runes and bizarre patterns, as if directly branded from the flames of hell.
His face was as pale as paper, with sunken eye sockets, and a pair of eyes burning with ghostly blue flames, condensing endless depravity and madness, his gaze seeming to pierce through the soul.
When he appeared, everyone heard strange and sinister whispers in their ears, as if demons were bewitching:
"The moment desire is satisfied is the moment of repayment!"
The newcomer was none other than the "Black Tomb's" third councilor, the Lord of Minauros, the third layer of Hell, the Legendary-tier [Hell Poet] Mammon!
As the only Devil Duke among the Nine Hell Kings to join the human camp, Mammon's position in the "Black Tomb" was extraordinary.
Mammon believed in "Everything has a price," which coincided with the "Pale Wings" philosophy.
But as everyone knew, the greatest grudges were between those in the same profession.
Therefore, Mammon often acted as the vanguard against the "Pale Wings" and was also an old opponent of Isabella and others.
As the Lord of Minauros, the third layer of Hell, Mammon oversaw soul transactions.
When Mammon traded with mortals, he and his minions often provided irresistible wealth, fame, and everything of value.
He always succeeded in attracting more souls than the other Nine Hell Lords, monopolizing almost all soul transactions.
He never rested and spent every waking second in schemes to increase his wealth, becoming the Nine Hells' chief merchant and miser, perhaps the wealthiest being in the planes.
He also provided currency loans to other demons in exchange for their services, favors, or items he coveted.
He even made a deal with the Hell King Asmodeus, allowing him to freely join organizations in the human world.
"If you need to trade with a devil, Mammon may be your best choice, but if you don't want to offer your soul, you must be prepared to pay the wealth of an entire kingdom!"
This was the warning left by a prince from the Northern Empire after rescuing his fallen son from Asmodeus, the Lord of Nessus, the ninth layer of Hell, through Mammon!
Modo's cold voice rang in everyone's ears, directly breaking Mammon's whispers:
"That miser who crawled out of hell, why don't you go back and repair your crumbling stronghold, what are you doing running to the human world?"
Minauros, the third layer of Hell controlled by Mammon, was built on an endless swamp.
It often teetered on the edge of collapse, so Minauros was also known as the Sunken City.
But Mammon lived up to his reputation as the Hellish Miser, although he had accumulated a considerable treasure trove, he only used a small portion of it to maintain his rule.
This directly resulted in Minauros being a dirty, dilapidated place.
It was full of buildings made of cheap foundations, fragile materials, and shoddy workmanship.
He even refused to pay a penny more for repairs other than those necessary to keep the soul market (his Number Eight Pawnshop) functioning normally!
There were even people in the Hell's official organization openly betting on when Mammon's third layer would completely sink.
Faced with Mr. Modo's ridicule, Mammon gave everyone a poet-like salute and chuckled:
"Greetings, Golden Winged Woman, Grand Duke Roland, Mr. Modo. Rather than the Hellish Miser, I would prefer you call me—Boss!"
It must be said that Mammon's greatest pride was opening the largest soul pawnshop, Number Eight Pawnshop, in Hell.
Legend has it that more than one emperor in the human empire had traded there!
