My Ultimate Ambition

At the Kim's residence, lady Yoona already robed with a fresh set of dress paced around her room in a silent melancholy. Her beautiful face distorted with impatience on the long wait and delayed arrival of her older brother.

Suddenly, she heard the voice of her dearest brother seeking permission to come in.

On her approval, he breezed in as looked at his sister with a serious scrutiny to ascertain an physical hurt of impediments on her. Satisfied with what he saw, he relaxed his tensed up nerve and softly asked her the reason for his sudden return.

Lady Yoona gazed at him fiercely with determination replacing her dark orbs. Her usual soft voice got sharp and authoritative with the manner of someone unlikely to change her mind if convinced.

" Older brother, I will return to the palace", her growled with an intensity fit for a tigress.

Jae-hyuk , which is her brother's name was stupefied to the point of speechlessness. The full impact of the word hitting him hard.

He finally found his voice and and asked why she would like to return to the place where she has been treated more or less like a dog.

With tears running down her cheeks , she swore to her brother that her going back was to reclaim all that she lost and belongs to her.

She broke down into an uncontrollable sob as she swore not to be treated like lowly again.

"I will have the highest seat next to the emperor and show the world that I will shine with or without the restrictions the society imposed on me because of my status", she concluded coherently and eloquently not batting an eyelid.

Jae-hyuk momentarily froze as he asked if she plans on grasping the empress title from the head of the inner court appointed by the dowager empress.

"Not yet", she smiled conspirationally, "She should take it now, the feeling of pulling someone down to take what's originally yours is the sweetest". She said.

"Dowager empress favours her and my south faction is too weak because of the grand dowager's lack of power. Taking this title as an unranked courtmaid even with the emperor's favour won't bode well for me".

What she is aiming for is far bigger and not restricted to having the empress title alone, the best and secured seat is birthing the next emperor. Yes, a crown prince should come from her she thought silently.

Her brother finally understood her sister from her tone of speech, he thought to himself. 'Well... why not, if a rat is cornered with no escape route, it can turn back to bite it's predator'.

After his personal conviction and analysis ,he supported her wholeheartedly and unconventionally with the promise to see her through in steps of the way.

He had personally witnessed the unfortunate situation that sent his sister packing away from the palace in a shameful manner.

" Yoona!, jae-hyuk?". They heard their mother's voice and stopped their discussion. Jae-hyuk gave her a knowing look implying their mother shouldn't be kept in the dark as she would support them anyway.

She made her entrance inside the room with worry ridden face. She had been scared silly on the prospect of her baby crying sorrowfully as she passed along. When she saw her candles glowing brightly she couldn't fathom the frustration she must be venting out through tears.

As a mother who loves her children very much, she can't bear to see a streak of tear escaping freely from their eyes but seeing the bright face of her daughter she heaved a sigh of relief.

" Yoona, why are you still awake by this time of the night?"

Yoona simply told her of the plan to return to the palace at noon the next day. After a considerable amount of time had passed, she heaved a sigh like she expected this outcome.

"Mother will support you but make sure you don't overtax yourself. Meet your uncle for help, that cunning man knows his ways around the palace", she advised.

Adding few more words of encouragement and wisdom, she left the room to allow her catch on sleep.

Jae-hyuk left too to prepare. Tomorrow, he must convince his uncle to help get a suitable rank for her so as to set his mind at ease.

"Level 4 Sukwon shouldn't be a bad start ". He said as he daydreamed on becoming a royal concubine's elder brother.

As for the human called their uncle, he hopes to extract his usefulness before throwing him out. His a double-edged sword that shouldn't be played with and the greediest man he had ever seen through his entire lifetime.

"Now the I understand the popular saying of , he who dines with the devil should make use of a long spoon", he scratched his head to recall the correct idiom. "Whatever", he smiled before spitting on the ground. "I hate this man with passion".

Tired with the day's event, he fell into a long slumber to wake up at the break of down so as to start his first mission.
