Chapter 67 Hypnosis

Whether it was darkness or light, seemingly he couldn’t reach either of them, as if there were countless hands pushing him around. He was confined to the crevice, unable to breathe at all.

Xia Mingyu stood at the threshold in confusion, not knowing what happened to him, what he did and yet he forgot, and whether he would annoy Zhao Yun? Would he be more troublesome to Zhao Yun?

He couldn’t help thinking much in his mind and became even more afraid. Suddenly, he wanted to go to Zhao Yun for confession, but he couldn’t. If he confessed about his condition, what would Zhao Yun think of him? What should he do?

The hesitant young man suddenly saw a piece of white cloth in front of him and stayed stunned for a moment. As he looked up, he saw Zhao Yun and subconsciously retreated. As a result, his heels hit the threshold and then he fell. Zhao Yun reached out and pulled the young man into his arms, looking at the shocked Xia Mingyu in confusion.

“What’s wrong?” Zhao Yun smoothed the frown in the middle of the young man’s eyebrows. Clearly, Xia Mingyu’s amber eyes were full of complicated feelings, mostly hesitation. What happened? What was he hesitating about?

Xia Mingyu composed himself and said in a trembling voice, which was actually much better than before, “No… I’m fine. Why are… Why are you back?”

Zhao Yun noticed his nervousness and then slightly shook his head, saying in a joking tone, “You don’t want me to come back and see you?”

“Yes!” Xia Mingyu just blurted out his mind and then hurriedly covered his mouth, staring at Zhao Yun with his watery amber eyes.  Zhao Yun smiled and slightly stroked the young man’s nose tip, saying, “I was thinking your injuries might still be rather hurtfyl, so I cam back to continue the treatment for you.”

So Zhao Yun came back only for that… Out of concern about the young man’s injuries … Xia Mingyu suddenly felt so warm and sweet, as if drinking a cup of the most delicious hot milk tea. Xia Mingyu stopped frowning and then rushed into Zhao Yun’s arms to hug him tightly.

Zhao Yun touched the back of Xia Mingyu’s head condolently and then stepped into the room. He let the young man sit on the bed, kneeled down on one knee and gently removed the bandage, trying not to make Xia Mingyu feel pain again.

When Zhao Yun saw the clear scratches, his red pupils were filled with pain. In his eyes, the young man should live a happy life, well protected by him. However, the young man didn’t. This was the third time that he had seen the young man severely injured. Never had he protected the young man.

“In some time… I may have to leave. I don’t know when Mu Feng will come back, but I have received some information. So I need to go to Lingshan.” Zhao Yun used his magic to help cure Xia Mingyu, while talking about his plan. The young man stiffened with his hands grasping the sheet more tightly.

“You… You said that you wouldn’t leave me alone?” Xia Mingyu was a little agitated and then loosened the sheets. Instead, he tightly grabbed Zhao Yun’s clothes. “Please, Yun, take me with you. I won’t make trouble. I’ll be good, okay?”

Zhao Yun originally wanted to leave Xia Mingyu to Sun Yaxin. After all, he didn’t want to let Xia Mingyu encounter any danger, but as the young man made such a request, he had to hesitate whether he should bring Xia Mingyu.

“But… Xiaoyu, it will be very dangerous.” Zhao Yun saw the young man’s scratches on his legs disappear and helped him put on his shoes and socks. “Be obedient and stay here. Mr. Sun will take care of you.”

“I don’t want his care!” Xia Mingyu rarely lost his temper. The usually meek young man suddenly acted out of his character, with his angry amber cat’s pupils filled with shiny tears, as if they would fall down the next second. Zhao Yun was suddenly stunned.

Xia Mingyu seemed to notice that he was being too rude and then lowered his head, mumbling, “I’m sorry.” Both of them were silent for a long time. Zhao Yun suddenly held up his Xia Mingyu’s cheeks and gently kissed the two fine pink lips. Looking at the boy’s suddenly blushed cheeks, he smiled.

This was the first time that the Heavenly Soul had kissed Zhao Yun in the state of consciousness. He felt quite good and stopped being angry anymore. All he remembered was only that softness and coldness on the lips.

“Xiaoyu, I won’t leave you alone. When you have holidays in a few days, let’s go to Lingshan together, okay?” Anyway, there was no need to rush for the moment. Since the young man relied on him with so much trust, and took him as the sole sustenance, which had never been before, Zhao Yun didn’t want to fail him.

“Um… Okay.” Xia Mingyu nodded. Zhao Yun recalled the wound on his back, so he asked Xia Mingyu to turn around and take off his shirt. Xia Mingyu did as told. The young man’s upper body was covered with bandages. As the bandages were taken off, a lot of blood oozed. Xia Mingyu’s forehead was instantly covered with cold sweat, so it really hurt to remove the bandages.

Just like before in the villa, as the cold fingertips touched the back, the young man slightly trembled with his cheeks flushed. He didn’t dare to look back at Zhao Yun. Zhao Yun thought of Xia Mingyu after being drunk, and felt amused. Xia Mingyu behaved so differently from what he did after getting drunk.

After healing Xia Mingyu’s wound completely, Zhao Yun helped Xia Mingyu put on his clothes again. The young man grabbed his sleeve worriedly and completely forgot what he said to Sun Yaheng.

“Okay, do you want to go back to school now?” Zhao Yun just let the young man grabbing his clothes. The eight-tailed cat spirit rolled its eyes and huddled on Zhao Yun’s shoulders  to eliminate its presence.

“I–”

“Oh, what’s wrong?” Sun Yaxin suddenly walked inside. The young man let go of his hand in time. When he saw Sun Yaxin, he thought of what he wanted to talk with him about before, but he suddenly didn’t want to do that now, because he didn’t want to stay away from Zhao Yun for a second.

“Tsk, Zhao Yun, it’s not good to spoil the child all the time. Let me talk to him.” Sun Yaxin said so. Zhao Yun lowered his head to look at Xia Mingyu, and the young man looked at Sun Yaxin and told what he said by mouth movements—”You want him to know?”

No, he couldn’t let Yun know! Xia Mingyu swallowed back his words and watched Sun Yaxin talking to Zhao Yun, “Go out first. Otherwise, if you’re here, he’ll be nervous. By the way, my brother is in the pavilion over there. If you are bored, you can talk to him. Didn’t you guys have a nice talk just now?”

Zhao Yun nodded and left. “Okay, then I’ll leave Xiaoyu to you.” As he was away again, Xia Mingyu turned around and happened to make eye contact with Sun Yaxin.

“Talk to me. What are you afraid of?” Sun Yaxin sat down in front of the young man, poured two cups of tea and handed over one cup to the young man. Xia Mingyu said, “Thank you.” Then he thought for a while and continued saying, “I’ve lost some of my memories… Perhaps there is nothing wrong with my memory. It is…” He didn’t know how to explain.

“Do you want to say that you feel like there’s someone else in your body?” Xia Mingyu nodded hesitantly and wanted to ask something, but Sun Yaxin had a guess in his heart, and looked at the confused young man, smiling and saying, “You’ve heard of schizophrenia, right?”

Xia Mingyu got nervous and stared at Sun Yaxin suspiciously, “You mean, I… I have a dual personality?”

“Exactly. It should be like this. As to the reason, I guess it is because you were once in danger when you were a kid. And your situation got more serious afterwards. Do you… Do you want to see the other self?”

The other self? A pair of purple eyes appeared in his mind, familiar and kind. But how could he see the other self?

“If you want to see him, you have to listen to me. Okay?” Sun Yaxin smiled. Xia Mingyu didn’t notice his smile and just nodded his head. Sun Yaxin said, “Now, close your eyes first.”

Xia Mingyu did as told. After he closed his eyes, it was dark. He couldn’t see anything, and clenched his fists. Sun Yaxin continued, “Relax. I think you can’t see anything now, right? Continue to follow my steps and imagine the darkness as an empty room. Now, you have to step out of this empty room.”

“But… But I can’t find the door…” Xia Mingyu frowned slightly. Sun Yaxuan put his hand on his shoulder and said, “It’s not that there’s no door but that you can’t find it. Follow me and go straight ahead. Walk. Keep walking. Do you see that there’s a small crack, and the light coming from the crack?”

“Mmm.”

“Good. Then walk to it. That’s the door. Do you feel it?” Sun Yaxin said and saw Xia Mingyu subconsciously raise his hand and make a move of touching the door handle. Then he smiled and said, “If you touch it, open it.”

He seemed to hear the sound of “clatter” of a door being opened. This dark and suffocating empty room was opened and he could go out.

“Tell me, what do you see after opening the door?” Sun Yaxin was talking to his ear and led the young man to say what he saw in his heart. “I see… I see the dark night, the stars in the night sky, but it is still very dark…”

“Don’t be afraid. Look carefully. What else do you see?”

What else was in the dark? Under the stars, the ground was a mirror. Through the mirror, he saw his reflection. “A mirror… And myself.”

Sun Yaxin turned his eyes and said, “Yes, that mirror image is another you. Now, in the mirror, you can see his memory and tell me, what did you see?”

Seeing the memory of his other self? Xia Mingyu squatted blankly and looked through the mirror. The image in the mirror suddenly changed. He saw that the other self killed a lot of people with his hands covered in blood. No, no, how could he kill people? How was it possible?

The young man suddenly got emotional, holding his head and trembling. Sun Yaxin carefully observed his movements and said, “What did you see? Don’t be afraid, tell me I’m right next to you.”

“He killed people… A lot of people… I didn’t kill them. I don’t know anything. It really wasn’t me!” Xia Mingyu saw his merciless self in the mirror world and didn’t know what to do. The other self in the mirror suddenly looked back at him, with the anger still lingering between the eyebrows, as evil as a demon. Suddenly he emerged from the mirror bit by bit. Instantly, a wave of fear swept over Xia Mingyu.

“No! Don’t come here!”
