My Wife Is My Nephew's Bodyguard
Chapter 39 - I'll return his freedom...
The graveyard...
The three people who in their simple dark outfits standing silently in front of a tombstone. Mark and Jenny Kyle were buried in one grave. Because of their flesh was mixed with others, they decided to take some identified flesh like teeth or nails if still survived under that explosion.
Fortunately, the plane crashed on the land, not ocean. If not...
Layla slumped down, silently cried, holding their others survived objects. Necklaces. The deceased couple wearing identified necklaces as their symbol of love and affection.
She put one of the necklaces on the tombstone. She opens wide the love shaped pendant, showing off a small picture of the three. Mark, Jenny, and her. Their small family picture.
" Mark, Jen...I'm sorry...I'll live well. I won't let you both disappointed. For the time being, I couldn't take care of our home. I'll stay in the organisation's hostel to continue my training. But, don't worry. I'll come over to clean up the house for a time to time."
" I'm going. I will come back to visit again. See you guys later," Layla c.a.r.e.s.sing the cold tombstone. She stood up, trembling a little. But, she holds on. She won't give up. She must live on!
" Mark, Jen...we off. We will come back to visit again," Allen went closer to the tombstone, putting a bouquet of lilies down. Fred also put down another bouquet of lilies. After touching the tombstone for last time, they went back.
Once inside the car, the three sat silently without starting the car.
" Layla, you better discuss your plan to stay at the organization with Adrian. Don't leave like this," Allen spoke softly. Layla stiffened, shaking her head.
" No. He..."
Layla struggling with her heart. She admits that Adrian is her husband. A legal one. But, he still a stranger to her. Her mind rejects him, but her body does the opposite. It accepts him. It accepts his advance. It accepts his touch. Her heart trembles every time he stays closer to her.
Layla is aware that her rejection hurt Adrian badly. But, what should she do? She couldn't accept him!
" Anyway, thank you for everything. You help in my most critical time. About Mark and Jenny, also thank you." Layla put down the matter about Adrian for the time being. She felt grateful for their companion. Allen looks amused, Fred snorted.
" Well, we accept that. But, for Mark and Jenny matter, you shall say thank you to your husband. Adrian, he managed all from the start. He takes responsibility as a son-in-law."
Layla stunned, " What? Adrian did?"
Allen nodded, telling her about the matter that happens after the accident. She went silent. Soon, she sighed.
" Sent me back." Finally. Allen smiled, patting her hand, assuring her. Fred sent a message to Adrian about their on the way back to the villa.
Layla closed her eyes to rest. She slept in, not noticing a dark gleam in Allen's eyes. He remembers his chat with Adrian last night.
" I lied to her about her real situation in the past. I hope you could keep it from her. About the miscarriage also, I couldn't bring myself to talk about the little one. I don't want to burden her with that accident. I said she involved in a car accident two years ago." Remembering the pained tones of Adrian, at that time, Allen knew how deep Adrian's feeling to Layla. Even he himself couldn't find any courage to tell her about that fateful day. The nightmare.
It's better like this. Better for her to forget.

Heartfilia Villa.
A car arrived and went inside after waiting for a moment for the big gate to open. Allen drove slowly and park his car at the open lawn. The three went out and walked to the villa. Layla looked up at the villa, feeling complicated and conflicted. The big villa gives a vibe of the ric.h.e.s.t. She felt uncomfortable. Is this her home? It's bigger than she imagines before. This villa, no, the mansion was one in a kind. It looks like a palace to her.
'Why Adrian still loyal to the marriage? These two years were enough for him to give up and find another wife. I'm not that good to him...' Layla sighed.
'Shall I ask for a divorce from him? It's better than tying him with this loveless marriage. I'll return his freedom and cut any ties with him.' Layla decided. Her determination hardened her heart from being merciful to herself. She mustn't be selfish, rather being selfless and humble. This is not her lifestyle.
This is not her world...
