“Me?” Qin Chu hesitated.

Zhang Manlin nodded.

Qin Chu looked down at the female employee and her pale face. Then, he boarded the ambulance without another word.

“What about the meeting, President Qin?” Bella’s voice sounded from behind him.

“Push it back by an hour,” Qin Chu ordered.

Bella’s grip tightened around the documents on her hands. Then, she turned around and went back up.

“Bella, weren’t you supposed to attend a meeting with President Qin?” Zhixin was surprised to see her.

“Mhm, something came up and President Qin had to leave. He pushed the meeting back by an hour.”

“Oh, get some rest then. Here, have some coffee. I bought it yesterday.” Zhixin handed her a cup of coffee.

“Thanks.” Bella took the coffee; she lowered her head, looking distracted.

“What’s wrong? You look depressed.”

“I’m fine.”

However, Bella’s mind was still on rewind, thinking about what had happened just now. After a few sips of coffee, she looked up at Zhixin.

“Director Jing, how’s President Qin and Mian recently?”

“What do you mean?” Zhixin responded with a question.

“How is their relationship? I feel like President Qin’s always working late these days. Are they fighting?”

“Uh… I’m not sure, I haven’t seen my sister in a while. My mom did visit a couple of days ago, and she said they were doing good. Why? Did you notice something?”

“No, it was just a random question, don’t think too much.” Bella smiled and fell silent.

Why did Zhang Manlin ask President Qin to go to the hospital with her? Why did he agree? It didn’t seem like something he would usually do – President Qin totally could’ve asked a manager to go in lieu of him, he didn’t have to go by himself and miss the following meeting.

-Inside the ambulance –

Zhang Manlin and Qin Chu sat alone in the back of the ambulance with the unconscious employee. It was soundproof, so the driver couldn’t hear them.

“Why are you working at South Side? Are you a doctor?” Qin Chu asked.

“I’m not, I work in the finance department.”

“Then why are you here?” Qin Chu continued to ask.

“Because our hospital’s been super busy, and we don’t have enough paramedics. I didn’t have anything to do when this call came in, and I’m licensed in first aid, so I came to help.”

“You seem to know a lot.”

“It’s just a hobby.”

Then, they fell silent. Zhang Manlin looked down at the patient and tended to her. She did look like a semi-professional. Unlike most women, she didn’t pay any attention to Qin Chu, let alone staring at him like a fangirl.

She was wearing a white lab coat and a red checkered dress, which made her look like a cute schoolgirl.

Qin Chu glanced at her quietly and turned towards the window, not uttering another word. Once they got to the hospital and Qin Chu signed, Zhang Manlin turned to him and smiled.

“Thank you, President Qin.”

Then, she walked away without another word.

Qin Chu wanted to go upstairs and say hi to Huo Mian, but he looked down at his watch and realized that he was going to be late for the meeting.

Therefore, he decided to leave the hospital.

Mian had just come out of the on-call room when she saw Qin Chu’s back as he walked away. She froze for a second before dialing his number.
